Nothing more could go wrong for maverick hostage negotiator Mulvaney Quinn. First stabbed in the hand during a failed terrorist burst, then arrested for a hate crime he didn't commit. Now Quinn must come face to face with his past in order to stop the worst terrorist threat of all time—a plot to bring about the ultimate religious uprising by destroying one of the most sacred relics in history. But the "Fuse of Armageddon" has already been lit. With the clock ticking down toward a global catastrophe, Quinn must team up with the most unlikely ally of all—the woman who arrested him—to bring down an even more unlikely coalition of enemies. Facing an unholy trinity of a Jewish fanatic, a Muslim terrorist, and a “Christian” freedom fighter, only Quinn can stop them from achieving their goal. But will he be in time? Or is it already too late? Because when Armageddon is unleashed, the fate of the entire world hangs in the balance.

An obvious agenda will jar some readers of this thriller set in the Middle East. Religious zealots have set a plan in motion to hasten the return of Jesus with a plot that involves kidnapping, a secret militia group, and nuclear weapons. Hot on the trail is a professional negotiator, and hot on his trail is an American cop. They form an unlikely alliance to try and stop the zealots from causing WWWIII.[return]The action is pretty good, but there is a lot of preaching and explaining of theology and it's impact on modern day politics in this book as well. If you like learning about that sort of thing while enjoying an exciting plot driven story, than this would be a good pick.

This is the first book that I’ve finished in a LONG time!!! I’ve been in such a slump and haven’t been able to get out of it yet. But this is a start. I’m a huge Sigmund Brouwer fan, and was happy that this was a free download. Although I do not know much of the history of the religious fighting in the Middle East, I still found this book engaging. I did like the character of Quinn, as well as the overall plot.

Fuse of Armageddon
By Sigmund Brouwer
and Hank Hanegraaff

Negotiating the release of hostages is Mulvaney Quinn's life and he'll risk his own life to keep anyone else from having to suffer the loss he suffered 5 years ago. But someone has targeted CCTI and specifically Quinn. The only question is why and who framed him for the brutal murders?

Unfortunately for Quinn the lead detective on the case Kate Penner has tracked him down in the ACCO (Israel) and she's determined to see him charged with the with the hate crime she thinks he committed. And Quinn is returning to the United States in handcuffs.

But when a terrorist takes 30 tourists hostage Quinn is the requested negotiator. What Quinn and Kate don't know is that the have been caught up in an international incident that could bring the world into a religious war unlike anything the world has ever known. But who is pulling the threads that will bring the world to its knees? Determining the answer to this question is the difference between war or peace.

As Quinn struggles to keep his past and the emotions that come with it from effecting him, he sees a picture that no one expected him to see. Someone is attempting to force Armageddon upon the world and they'll stop at nothing to get the results they desire. But there are several factors in play and the those involved have reaches into the highest levels of power. Trust is at a premium and betrayal is around every corner.

Everything hinges on one question who does God love and care for? This book may give you a new perspective on Israel and those who call the region home.

If you know anything about the Left Behind series, you know a vast population of Christians believe that the events of Revelation are coming in the near future. This book, by contrast, puts forth the reasoning behind why some believe many of the events happened hundreds of years ago.

The historial information included in the dialogue sometimes felt forced, but I found it necessary for my own information. Explanations and details that put the current Israeli/Palestinian conflict into perspective helped me better understand some of the deeper issues inherent in the tensions. I’m sure I would not have understood some of the events within the novel without this additional information.

I also appreciated the glimpse into the thinking of those on the Palestinian side, as well as the obvious conflict within the main character as he tried to follow his faith without trampling on those many feel are completely in the wrong. The balance of sympathetic and infuriating characters on both sides of these events was well done.

Overall, this book is action-packed and kept me guessing until near the end on who was really the “bad” guy (besides the obvious terrorist). It also made me think about some things that I don’t often spend much time thinking about, which I love to find in fiction.

If you love learning history from fiction or need a good action-suspense novel, this might be the perfect book for you!

Although I felt like Sigmund Brouwer's style was mildly cramped by the co-authership and message they were writing, this novel still had pieces of all the amazingness that makes Brouwer a genius!

This book is excellent to learn more about modern day Israel, terrorism, the different views on "end times", and about wonderful, suspenseful writing!

I would recommend any book I've read by Sigmund Brouwer to anyone, and this is no exception.

Pick up this book and I promise you you'll be taking away something with you, besides having a wonderful experience. This is certainly a page turner, but still delves deep into characters.

I would have found the ending better with a few alterations, but I won't give anything away. ;-)

This is a fictional account from the Bible Answer Man of what might happen if people try to bring about Armageddon in their own power, thinking they know exactly how Christ is going to return.
It was an amazing! The story was good-blood and bombs and a little romance and lots of learning and forgiveness and more bombs and torture and terrorists and military....
The theology behind it was wonderful too and definitely not something that you normally hear from Christians. It was amazingly balanced between the Palestinian and Israeli sides. It confronted the blind allegiance of the American church for Zionist. There were lots of true historical facts and enlighting discussions without seeming staged.

An engaging, suspensful, international, political thriller. The authors were blatant and forthright about promoting thier view of the Jewish / Palestinian conflict...and I enjoyed the book anyway. It caused me to pause and think, and rethink.

The author's premise is that bad Christian theology regarding the end times is prolonging and contributing to the misery in the middle east. Intelligent and engaging enough that I want to look up the authors' other fiction books.

The cover art, however, is horrible. It looks like a bad 1980s teen romance.

Way to confusing for me. Too many "moles."
Ros: partner with Quinn (hero, master negotiator). Love interest: Kate "US Marshall" from Vegas trying to extradite Quinn for murder.
Mossad: IDF (Israel Defense)
Red September to Blak September to Safady: Palenstian terrorist (who killed Quinn's wife and daughter).
Jonathan Silver: rich TV evangelist trying to give money to Israel to rebuild the Temple so Christ will come.
Tons of manipulation I didn't much care in the end.
Big "save the bombing" therefore prevent WWIII.
Ros and Cohen the ultimate bad guy manipulators.

Concept that kept my interest throughout this book. Essentially about religions - Jewish, Muslims, and Christians and the issues that keep them apart as well as the actions in the Middle East that can thrust them into battling each other. The central character Quinn is the negotiator attempting to prevent this meltdown from happening along with a female police officer with a temporary Marshall's badge who has arrested him and has extradition papers to take him back to the U.S. The Muslim terrorist, the Christian freedom fighters and and the Jewish fanatic throw Quinn a lot of roadblocks.

Not what I thought when I chose to read this book. The subject matter is something I would like to research though. Armageddon is a very common theme in life lately, and I thought the author really had to have done his research to come up with such a great idea. I also liked that this wasn't a zombie book. It was well put together, and also great at explaining for those of us who would have been lost otherwise!

A page turning mystery, action, thriller. You'll keep guessing until the end just which characters are the "good guys". WOW! Also, poses some interesting questions as to differences between extreme Muslims and extreme Christians. Great job of making you face why you believe what you believe.

This book is not in the least preachy and therefore the reader will follow the action seamlessly. You'll not be able to put this one down.

I wanted to read a novel with an eschatology that was not dispensational. The dispy people in this book were wacky and not representative of dispensationals I have known in any time of my life. It made for interesting fiction. OK to read if you are grounded in your theology. The few theological reasonings should not sway you one way or the other.

Good presentation of opposing views Christian and Muslim, and the consequences of Christian dispensationalism beliefs. About 3/4 through I kept falling asleep and wishing it would get over (it was kind of like a classical music piece that almost ends 10 or 15 times). Worth reading for background on middle east tensions.

The story is a bit too convoluted, the characters are a bit too unlikeable, and the whole thing is a little too preachy. But it's still a book that should be read, if for no other reason than to remind us that every bit of theology we believe has real world application, and sometimes, that application can have deadly consequences.

I usually don't like stories from the Middle East but this book was different. For parts I was confused by the number of names and sometimes seemed that attention was diverted from the main plot, but as the reading progressed, I liked the twist in the mystery and it became a thrilling reading. Also changed my perspective on the conflict with Muslims.

A great book, I know it's fiction but it really makes you wonder if maybe some of it will come to pass in the setting up of the battle of Armageddon. A timely read due to all that is going on in the world today.

The story challenges every reader to rethink how violence and terrorism can be stopped through the next generation. Excellent story. Loads of action. A real eye opener to the Middle East and the end of times.

Interesting concept

Tie in with world problems of last sixty years that are growing, not diminishing. The two states solution also would hardly be successful, centuries of bitterness continue to resists. Closer editing towards end was needed.

I liked the story overall and it had fun character's. It did get a little confusion at one point. I would recommend this book. Just don't think you are getting something overly spectacular.

Ignore it.

Recommen to no one. Author can't keep his personal bs from his not so good writing. Gave up about a fourth of the way through. Wasted my time.
