The information included is informative, however, it takes a lot to get used to the style of writing. It's almost like a bad transcription of TV episodes. Plus, I really hate the Uncle Matty character. However, I did learn a lot of useful tricks. (But since I decided not to keep the dog, it is all for naught.)

Do not use this book to train your dog. This book was published in 1998 and the training methods within it are outdated and do not reflect what science has recently revealed about dog psychology. The book is also difficult to read because it fails to introduce anecdotes and jumps between instruction and stories.

has some helpful insight on how to train with different personality types, but the overall writing style is really painful to get through. not a good book for overall obedience, really just a reference for how to teach basic commands (sit, stay, down, come)

Interesting book. Some good information but I didn't like the style of teaching on some things.
