America's favorite funnyman takes a comic look at the wacky headlines, photos, and ads that often appear in newspapers. Royalties from this book go to AIDS research.
James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno is an Emmy Award-winning American stand-up comedian and television host who succeeded Johnny Carson as host of "The Tonight Show" on May 25, 1992. He hosted the show until May 29, 2009 when, despite his high ratings, he was replaced by Conan O'Brien. The poor ratings which Conan O'Brien received as host of "The Tonight Show" resulted in NBC bringing Leno back as host on March 1, 2010. He continued to host the show to critical and popular acclaim. In 2013, despite still having the highest late night television ratings, NBC decided to replace Leno with Jimmy Fallon as host. Leno's final show aired on February 6, 2014.
The headlines were always my favorite part of Leno's Tonight Show. There are some funny ones in this book as well as a few that I just didn't find funny. Overall, it is a fun little book that I picked up at the library book sale and I can share it with my teenage son.
"Trees can break wind." "Cow was his co-pilot." "Eating dirt still a hard habit to break." These headlines appeared in papers and is part of the standard routine on the Letterman show each night. Well back in the 1980's Jay Leno was talking about these humerous headlines that he found each day. They never get old. Every one is funny and the pictures make it even more fun. Totally worth it. And a quick easy read.
I read this a while back (I am just adding it here now), but every so often I pick it up to read over again. The headlines are still funny, even if a couple are a bit dated. Overall, very easy and amusing series of books.
