Magic has no place in this world, so technically neither do I. Those around me want to see me burn—make me explode underneath their accusing glares—but I won't. There's only one person that gets me hot, and we've never spoken to each other. He's clueless to my fascination, but knows too much about secrets I've never whispered. He's different from the rest. The black sheep... Adam.

I want him in my future, but my past threatens everything I've longed for. I won't run, I'll fight. I don't know what destiny has planned. I only know love can be cruel, and fate is truly wicked.

"There's A Fire Burning In Her Heart..."

Have you ever experienced a loneliness that misshapes and taints the world in your eyes? Have you ever had something that secretly you have longed to share with someone else, but did not have anyone you trust to share it with? These are problems that face every teen and every person, from time-to-time, and these are the types of things that Mage faces day-to-day.

Bestowed with certain abilities that she, herself, cannot explain, Mage is forced to hide these parts of herself away from a world that is large and scary. She spends her time quietly stumbling through her day-to-day life until she meets a new student, Bernie, who does not know, nor cares, that Mage is the school and the town’s pariah. Mage questions whether or not she should allow this Bernie girl into her life, her inner sanctum. Life throws in a monkey-wrench, in the form of old childhood schoolmate, Adam. Does he know Mage’s secret? Has he told anyone if he does? What can or will Mage do about it?

As Mage struggles through her feelings, her new budding friendships, controlling her emotions, and her abilities, she must also battle whom she can trust, a dangerous presence, an unclear past, and a possibly darker future. Mage becomes an every-girl/every-boy. She lives to torture herself with thoughts of what it means to be special and different. Her inability to step out of the shadows and accept who and what she is becomes a beautiful story of love, acceptance, understanding, and power.

Capturing both the teenage mentality (to-a-T, mind you) and the beauty of being unlimited, Tabatha Vargo has created a world, though familiar to local Charlestonians, which goes beyond anything we can ever imagine. Trust, ghosts, love, and evil all combine into Mrs. Vargo's debut novel, introducing the world to Magic. I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed "The Flame Collector" and am eagerly anticipating the future of Mage McPherson.

5 fantastic, completely well deserved stars! If I could give it more I would!

Wow. This book was seriously amazing. It was nothing at all like I was expecting. I don’t even know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t this. Tabatha Vargo has created one of the best books I’ve ever read and, trust me, I’ve read a lot of books. Mage has to be one of my favorite heroine’s of all time. She wasn’t moody and indecisive every other page. She was real. Mage’s inner dialogue had me laughing out loud so many times I’ve lost count. People were giving me strange looks but I didn’t care. Part of me was torn between reading Wicked Fate super slow so that I could drag it out and another part wanted me to read it super fast because I needed to know what was going to happen next. The super fast part eventually won.

Don’t even get me started on Adam.
Too late.
Adam, Adam, Adam. sighs dreamily

Adam is officially my number 1 book boyfriend. He has trampled all the other competition and come in first! He is WONDERFUL! Everyone else thinks Mage is a freak but Adam has always seen the real Mage. He’s tall, gorgeous, and has the most beautiful green eyes. The sexual innuendos that come out of his mouth make me laugh and blush at the same time. But at the end of the day he’s in love with Mage and will do anything for her.

And one other thing you have to look forward to, and my favorite part: The Language of Flowers. That’s all I’m saying, you’ll have to read it to find out what it means.

Finally, I just want to say, this book ripped out my heart and stomped all over it, but in the best way possible. It is definitely in my top 10 favorites of 2012 and my top 10 favorite books of all time! It was that good! If you have any qualms about reading Wicked Fate, I’m telling you right now, FORGET ABOUT THEM AND READ THE BOOK. I haven’t felt this passionate about a book in a long time and I want to scream it for the world to hear.

Wicked Fate releases November 30th! So mark your calendars and you go buy it, read it, devour it, and love it!

Okay I had an opportunity to read the book as a beta reader, I stay up till four in the morning reading this amazing book, i could not put it down, it was so good i had to finish it to know what happens next, Mage isn't a normal teenage girl, she has a special gift, that she had ever since she was little and ever since she was little she got picked on and no one really talk's to her even now in high school they think she is a freak, but then a new girl comes along and wants to be friends with her and talks to her, at first she doesn't accept her, but finally she does, through out the her new life she learns more about her family history and finds out a lot of things she didn't know. These powers she has she sees her grandma and her best friend. She starts dating this guy named Adam ever since they where little he knew about her special power and never said anything to anyone because he doesn't think she is a freak. There are no words that can express how much I truly enjoyed this book. The imagery is fantastic! There is a kiss that is described so perfectly that it made me feel the way I did the first time I kissed my husband. It was like falling in love all over again. There were butterflies in my stomach, tingles in my toes, a giddy feeling all over, the works. Being a high school loner myself, I connected with the character of Mage immediately. The ability to feel a connection like that meant that I experienced her ups and downs with her which made it feel as though I was there in the story. Adam, well there are no words worthy of him. I gave my best to Edward, my former book love, and kicked him to the curb and moved Adam in right away. His romantic sentiments and flirtatious mannerisms had me swooning. This story is very well written. It has unique characteristics that I had not seen before. The ending, though not what I expected, left me panting for the next one!!

I started this review a few days ago and decided to erase what I originally put because no matter how bad a book is, there is no need to be rude with your "personal" opinion in a review. I know for a fact that a "real" Author reads and appreciates ALL reviews. Whether good or bad. I normally don't write a bad review and I usually HATE reviews that have the story of the book in it because that beats the reason to even read the book! With all that being said:

I read a recommendation on this book from another Author that I love so I decided to read it. I probably will not ever do that again. This was one of the most difficult books I ever made myself read through. It was nothing but the main characters POV. You have to read through the first 15% of the book before you read a real conversation between two people! Don't get me wrong, I like POV's but this book was extremely overkill!! Because it is literally over 95% POV!! Seriously! Not to mention there are grammatical errors. But those you can over look because most eBooks have them. This is a YA novel, but the fact that Tabitha has Mage, the main character, sticking her tongue out like a kindergartner constantly made me cringe every time. And she did it a LOT! Why is this bothersome? Because she also is written as a strong girl who has been taken care of herself since she was 13. Not someone you would picture acting like she's 5. Tabitha also contradicts herself in the story a few times. Example of a time at the end of the story:

***SPOILER ALERT***
One minute Mage doesn't want to live anymore because she has no reason to, then in the same paragraph she has so much to live for. (It wouldn't be a big deal but the reason she wants to give up is the SAME reason she has so much to live for?) UGH! MAKE UP MY MIND! Oh, and let's not forget that her father, whom she just meets during a fight for her life, steps up to her and says ""I can't leave you, Mage. You're my daughter. It's my job to protect you!" My hand ignites with purple flames and I hold it to his face. "Do you see this? I don't need your protection - my mother does. Go...now!" I scream."" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! What Father in his right mind would leave her to fight his Father in a Witch battle??? Not to mention she just got done saying she wasn't strong enough to do this. (To fight Cain's dad.) I'm sorry, but this was poorly thought out.

Again, I really don't like writing negative reviews in extreme ways, but I really don't think this was really thought out carefully before it was published. There are just too many inconsistencies within the story along with the other things I wrote above.

This book has quite a few great ratings and I honestly don't know why. (BUT, and yes, I am going to contradict myself here: I do think the basic story is a good one. I do think that if Tabitha took a little more time in writing it out, READING IT to herself, and then correcting the inconsistencies and had more ACTUAL conversations, this would have been a really good book! Not to mention the cover of the book is actually fantastic. But, you cannot judge a book by it's cover on this one.) But, I am sorry to say, I would NOT recommend this book as it is written right now. UNLESS you are into nothing but a Narrator type of read and don't really care about mixed up consistencies. If so, this book is definitely for you.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! I was immediately hooked after the first page. I haven't read a book like this before. The fact that it is different from all the other books out there, makes it another favorite on my shelf. The story is written beautifully, and the world that Tabatha created, was unlike the others. I felt as if I was there. I felt as if I was there, and I was able to see picture everything around me with the descriptions that Tabatha used. I also love seeing characters grow through the stories. Along with the romance, that is my favorite part. I love seeing characters persevere though the troubles they are facing and become stronger. I was able to feel everything the characters felt as well. I loved it!!!!

Mage is different from everyone else. At school she is considered weird and a freak. They fear her. All of a sudden a new girl, Bernie, shows up at school and immediately tries to befriend her. Then Adam, her long time crush, starts paying attention to her all of sudden. Mage decides to make this school year different so she tries socializing for a change. Bernie and Adam immediately become important people in he life. Weird things start happening though. Mage starts having nightmares, or at least, she thinks they are nightmares. Her powers become much stronger than what they were. Will Mage be strong enough to overcome these changes? Will you solve the riddles from her nightmares and the ghosts of her family? What will become of Mage?

I loved Mage as a character. She was a social outcast, but she preferred it that way at the beginning. She was always afraid of hurting someone. But things change. She changed. Bernie and Adam became very important people in her life. I got to watch Mage be a loner at the beginning, but throughout the story, I got to see her open up. She was a character that I easily related to. Her powers were pretty amazing as well. On her sixteenth birthday, her powers become way stronger. She is able to anything and everything. This is where things changed for her though. People are looking for her. She finds out huge secrets out fer family, especially her mother and father. She stays strong though and that is what I loved about her. No matter what, she fights.

Who could not love Adam in this story. He is such a sweetheart. I am totally swooning. He has always noticed her since they were little. He knew a little about her powers and didn't tell a soul. As he realizes how strong her powers actually are, he supports her and doesn't run away. He is in total awe of her and her powers. She starts to feel because of him. The love they share is the real kind. The kind that is stronger than death. Lets face it, he is such a romantic as well. What he does for her on Christmas and her birthday was very sweet. I also loved how he sent her messages through flowers. I was hugely swooning there. What he does to protect her, shows how deep their love is.

There were so many shocks and surprises throughout this book. She learns about the history of her family and Thaddeus's story surprised me. I feel so sorry for him. Mage also learns the truth about her mother and father and the reason she was created. The ending was such a shock to me. I had a feeling it was going to happen, but I was really hoping it wouldn't. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. The ending tore me to pieces. It took me forever to finish, because I couldn't quit crying. There is hope though. I can't wait to read the sequel!!!

Great debut Tabatha!!!!! I will definitely be preordering me a signed copy from Tabatha's blog. This book is a must have and a must read!!!! I recommend it to everyone!!!!

WOW!! Totally captivating and enthralling!!
I want to begin by saying that the cover of Wicked Fate is beautiful and it alone is very alluring. But, the pages within this book draw you deeper in to the world of Mage and the turmoil that this intriguing teen has to go through.
With a heroine that is strong and smart, Mage carries us through her life of solidarity. Until a new student, Bernie, enters the social mess of Mage's life, something new wakes up in Mage and sets things in motion for the journey we are taking in Wicked Fate.
Mage has always had strange things happen with her, which has caused her lack of friends in her school, but now with Bernie there, not only is she experimenting with trusting others, but she is also falling in love. Yes, the boy she has crushed on all her life opens up to her and the world wind relationship begins.
Tabatha created some fabulous characters in this unique tale of Wicked Fate. I loved seeing Mage change so much throughout this book as well as her friends. There are times with the events that were happening to Mage, that I couldn't fathom that she was only turning 16.
Mage has had to endure so much in her lifetime and as we navigate through the pages of Wicked Fate, your heart is singing for joy one moment, and completely ripped out another.
I really enjoyed this refreshing new tale and I am eagerly awaiting book 2 in hopes for many things to come.
With surprising details, exciting action, a wonderful romance, and great characters, Wicked Fate is a book you don't want to miss out on this year!!

I got this book when Tabatha released it before she pulled it because she wanted to make it prefect so I guess you could say I beta read it for her. I loved this book. I read a few chapters when she had it on Inkpop and was addicted then. I finally got to read the whole book and couldn't put it down I finished it in one day. From the beginning she draws you in and gets you hooked on the characters and the story. She adds so much detail to her book that if you have never been to Summerville, SC you could picture it. Everything she describes would fit in to Summerville 100%. Mage and Adam remind you not of the popular kids that you always wished you could be but of yourself. You could see the things that Mage and Adam do and overcome as part of normal life with a little magic thrown in. I can not wait until Tabatha gets done with the other books so I can find out what happens. I also can not wait until she releases Wicked Fate for everyone to read because I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Thank you Tabatha for such a great book and allowing me read it even before it was finished.

WOW!!! This book is absolutely amazing!! I was hooked from page one! The Language of Flowers. *sigh* Definately my favorite part. The author does an wonderful job developing the characters and describing everything to make it so easy to see in your mind. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster and im still wiping tears as I write this review. Mage is one tough cookie! She has endured more heartache and struggles in her 16 years than most do in a lifetime. Enter Adam *swoon* He is such a strong, sweet, sexy, romantic guy!! (Definately on the top of the book boyfriends list!) And he is exactly what Mage needs to break her out of her shell. Mage and Adam are such a beautiful couple with a love so strong that they would do anything for each other. Oh Adam... *sigh* I loved reading as Mage evolved into this amazing, strong, brave person. I would definately recommend this book to anybody who loves to read. I cant wait to find out what happens in the next book!!

Oh, where to start? Wicked Fate was...WICKED. Wry. Wild. Wonderful. There is nothing I love more than a good witch tale. And this story had me immediately under it's spell. Beautifully written without the heavy prose of some of the other books I've read recently but just as well composed. Yes, composed. Perfectly presented, perfectly paced, perfectly peppered with... ah, it's just PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT. Tabatha has a great style and wicked wit. [Sorry, this review may be filled with a LOT of Wicked whatnot] She had me so enthralled, I was a WITCH whenever I had to put it down. Once was too much. And it wasn't pretty. Mage is a fantastic and fun character despite her sullen and snarky demeanor. She's done everything she can to not standout or draw attention to herself. But for all her efforts, some people just can't stay away. Not that she really wants them to. Especially Adam, the childhood dreamboat, her secret crush and one of the only kids that knows her BIG secret. So what is she trying so hard to hide? Well, Mage is able to do things she can't explain and doesn't understand. Weird things happen all around her- people notice small things, enough to make them suspicious but too afraid to guess what she might really be. People fear what they don't understand, so since grade school Mage is labeled a freak and other colorful nicknames she's been forced to live with. And can she really control the weather? Is that even possible? She seems to think so. It's cool and a bit disturbing. To deal she creates her own world of isolation. She's got a difficult, complicated life and it's about to get CRAZY. Okay, CRAZIER. And much more exciting. Ugh! This is one of those stories I want to tell you all about and I have to reel myself in to keep from spilling ALL the beans. So here's me reeling it in... Wicked Fate is filled with an amazing and intriguing cast of characters. From the new girl Bernie and her handsome charmer of a brother, Benjamin, to the mysterious and also charming, Thaddeus and Mage's grandparents (grandma is deceased), AND the adorable, lovable, and suddenly incorrigible Adam. As Mage reluctantly lets these chosen few get close, her world begins to open up. To possibilities, love, hopes and dreams...and nightmares. Mage isn't sure what's going on but she's determined to find out. Well, this is where the mystery, suspense and evil come into play. Oh you didn't know about the EVIL? Of course you did. What's a story engulfed in magic without evil doers? Tabatha fires up the broom and sends us on a whirlwind tour through Mage's family history. Mage quickly discovers not all is what it seems. In an effort to protect Mage, her family has created a tangled web of lies and cover ups that literally backfire in Mage's face. Now it's a fight to survive and she's not exactly sure what she's up against. So much for reeling it in. I've created my own tangled (more like gambled), web. And I am in no way doing this flawlessly crafted book of shadows any justice. Wicked Fate is smart and exhilarating and wicked fun. Chock full of weak in the knees romance, scandal, lots of action and you guessed it, MAGIC. I loved the intimacies of the stories between Mage and Adam, Mage and Thaddeus, and the mysteries hidden behind the doors (and gardens) of the family estate, Azalea Plantation. The way Tabatha portrays the powers contained within Mage's world is clever and different. The power behind the dark magic was kept a mystery until the end. And it was almost her undoing. I was mesmerized and fully connected from the start. Not once was I disappointed or disinterested. There was not one word wasted. I consumed it all. I fell instantly for these characters, and I fell hard. Yes, Tabatha Vargo has a way with words. I call that true magic. And it's wicked powerful.

I love love loved this book. It enthralled me and kept me captivated past the last word on the last page, right from the very beginning.

Its really not my fault anyway, if he wasnt eight people ahead of me looking like summer seduction on a stick, then maybe I could pay attention. It's simple....I blame him. ~ Mage on Adam

The characters were amazing, the story kept me guessing and the writing was superb. I felt the emotions of loneliness, sadness, pain, confusion, euphoria, and happiness as if I was alongside them living the story. My heart broke for Mage over and over again, but cheered for her during the happy times.

In a matter of a few months, I went from lonely and bizarre to friendly and amazing.

She was tough and stubborn but not so much it made me roll my eyes, she escaped her reality by writing her thoughts and talking to the ghosts of her grandmother and best friend Thaddeus. The friendships. Sire. The letter. The gifts. Adam. He was just *swoooooon*. And incredibly sweet. The language of flowers, awwwwwwwwwwwwwww. And their first kiss? *sigh*

Air. Please someone give me mouth-to-mouth! Adam? Mouth-to-mouth...please?

Ms Vargo has a way of injecting her stories and characters with a spunk that is fabulous and fun. I laughed more times than I can count. The story had me on the edge of my chair just waiting for the wtf moment that I knew was around the corner. The descriptions. Boy oh boy. They were stunning to behold. The plantation. The gardens. The weather. Everything. It was rich and full. The words were so perfect, I felt I was looking at photographs rather than reading words.

Strands of wisteria dangle from every old piece of rusted iron fence or broken porch, which gives the area a magical quality and fills the air with a sweet fragrance. ~ now tell me you don't want to visit Azalea Plantation?!

People you need to enter this world already and find out what had me so captivated that I was happy to skip meals, just to sneak in a few extra pages, to read about a girl that literally burns with fire & whose emotions changes the weather in a matter of moments. A love that lives on even after death & a magic that I need more of. Pronto.

I've done some crazy things in my life, but this one takes cake. No, this one takes the cake, eats the cake, and then goes straight into a diabetic coma.

Well done Ms Vargo. You have another stalkerfan!

There are a few things that I need to let you know before I dive into this review. 1) This book was given to me by the author, Tabatha Vargo, to beta read. 2) This book is not yet released; however, the moment that I know, I will let you know! And 3) I want to say THANK YOU for this amazing read!

Best part of the book: For the first time I was not sure what to choose as the "best part". So, I am going to say the best part is: Tabatha Vargo. She is the most descriptive author I think I have ever read. I felt sad when Mage was sad. I felt heartache with Adam. I laughed at them and I felt like I was sitting in the garden with them. Her attention to detail in the book was perfection. I was entwined in this world with Mage and Adam that I almost skipped going to a football game (I never skip football! EVER!) When I started this story, I felt so sad for Mage. She has no parents and was raised by her grandparents, but she always had these "abilities". Because of her abilities she was an outsider. She never had friends, but always had a crush on Adam. I love their backstory the most. Then Adam begins to notice her and talks to her! Soon, they spend time with each other and Mage begins to "break-out" of her shell (a little bit). However, it can never be that simple. Mage's past begins to haunt her and it all becomes so complex. I don't want to go into much detail because Tabatha Vargo does such an amazing job with this book that YOU HAVE TO READ IT!

Not so great about book: I am trying to replay the book in my head and think of what I did not like about it. However, there was one thing that I did not like (and I won't reveal it because it will spoil the book). Nonetheless, I know that it was a must because it pulls the story together. I can live with it though because I know that BOOK 2 is going to be outstanding!

Whoaaa! Oh my God! So sad, sweet and... oh my God, I have no words!
I loved, loved, loved this book! And all the characters were very good! I liked Mage a lot, and then Adam, Thaddeus, Bernie, Ben, Sire...And I actually swooned and I was in awe when Mage and Adam were together. It was so beautiful! So emotional! This is what I'm talking about when I say that I can connect with a character and their feelings. I could feel their love, their passion, their desperation, their sadness, their pain.
And I loved the way Mage's moods reflected to the weather. Or how when she was kissing Adam everything bloomed around them. How when she was angry or sad or happy, the sky reflected her feelings. It was all very magical and I loved the atmosphere in the book.
The story too was very good and I found it hard to take a break from reading it and get a few hours sleep. I didn't want to stop reading, although I had to.
I loved the way Adam "talked" to Mage with flowers. Loved their first kiss. Loved every other kiss (and kind of making-out sessions they had). Loved how deeply they loved each other.
For most of the time while reading the book, I was in awe. And felt rough with emotions. I even shed tears!
I can't believe what happened to Adam! And I can't wait to read the next book in the series (hoping it's coming soon)!
It's a must read, absolutely!

update: finished the revised version the other day and all I will say is DAMN. I thought it was good before but the changes Tabatha Vargo made were incredible. you can tell how much she has grown over the past year as an author. well worth rebuying the book for the changes. ready for book two now!

Wonderful book!!! I started and finished it in one afternoon/evening, I just could not put it down.
Even though it is directed at a younger crowd the story is so well written even adults find themselves sucked in and taken back to their school days. Mage goes thru so many highs and lows in this book she should have whiplash. Don't want to spoil the book for anyone so the most I will say is have tissues handy towards the end of this one.
Now what to do till the next book in the series is finished =(

This book was really good. My heart broke for Mage. She was all alone in the world. Her grandfather cant remember half the time due to his illness and the only friend she has is a ghost named Thaddus. I loved reading about Mage blooming and growing. She went from being a loner to having a best friend and finding love. Of course nothing is ever easy and Mage and Adam have a tough road ahead of them. There is danger all around and yet these two are so connected to each other that I had some sweet sighing moments. Adam was such a sweetheart and you cant help but fall for him. I thought that Mage was a really great character, sometimes with YA books the heroine can be annoying to the point of distraction. Mage wasn't thank goodness. Cant wait for more of the series.

I started this book because I was intrigued by the summary and cover. I was interested at first, but then stopped at chapter 11. I stopped at chapter 11 for ten months.
Today, I finally noticed the book again. I open it and what do you know? Unfinished at chapter 11.
Surprisingly, I remembered pretty much everything and started off again at chapter 11. The book caught my attention again for a few chapters, but then it started to get crappy.
Mage was a lovesick girl with emotional problems and it seems like all she ever did was cry and run to Adam.
The ending was so stupid, too. I'm surprised I even finished this book. Wicked Fate was not my cup of tea.

3.5- original concept, but same plot as most YA books. Girl gets to know hot guy, they get together, guy finds reason to stay away(obviously for her benefit) and they get back together, defying fate. I actually laighed out loud at some parts at how cheesy it was! however, it did have an interesting twist at the end and I enjoyed the main character. I'll probibly read the next, but not with baited breath.

I thought this book was a stereotypical representation of the YA genre.

1. A girl has magic powers (Though it was very interesting that she knew about them and could control a little bit of it).
2. Girl falls for a hot guy who knows of her 'creepy' powers.
3. Evil people come in and convince the hot guy that the only way to save/protect his true love is for him to completely avoid and ignore her.
4. Girl gets him back, but later in the book wishes to protect him by staying away from him, so she gives him the excuse that she 'needs space.'

And then, there were some stupid things in the book said girl did which got me so frustrated, but I can only remember two events clearly (It took me some time to get through this book, so I can't remember everything).
She never even READ one of the MANY books in this HUGE library. I don't recall anyone telling her she couldn't, and she said she loved reading, so why not read the library books! And when she had those nightmares and her grandmother (who didn't tell the girl why this was happening) said for her to tell them to the girl's grandfather, and did she? NO! She didn't. Why? Because he had a mental disease, and she didn't want to talk to him with his constant mistaking the girl for her mother.
*sigh*
Also, when the grandfather suddenly had a break from his mental illness, it felt forced because the girl said that he had never gone back to reality before. It really felt like just a cause for the girl to finally tell her grandfather the nightmare, and guess what? He doesn't tell her anything except that everything will be all right and she'll understand soon... Then, when she questions him more, his mind gets pulled under by the disease. It all felt very forced, like it was all just for her to actually tell him the stupid nightmare.

It was very cheesy, in my opinion, that the father went along with his father's plan to seduce the girl's mother in order to create the girl for his father's evil plan, but then fell in love with the girl's mother and 'protected' her by staying away...

And then, the mother gives the same excuse as to why she wasn't in the girl's life earlier: she was 'protecting' her by staying away from her...

I hope you can see why I'm frustrated. Personally, if you made it this far down the review, I applaud you for being able to deal with so much negativity. Not to say it wasn't all bad, just the last third/quarter of it was cheesy/stereotypical.

The first half, at least, was very interesting... It just happened to deteriorate from there until the very end, like, the last couple of chapters when it picked up a bit.

I must end this review here, but I have to say that I probably won't pick up the sequel unless I feel a burning need.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope it helps in any way! ^_^

Wicked Fate has been one of the most favorite books I’ve read in 2012!
Madge McPherson is unlike the others. Alone with only a grandpa that doesn’t remember who she is, Madge has to take care of herself. But is she really alone?
At school Madge is a loner. No one talks to her no one even looks at her. When the new school year begins Madge hopes it would be different this year. She is about to get her wish fulfilled and then some. A new friend – Bernie who’s just so bubbly and full of life that it makes her give in and then comes the boy she has been crushing on since second grade – Adam – takes notice. Things definitely have changed for her this year.
Madge is different, she is special. She has always been special but she will find out just how special she is when she turns 16. That’s when her world will turn upside down and everything as it was will change again.
I absolutely loved Tabatha Vargo’s writing style. The book is very well written and made me feel like I was right there! I loved the titles and the quirky little graphics that were there along them (Yes I love weird little details, makes it more special!). And well how can I forget the cover! *-* This is one of those books that can be judged by the cover. The book made me smile and laugh and angry too... Just everything you can hope for in a good book. My favorite part would be the lines from her journal...
This one definitely goes in my re-read pile and my top 10 favorite books of the year! Before I start giving out spoilers and such – JUST GO GET THIS BOOK ALREADY!! Its that good!

For Mage McPherson...

Wicked Fate, is what it is. Mage learns to love, discover, fight, and considers making friends. Starting out as a loner and self contained, she is finally forced to branch out and become somewhat social. Though she's never to far away from those that she that care for her, she discovers that Bernie is what she needs in her life.

She's never really known her mother and father, so knowing who and where she came from makes life a bit troubling for Mage. She wants answers, she wants to know where she came from and what's happening to her. There are only a few people that know and those few people are gone.

The question is what will Mage go through to find the answers she's searching for, to figure out what is happening to her, to survive a battle unknown. What distance will she go through to save the man she loves, and will being together help or hinder the dangers up ahead.

Find out by taking a journey with Mage as all the above is laid out in an beautiful compelling story, captivating and alluring. There is no going back once you start the endearing journey with Mage McPherson as her story unfolds and the truths are known.

The writer did very well with the written aspect of the book, there were a couple errors that caught my attention though all in all nothing that took away from the story. A must read for everyone.

Let me start by saying, if you want the same teen love drama where only the names have changed, this is not the book for you. It is different. What Mage can and can’t do. Her relationship with Thaddeus and her grandparents and her best friend…it’s all different - and when Mage sets her eyes on something, the whole world rocks. About the only normal relationship she has is with Sire…well, not really, but normal by her standards.
On the plus side: Totally unexpected events occur. You can’t guess what will happen next. And with the cliffhanger at the end, I’m afraid to hope for what book two will bring. I see a light at the end of the tunnel, but it could be Tabatha driving a train right at my heart. It’s exciting. I like it.
On the downside: It made me cry, several times. I mean boo-hoo like a freakin’ baby. I seriously don’t want to cry over fictional characters. I try real hard not to cry over real life people. But, that’s how good Tabatha is. Her writing sucks you in like an F-5 dropping you wherever her little heart desires.
Bottom line: Get this book as fast as you can. Curl up in a cozy spot with a hot tea and box of tissue. Don’t plan on getting up until you reach the end.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Tabatha Vargo done a wonderful job with it and I can not wait to read Book 2.
I love that Mage was a loner at first and then the one guy she liked and thought would have nothing to do with her finally did and she absolutely LOVED Adam!
And it all started with Bernie. Which Mage at first wasn't to sure of but that goes to show that you don't judge a book by its cover cause what is inside and what it reveals is completely different!
I don't want to give any spoilers so I am gonna make this all short simple and sweet ;).
I wish like crazy that I could give Tabatha 10 stars but I can't.

So I am gonna end this with what a wonderful book it is. It had me from the first chapter. I couldn't put it down and with kids i had to which made me very sad :). It is far most the best book i have ever read in my entire life! SO I am gonna end this now and say Tabatha keep up the good work and your a wonderful person and author. Honor to have you as a friend :).

Let's just say that it was... actually, I can't form coherent thoughts. I want to like it, I do but there are many elements that are stopping me. I just. Ugh. This is hard to explain.

I like the story I guess. I don't like the development. I like the magic, the paranormal stuff but Mage's heritage was not explained more nor described better. It was focused on how Mage was dealing with being different and her relationship with Adam (Gah! Instalove). I would have loved the idea of the language of flowers if it was utilized more in the development of Mage's and Adam's relationship (I'm having an Immortals moment here).

What do you know about true love at sixteen?

Despite issues, my ever curious mind wants to know what will happen next.

I was completely drawn into the this book from the first chapter. I needed it finish it in one day. I was determined to know what happened to the engrossing characters. I needed to see how the love would overcome the trials of the book. I am completely in awe of Tabatha Vargo's ability to get into the minds of these teen kids. I have a 15 year old daughter and could completely see her in the situations and responding the same way. Excellent Job Tabatha. Cant wait to read the next in the series. When is that coming out again? BUY THIS BOOK you will not regret it!

This was such an awesome read! First off, I am a Charlestonian, so talking about Summerville and swinging on the swings at Waterfront Park just made me feel even more connected to this story, this wonderful story! I immediately fell in love with Mage. She's had so much tragedy in her life at such a young age, but yet, she keeps going. I love how her character florishes and develops. Plus, I love Adam, and the chemistry between the two of them, it seems so real! I cannot wait for the next book to come out! Great job Tabatha!

I finished this book in one sitting! I really couldn't put it down. Tabatha Vargo brought me into Mage's world and wouldn't let me go. I am still reeling from the ending and can't wait for the next installment. Mage made me feel like I was really experiencing all her firsts along with her. And Adam...just...sigh! I can't say too much about him, because I don't want to spoil anything, but the flower thing was just so swoony!!

Loved this book from the first page. Every page kept me wanting more I could't put it down. I loved the story it self, I loved the way it was written most of all I love the details. I fell in love Mage and Adam. I couldnt help but feel heart broken with what happen to Adam but I can why that was important because I think that going to be a very important part of the next book. Which I can't wait for and hopefully we dont have to wait to long.
