After years of bad relationships, Ava Miller is finally living life for herself and isn’t going to let anyone get in the way. Her dream is to open a lingerie shop, and she has chosen Brookfield, Wyoming as her new home, where her dreams might just come true. Once she meets the town sheriff, though, she’s suddenly involved in a flirtatious battle for the right to open her store.
Seth Hampton is the town’s sheriff, and when Ava shows up, he’s not sure what hits him. He craves her, yet he can’t stand to allow that type of shop to open in his small town. However, he isn’t alone. Someone else wants Ava to leave town. Things take a turn when her shop is vandalized, and all evidence points to Seth.
Ava isn’t sure what to think. While Seth seems to be the only one with motives, something inside her believes he would never do it. Can Ava and Seth figure it out before one of them gets hurt?
Lacey Wolfe has always had a passion for words, whether it’s getting lost in a book or writing her own. Her goal as an author is to have a romance for everyone, whether it’s sweet, sensual, or spicy. She’s had several books on the Amazon best seller lists. When she isn’t writing, she can be found running, talking to her pets, spending time with her family, or lost in some sort of craft. Oh, and she takes kindly to anyone who feeds her cookies.
Lacey lives in Georgia with her husband, son and daughter, their herd of cats and one black lab who rules the house.
Ava has had a long past with tough relationships. She finally decides to get away from it all and move to Brookfield, WY and open the store she has always dreamed of opening... a lingerie store!
Seth is the small towns sheriff and upon meeting Ava is head over heals for her, however, he can't allow her to open up such a store in HIS town.
Ava decides that she isn't going to let any man control what she does anymore and goes ahead and works on getting her store open. Ava and Seth find themselves flirting and bantering back and forth and growing rather close, until Ava's store gets vandalized. All the evidence points towards it being Seth. No one else knows where she is so it must be him! But something tells her that this loving man couldn't be doing all of this to her. So who is it?
This is a story that you wont be able to put down until you have finished it! This is a GREAT story from an AMAZING author.
This is a cute novella. The hero is cute with cocky attitude and surprise humor. The heroine is cute with her spunk, her talking back, and her refusal to take crap. The town is cute in their support of each other. What's not cute is the stalker and his nasty shenanigans.
Ava has come to Brookfield to get away from her past. It's not that anyone is following her; she's just tired of the men she's ended up with. Seems someone is always trying to control her, and she's had enough. She makes this clear to the town sheriff, Seth, when he shows up trying to "run" her and her sex toy shop out of town. What's funny is, the sheriff declares he's protecting his town. After all, they have to walk down the street on the way to church! But, really, nobody but him has a problem. LOL
But then the vandalism starts and it's clear someone DOES want Ava gone, but why?
Another fantastic story by Lacey Wolfe! I am a huge fan of Lacey's and I knew the minute this came out I would love it. This is a story about Ava and Seth. Seth is the Sheriff in Brookfield, and Ava is Julie's cousin. We met Julie in Finding Home, also by Lacey Wolfe. (I recommend reading that first, but it is not necessary for this book.)
Ava is a strong female character that doesn't take Seth's crap about the store she is opening up. Seth is concerned about what people in Brookfield will think about the store.
What happens when the past tries to ruin the future? I guess you will have to read to find out!!
BARE NECESSITIES, the newest release from author Lacey Wolfe, takes us back to Brookfield, Wyoming, for another romance and maybe a little trouble. This time we meet Julie's cousin, Ava, a hot-tempered Italian who comes head to head with the town's Sheriff over the opening of her new store called, Bare Necessities. Let's just say that these two don't agree on anything, except maybe their mutual attraction to one another.
Ok, I did like the storyline of this romance, and I did enjoy the build-up in suspense, as well as, the build-up of sexual tension, BUT...It was missing something. I think it had to do with the fact that the first time they meet feels a bit rushed, and then they have a few awkward moments together, and then they are "in love". I didn't feel as if they had gotten a chance to really get to know each other. Could just be me, every reader is different, but I like when the hero and heroine have a few choice meetings before he insults her...haha.
There were some great scene's between Ava and Seth that had me laughing when that fiery Italian temper came lashing out,
"Listen here, you're not going to stop me from opening my shop. It isn't against the law. There will always be prude people, but I never expected you to be one of them. My store isn't just dildos and vibrators. It's mainly going to be sleepwear for women and, yes, lingerie. Do you have a problem with pretty panties?"
He was still taking quick glimpses at the pair she wore.
"It looks like you like the ones I'm wearing. You keep looking at them. Should I take them off?" Her finger lingered at the top.
Seth's Adam's apple bounced. She could see she might have taken it a bit too far, but she enjoyed pushing this man's buttons.
"No, leave them on." He managed to spit out.
She stepped closer and let her fingers dance along the edges of the lace. "What's the matter, officer? Do I make you nervous?" she whispered.
I always enjoy Lacey's romances, so I was a bit sad that this one didn't hold my absolute attention, but I would still recommend it to all my Tasty Readers, especially if you are enjoying the Racy Red Panties Romances this week. Come back and let me know what you think!!
Ava is new to town and starting an adult shop that the Sheriff is against having in their reputable town. It was nice how they started out. They have feelings for each other yet end up arguing over everything. It was kind of funny how Ava flirted/teased him to get a reaction out of him. Everyone can tell the Sheriff has it bad but is not willing to admit it. Soon after, Ava is threatened and Seth seems the likely suspect which increases the tension between them.
Although Ava in my own opinion is just a little too flirty though most people would just say friendly flirty, it was easy to see she would be good with Seth. The story is actually very close to a 5 star but one of Ava’s actions in fact almost made me give this story a 3 rating instead of the higher 4. The story was going so well even when the identity of the criminal was so obvious. That can be overlooked since the romance and the suspense is great. I was able to overlook the decisions Ava made in the past about her past relationships but she seemed like a complete DUMB when she ignores the very possible identity of the antagonist, especially since she is strong in every other aspect. After everything that happened to you are you SERIOUSLY going to think a previously violent person couldn’t be the one and the same? Even though some of the events seem kind of impossible, with all this technology in the world I think that one person should have seemed even more suspicious. It was kind of like a TSTL kind of thinking for me. This story could have almost been perfect if Ava’s thinking and actions were different in relation to the criminal. A lot of times stories like this have plots where the identity of the perpetrator are figured out in the middle and the rest of the story focuses on outsmarting and capturing him/her. I think this story would have been better if it had been written in that way.
With a tight and clever writing style, Lacey Wolfe has transported a city girl into the countryside, and livened up this small mountain town. It’s not a stretch to imagine the friendliness of the people, and Ava’s personal discomfort with trust, not after her abusive past is revealed. While Seth’s interest, as both the Sheriff and a man are easy to relate to. While no one is comfortable with the thought that an “adult store” is taking up residence on Main Street, his overt hostility to Ava once he hears that she is the new businesswoman with a planned lingerie shop that also sells adult toys is a bit overdone.
Yes, all of that conflict is settled when, as must happen with romance, their desires for each other overcome their discomfort of the situation, and the danger faced when Ava’s past returns to haunt. A perfectly fun book, great for an escape read; with touches of more serious elements of abusive and controlling boyfriends. Somewhat predictable, which is in no way a negative for a romance read, this book is the first in several I am sure to read of this author’s work when I want to escape the mundane and have a happy ending.
I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Another great story by Lacey. I loved these characters and story.
This is the story of Ava, who is new to town. She is opening a new store. The store is an upscale Lingerie store, with some sex toys in the back. She has had some issues with past boyfriends and decides Brookfield is the place to move. She loves it and knows this is the place for her to be and chance to start again.
Seth is the Sheriff of this small town. He is instantly attracted to Ava, but when he finds out that she is opening a new store he is not happy. He of course calls it a sex toy shop, which as she states that it has more Lingerie then Sex Toys. He does not want this store to open and tells her that a petition is going around to not let her open the shop.
Bad things start happening at her shop, like damage and she instantly accuses Seth of being the person behind it. He of course denies it, but then he is taken off the case. He is upset, but knows that this is best while they try to find out who the culprit is.
This was such story. I love the characters. I love the small town. Love that characters from the other books get updated in this one. Loved the added new characters. Hopefully Kimberly gets a story after the bad that has happened to her.
This is yet another 5 star story written by the very talented Lacey Wolfe. I just knew that once I started reading this story, I would not be able to put down my kindle until I had read the last page. Ava moved to Brookfield, hoping to start a new life for herself and to try to get over the pain of her past. When she tries to open up a lingerie shop, she encounters the town sheriff Seth. Seth will do what ever it takes to make sure the shop does not open in HIS town. What he did not plan on was the feelings that he would have for this feisty Italian beauty. While the relationship is developing between Seth & Ava, somebody else is trying to also make sure Ava does not stay in town. Ava does not want to take the chance with Seth because she is not completely convinced it is not him that keeps vandalizing her shop & terrorizing her in personal ways. It was also a lot of fun to "catch up" with Julie from Finding Home.
You won't believe who it is causing all the problems for Ava. It you want a heartwarming yet suspensefull story, this is the definitely the one to read!!
In Bare Necessities. there is a little mystery and intrigue along with a spicy romance. Ava is a sexy Italian who wants to open a lingerie shop with a little something extra in the back. Seth is the cop who thinks this store will be a scandal in the small town of Brookfield. The only problem is, as opposed as he is to the shop, Seth also can't deny his attraction to Ava and vice versa, When someone vandalizes her shop and sends her threatening notes, of course she thinks its Seth, but there are other suspects around and anyone could be the culprit. Despite her doubts, Ava is still drawn to Seth. But she is coming out of a bad relationship, and he has a dark secret in his past as well. With the sparks flying off the page, readers will route for Ava and Seth to overcome their differences and give into their urge
I really enjoyed this book this is the second from this author. Ava is one spunky character. She is a fighter for her rights since she has been pushed around & made to answer to ex-lovers. She will not do it again. Seth is a gentle giant. He is the law in Brookfield where Ava is putting her new store. The towns beloved sheriff is trying to run Ava out of town for he does not feel a sex toy shop needs to be in his town. Yet, when he meets her for the first time not knowing she will be "the" new owner he is in love on sight & she is to. Until he calls the new owner a basic nut job for wanting to open a sex shop in his town. She is not not happy at all until she gets up puts out her hand & basically says meet "nut job"& good-bye. From there the sparks keep coming. Enjoy!
I was really hoping I'd like this because I like Seth since the prequel/Claire's story. I liked the first part, their first meeting and playful banter, but after that just felt wrong. Maybe it's because they showed attraction first so the dislike came out fake—at least for me. After they got together, things started to be okay, although I think Seth was too sappy for my liking. What felt wrong was the proposal. I know this is just short and I already saw the proposal coming, but with the store opening acting as a timeline, it felt rushed.
Over all, the writing is still as what I expected. It's just the characters that didn't worked out but overall, it was okay. Right now, I'm hoping for Cody or Kimberly's story soon.
I enjoyed this book. It was funny and entertaining. Now I have to go back and read book 1, Julie's story. I loved the characters who were lively and although there were moments when I thought "too fast" or "hmmm, can't believe that" the book kept me reading to see both Ava and Seth together...it was pretty obvious that John was the culprit behind things, but I was more interested in how the book ended for Ava and Seth and the store....
This was a quick but great love story. I am really enjoying this series by Lacey Wolfe. I actually think this book was better than book 1 Finding Home. I really iked the love story in this book and the added element of suspense that Lacey threw into this book. If you are looking for a light, fun and sexy read this is the series for you.
Great second book to the series. Ava and Seth seemed destined to be together, as long as they can get past the fighting that starts everytime they are together.
Sweet, short book to read (though I do recommend reading Finding Home first).
I liked the book, not sure if I would read it again. Seems a little too fast in the love department to consider it real. I knew the outcome of the story before it got to the end. Granted it was cute, but not worth reading twice.
I haven't been in love with any of the stories from this series but this one was my least favorite....seriously too rushed to enjoy. They're quick stories but I want some believability....can't go from a mere acquaintance to love that quickly.
I read this book as part of the Brookfield series volume one. I enjoyed Ava and Seth's story. I enjoyed the mystery that surrounded the opening of Ava's store. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Ava is a feisty determined lady and is opening her store. Somebody doesn't want her to. I changed my mind as to who it was 3 or 4 times. Ok my first thought and last were the same person.
This was a quick and interesting read. It had mystery, smexiness, humor and a strong female lead character. I would have liked it to be longer but enjoyed it nonetheless!!
This was just an ok read for me. the story all seems to take place within a couple of weeks which seems kind of sudden for what happens in the end. Also they go very quickly from hate to love.
