This is a very short, very slender book about motivating employees. Some of the information seems like common sense and other bits are helpful. Some parts do not work so well for the organization that I am currently employed, but I can see a future where it may come in handy. It's a quick read with some nice points. I would recommend if you are a supervisor or manager with people under you. I would highly recommend if you are in an administrative position where the entire organization looks up to you.
It represents a useful guideline and book for those who are recently promoted to a leadership / management role within a company. The majority of the points are self-intuitive without having to read this book, however it represents a fast read and a start point in finding what motivates your team at an individual level and as a group.
As the title tell us, this book shows us how to motivate employees. Managers are responsible for employees' motivation. This statement seems usual but it is not practiced in most of the companies. Managers tend to scold employees saying "Why is your motivation so low?" This book reminds me of my high school days. When I was in high school, I belonged to the soccer club but the coach always scolded us for our low motivation. He never blamed his fault. At that time, I thought that the coach is responsible for the situation because everyone in our club took part in the club because they like soccer. I thought what killed our motivation was the way of coaching. I told it to my coach but he did not accept it and I resigned the club. Motivation is the most important factor for everything, I think. Without motivation, we cannot study, train myself, try to enhance myself. Though I do not agree with all of the direction in this book, it was worth reading. This book is especially focusing on how to make employees motivated. There are many strategies related to it in this book.
