This crime novel wants to have it all: Nazis! Jews! Resistance! Love! Betrayal! Infidelity! And the one thing I am sure about is...
I won't be picking up any more Leda Giallo novels. This may be because
a) I simply loathe Italian (police) culture so much that I want to avoid dealing with it or b) because Andrea Isari writes far too simplistic about Italian (police) culture, making me want to avoid her novels.
I am used to broken systems of law enforcement, but this was not even convincing. The setting aside, the novel didn't work as mystery: The crime was solved (by me) long before the protagonists got there. Mysogyny was addressed, but in.... I want to say mysoginistic way? I'm all for girl power, but this whole novel just rubbed me the wrong way. The emotions also seemed over the top to me, the dialogue stiff and... Frankly, this woman is unlikable, unbelieable and hysterical.
