Rate this book
Lucky him, he found his mate. Just one teensy, tiny problem. She was already married to someone else.

But Chris wasn’t about to let something like ‘until death do us part’ keep him from claiming his woman. He’ll do anything to win his mate, including throwing his attractive cousin at the pesky husband.

Despite the danger, and her marital status, Jiao can’t help falling for a handsome wolf. Honor says she should stay away, but her curious inner cat is flexing her claws and demanding they claim their man.

But Jiao isn’t the only one falling in love. When her husband finds himself head over heels with a she-wolf, will Sheng do the right thing and end the marriage sham? Or will the past catch up first and bite them?

Eve Langlais knows how to add surprises in her books, but this book took surprise to a whole new level. Not only do you get a super huge surprise about the married couple by wondering where in the heck Eve was going to take this storyline or how in the heck she was going to pull this one off, but Eve also added another surprise with an extra couple mating in this story, so you also get two romances in one. As always you get fun characters, action and hot mating. The characters are a joy to read and the storyline will hold your attention.

There is a lot to be spoiled so I have to keep this short and hope you’ll just give this novel a try. I really loved the way Chris’s family was brought into the story, reading everyone made the story realistic and fun. I enjoyed the tension between the true mates because of the marriage and I loved how Eve brought it all together, it really made for a fun read.

I didn’t read book two in this series, I didn’t feel like I missed anything. You do get some mention of the couple in book two and it will make you want to read to find out how they got together, but you can read this one as a standalone.

Teaser
“Well, exactly what do you plan to do if he’s not just her husband, but her mate? Matings are for life.”
“I guess killing him is out of the question?”
“Christopher!”
He grinned. “Just kidding.” Mostly.
“Perhaps, you’re mistaken. It’s been a while since you came home smelling like a bottle of cheap perfume. Maybe someone needs to get laid.”
A grimace crossed his face. “Ma!”
“Don’t ma me. You’re a grown man, and like all males, you need sexual intercourse to keep your brain functioning.”
“We are not having this discussion,” Chris growled.

Poor Chris a player and a ladies man finds his mate, but before he can claim her to be his, he gets another surprise.. She is freakn' MARRIED! Not wanting to go down his sister or brothers path and have a menage relationship he is determined to get "Jill" to be his. After all the man she married is not her true mate.

The chemistry started as soon as Jill opened the door. They both realize right away that they are mates but there is the little problem of Jills husband Jack. But Jill being married isn't even half of it. What her and Jack have together is not a normal in any sort of way marriage! I mean it, so if you are like cheaters suck please have no fear because you will soon find out that this is so not the case.

Even though the marriage isn't as it seems it is still hard for Jill to be with Chris. But our handy man is not giving in without a fight. They start off with a few stolen moments after his cousin Gina decided to help out with Jack. She is going to be a distraction but soon finds out that her Jack are way more then that.

Before any of these couples can be together shit hits the fan. All Jack and Jills secrets come pouring out!!

Oh my I am sorry. I totally went into summary mode. There is just so much happening. We are dealing with 2 couples, well kinda 3 if you count the marriage that isn't a marriage.

I love Chris's family! Seriously his mom kicks ass. When the bad guys come for Jill, Chris knows just what to do. He calls his mommy. A wise call because the woman is a bad ass. The family relationships are just something I totally enjoyed.

This is a great read. While I enjoy the menage couples, I am really a one guy one girl kinda gal. I guess its that possessive side in me that just can't totally wrap my head around sharing.

Already Freakn' Mated is sure to bring a smile to your face, some snorts and of coarse get you a little hot and bothered!! Eve Langlais can really do no wrong in my reading world!!

Langlais’ snarky and fun writing shines here as chemistry rules the day and mating fevers take over. Plot twists galore kept me on my toes throughout this novel. There were more than a few ‘didn’t see that coming’ moments. The intricate storytelling brought it all together in a manner that highlighted the budding romance and the lurking problems facing these characters.

The intricate yet seemingly twisted relationship between the four main characters kept me on my toes throughout. Sheng’s over-the-top personality made it really easy to grasp the severity of their situation. Chris’ desire to do right yet being caught up in his needs was priceless. I felt so close to these characters as Langlais developed their situations. When everything came to a head I couldn’t help but laugh and sigh in relief.

Once again Langlais has created a tale that was suspenseful, funny, and oh so very hot. It was a brilliant read that not only held my attention but also further developed her world of the shifters.

I have to admit, I have a stalking Eve Langlais book problem (and I don't regret it one bit!). I think I've picked up ALL her books at some point or another and I have to say that Already Freakn' Mated is just as good as all the others I've picked up by her. If you haven't read her books before and you love hot, spicy, humor filled Paranormal Romances, then Eve is your girl. Even her Alien stories (which I normally don't really do sci-fi fantasy) has me in a tizzy.

We have Chris and Jill. Then we have Jill's husband Jack. Sounds suspicious right? Well, it is suspicious and you'll never suspect up front. Chris gets contracted by Jack to build a gym in the basement of the house. Jill and Jack are shapeshifters and because of certain circumstances, must stay in door, so the built in kitty gym will help them both out. From their first meeting Jill and Chris know they are mates.. the problem? Jill is already mated. They try to fit their attraction, but you know how these things go ;) Can't fight a mating bond can you?

I loved beginning to end and we'll find another couple who gets mated in this book at the same time, which is cool. We also get to see some other characters from her previous Freakin' Shifter series like Naomi, Francine, Mitchell, Alejandro, Javier, Ethan etc ;) I always like a little catch up with my fav characters later on.

I think my favorite part about Eve's books is that there's always a HEA after each book. Every. Single. Book. I get my HEA (Happily Ever After for those wondering). Don't get me wrong, I do like series where its the same character over and over but the build up/tension/cliffhangers on those drive me CRAZY. I'd rather meet new couples that are entertwined with the other characters from the series for a nice, awesome read every time.

If you like Eve, this is just as good as all her books, maybe even better :) If you haven't tried her you do NOT know what you are missing! (Seriously, I tear through massive amounts of paranormal authors, sometimes a book a day when I'm not busy) And btw I think Eve is just as good as all my huge published authors like Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Yasmine Galenorn etc... JUST as good folks as those authors. :) <3

Chris and Jiao, Jiao and Sheng, Sheng and Gina

There are a whole lot of couples going on in this storyline.

Chris meets Jiao and knows instantly Jiao is his mate. Although Chris is there to build a gym for Jill (Jiao). Chris was hired by Jack (Sheng), Jiao's husband. Oh dear, that is a problem for Chris.

Chris is determined to win Jill at any cost and gets his cousin Gina to distract Jack. Jack wants Gina but does not know why. Jack can't let the she-wolf distract him. Jill and Jack are married or so everyone thinks. And they must keep it that way to survive.

***SPOILER ALERT***
Sheng and Jiao are brother and sister. They escaped a madman who is set on collecting shifters. And in their case rare breeds like themselves. Now they have escaped and are in hiding but cannot afford the freedom they want, need, and crave since this madman named Kaleb will find them and capture them once again.

Chris and Gina draw to much attention to Jack and Jill and in turn Kaleb figures out where they are now that Chris and Jiao have figured out they are mates Chris will not let her run they must stay and fight. Sheng is not happy with this but he needs to protect his sister and his potential mate.

Once all is said in done Jiao and Sheng have a new family who excepts them and their past.

This is a good story with a twist that we have seen in other shifter books before. But the bond of the family and friends is so loving and undeniable. I just love the interaction of the family and friends and how they always stick together to help each other. FAMILY BONDS. Simply beautiful relationships.

Rating: 3 STARS

Happy Reading!

When Chris knocked on the door of a potential client he never expected it to be opened by his mate. He also never expected her to already be married. But Chris isn't about to let a little thing like that get in his way, especially when the marriage doesn't seem like a happy one.

I am really enjoying this series, it is a lot of fun, full of romance, sex and humour. This book is a little bit different from the previous two, where poor Jiao is short changed and instead of having two mates, she is stuck with only one. Instead we have a secondary romance featuring Jiao's brother and Chris's cousin to make up for the lack of three way action.

The romance and action went along expected lines, which although was predictable, it was nevertheless enjoyable. Eve Langlais has created such a great batch of really likable characters that even though you may know what is going to happen, you just enjoy being along for the ride.

This was an entertaining quick read, with not only a good primary romance, but also a great secondary one as well, the more I read this series, the more I enjoy it, I can't wait to read the next one.

I barely have started reading this book and I already feel the desire to write a review. I have been enjoying the works of Eve Langlais a lot lately. She writes fun, sexy, uncomplicated stories with happy endings. She is a dirty dirty lady and I love it. I have read too many pearl-clutching indignant innocent virgin stories of late and shit gets old.

However as much as I love her, in this book, she does a thing that annoys me. Almost every time she mentions Jiao and Sheng she mentions their ethnicity. I know this has to do with the dominant paradigm in our society and the tendency to consider white as default. But come on. Mention it once if you must and then move on.

While we can applaud authors for writing diverse characters I think it is also ok to challenge them to do better. By no means am I suggesting that she not mention their ethnicity at all but every time? Mentioning it almost every time separates those people as other. It is like a red flag on that character. It takes you out of the story, or at least it does for me.

If I were to tell someone I had friends coming over and I was like "yeah Tom, Jamal and my Asian friend Derek are coming." It would sound weird right? People would wonder what's up with me and Derek and my weird relationship with Asian people. That is what the experience of reading this book is like. It would be different if in each description of the characters they were doing something so specifically Asian that their heritage was worth mentioning. But no they are just being people. And yet I am hard pressed to find a part of the story where the characters are mentioned without their Asianess being mentioned.

I wish I could say that this is the first problematic race comment I have found in Langlais's writing. The fact that there isn't a nuanced way of writing about race in these books is annoying but not unexpected. I can live with it. However in true 'your fave is problematic" fashion, Eve was a little racist in the book preceding this one. In it, one of the characters makes a joke about a cat being on the menu of a Chinese restaurant. Not to be the bearer of bad news Eve, but that is a racist joke.

I am still going to finish the book. I enjoy the series otherwise and may update this review after reading it with my thoughts at the conclusion. But this is just one of the parts of being a person of color, the occasional realization that sometimes people just don't 'get it' all the way. To that, I say good effort guys, do better.

**Update**

I still haven't finished the book but stand by my original statement. Jiao and Sheng introduce themselves with Anglo names Jack and Jill and this is the crux of some of the other characters suspicion of them. Maybe it's because I am from the SF Bay Area, but that shit is not unusual. Many people of all backgrounds change their names when immigrating. Some to assimilate. At this point in the story, we know the characters and their assumed names and yet still they are going to get referred to at every turn by their ethnicity. This may seem like a weird point to harp on but for those who don't understand where I am coming from, imagine the story was about a white couple. If every time the husband was referred to he was called the white man, or the Caucasian, that would be weird. So why then do it for people of color?

There was a racist joke made by one of the brothers of the main love interest Chris. How does Chris respond? "Don't let mom hear you making racist jokes you know how it upsets her." Weak response. This is not how someone who thinks their life mate is an Asian woman should respond to a racist joke. His response is not "I find your joke offensive and I won't allow/will kick your ass if you say something like that again." No, it's 'don't let our mom find out." And! It just seems weird that in a universe where people change into literal animals that they have these funny hang-ups about race. I don't even know how to unpack the reference to Javier in this book as a 'Latin type," as his descriptor. What the fuck does that even mean? Sigh. This review has gotten long and I am sure I will end up with more to say as I approach the end...

Chris FINALLY found his mate. Problem? She’s married!

Chris is in agony. He found his mate and he wants her. The problem is she’s already married to a stick in the mud. Jiao also wants to be with Chris, but she can’t. Sheng stops her at every opportunity. But then Sheng finds his mate. What’s a shifter to do? It’s all so convoluted!

Once again Eve Langlais brought to life some interesting characters that pop off the page of the book. The story draws you in and keeps you reading. You can’t put it down.

Chris is an amazing character. He has honor and integrity but when he finds his mate, all bets are off. He tries to do the right thing. He wants to do the right thing. It’s just so hard. His wolf is pulling at him, demanding he claim his mate.

Jiao is in an even more difficult situation. She’s married. She’s hiding. Her past can get them all hurt. But she wants to live. She wants to be with her mate.

Sheng is in a similar situation. He’s found his mate, but like Jiao, his past can bring them all down.

But you can count on Chris’s family to do whatever it takes to keep family safe and help them be with their mates. They rally around them wreak a little havoc!

I truly love this series. Eve Langlais has become one of my favorite authors.

This was a pretty good story. It's kind of cool because there's not actually any cheating in the story and two couples come out of it in the end. :D

So the story starts off with Chris meeting Jiao & Sheng when he comes to their house to give them a quote for a job. He knows right off that Jiao is his mate but doesn't know if Sheng is another mate or if they are just married. He decides to find out and try to win her away from Sheng (because he really doesn't want a menage).

Chris tried not to push Jiao at first and tried to respect her "marriage" even though the mating fever made it hard on them. In an effort to get time alone with Jiao, Chris arranges for his cousin, Gina to distract Sheng. This leads to interesting things when Sheng and Gina can't stay away from each other even though they try to dislike each other.

Things are interesting as the two couples come in to being while the previous marriage must be dealt with. There is also some danger that threatens Jiao & Sheng but fortunately they now have a new family to help them out.

I really liked the characters in this story and found the story very enjoyable. It was a good, fun read. I'm looking forward to proceeding with the next book in the series. :D

This one really fell flat for me and I was sooo surprised. I have really enjoyed every other Eve Langlais book out there, so I'm thinking this one make be a fluke. And for those of you worried about the cheating spouse issue - that gets cleared up quickly so don't worry about it.

Chris was a little boring for me. He was too much like the other shifters in his alpha male, I'm going to take what is mine attitude. He was just a little too cliche. When he finds out his mate is already married, he sets up a grand scheme to try and convince her to leave her husband.

Jiao isn't what you would expect. Although she is a little cat like, we don't really get to see that side of her very often. Her husband is a big stick in the mud though. And while he has his reasons, he really goes overboard with them. When these reasons show up in town with a mission that needs thwarting, the whole town will come together.

But this was another part that just didn't fit. If there was such an awful bad guy that was harming shifters, wouldn't the shifter community have gotten wind of it somehow? I just find the whole bad guy hard to believe.

I'm going to keep going in the series because the next books look great. I think this one just wasn't for me.

This rocked and made me smile and laugh. Out loud. Many times.
Jiao and Sheng are running from something. Chris meets Jiao and sparks fly. Both realize they are mates. But Jiao is already married.
I liked the twist on the marriage. That's all I can say without spoiling anything. What makes this series a blast is Chris family. They're a hoot! I liked the additional romantic story in this too. Sheng takes some getting used to. Liked the development with Kaleb. Safe to say paybacks are a bitch.

I absolutely love EL and freak'n series. Chris wasn't my favourite character but I started to like home quickly when he met jiao. I loved that this story is more about 4 characters the just jiao and Chris. This was different to the other books and I didn't like the possible cheating but the became mute as story developed. Liked that we got to see old characters. we also got to see babies in family. Great HEA

This is book 3 in the Freakn Shifters series. This was the first book in the series to have one make not two for the woman. I suppose technically it did but the other dude was her brother pretending to be her husband. But the action scene was good and surprisingly twisted. I really like this series.

* I recommend reading the previous books to learn more about certain side characters.

When going to one of his new jobs as a contractor, wolf-shifter Chris couldn't imagine that the universe would throw his mate right into his face. But his mate is already married to someone else, so taking the regular route would not be an option. Jiao really wants to mate with Chris, but she has many secrets and coming out would put her and her brother in a lot of trouble. But the mating urge can't be ignored and when Chris throws his crazy cousin at Sheng, all hell breaks loose.

Another quite shallow entry in the series, luckily the main characters were fairly interesting even though there is not a lot of character progression. However, there is an actual villain in this entry and even though he also gets dealt with in this entry, this feels more like other Eve Langlais novels that I enjoyed a lot more. There are two romances in this book and it does get a bit confusing at times, however, it is written quite well and fairly enjoyable. Also, it left me wanting for more, so onto the next entry!

Heather's Notes
So I did like this book for the most part. I did not how long they left the "climax" of the story linger. After the bad guy, found out where they were. I did like the interaction with the characters. These are cute reads, and I will probably continue to not in any hurry to do so.

This is a great series! Sheng and Jiao are snow leopard shifters who are in a sort of witness protection program after escaping captivity years ago. They are brother and sister, but posing as a married couple and have recently moved into the Ottawa area. Chris takes a remodeling job on their house and discovers that Jioa is his mate - but the thinks she's already married! Sheng was funny - so uptight and when he met Gina (a cousin of Chris') he doesn't know what hit him! In this book you get two couples finding their mates and it's got lots of sexy times and excitement!!!

2 for the Price of 1!

There are actually 2 matings in this book as brother & sister find their mates.

Jiao & her brother have been hiding since they escaped from an evil man that kept them in the Northern Rockies. They move here & there to try & not get kidnapped again; this time they are pretending to be husband & wife.

Chris meets the “wife” & knows instantly that she’s his mate.

Now you’ll have to read the book to find out how Chris & Jiao finally get mated & who else finds a mate in this book to.

Interesting. I must say.... with this marriage there were a few things I didn’t see coming lol. With reading the other books I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I did enjoy this book. Just as I have enjoyed this series. And a good steamy sex scene is always good 😋

I will be onto the next book soon.

My favorite thing about these books is that family backs you up! No matter how meddling and troublesome they are they are always there for you.

Loved This One!!

Such great writing. I absolutely loved reading this book. Sheng and Jiao having to hide for 6 years was horrible. Losing their parents was brutal. Kaleb was such a loser and definitely deserved the comeuppance he received. Chris and Jiao were great together. Sheng and Gina were as well. I loved how the Grayson’s all came to their rescue. It gave Sheng and Jiao family that they craved for so long. On to the next story. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

Interesting!

This well written story kind of had me starting and stopping a few times before I truly dug in. The first few chapters had me a bit unsure, but stick with the storyline and wait for it to come together and you will be happy you did! I was! I read and listened to this book and in the end loved it!

Another winner!

This story had everything I look for in a book: humor, action, romance and, of course, some steam. I've passed on some of her stories, because I'm not a fan of mfm, so I was happy to sit back and enjoy the family mayhem and happily ever after with these two couples.

I couldn’t get into the whole marriage theme. It was dragged out throughout and I wasn’t a fan. I did like that this was a bit of a two for one. At first it seemed a little distracting but it all came together at the end.
