I hear so much conflicting health advice that sorting through it and choosing who to believe is really draining.

This book was straightforward and to the point. Well-organised and well-edited. I read the PDF ebook version, which did not display optimally on my ebook reader - readable, but even at max magnification the text was tiny. I'd recommend reading the ebook on your PC or buying the paper book.

The authors provide many references and many paths for further reading. They speak from both a medical and a personal viewpoint, with their own struggles to keep their bodies as vital as possible after spending the first part of their lives treating them poorly.

The advice is directed towards American readers; international readers like myself will still find it relevant but some of the specific advice, such as advice about moving through the hospital system, may not be relevant to your particular country. Most of the time they avoid being too American-centric and so the book will still offer great advice to others in industrialised nations.

Of particular value is the action plan they provide at the end of the book to help you get started on following their advice.

I enjoyed it and will be following some of their advice - along with the great advice in the CSIRO book "Total Wellbeing".

Interesting and comprehensive guide to feeling younger and living longer through exercise, the right diet, sleeping properly and taking an interest in your health. The credentials of the authors is a little questionable however - with one being an ex-computer geek and the other a heart surgeon. There are a number of citations - which is more than I can say for other healthy living texts I've picked up so I'm reasonably confident in the advice given, but consult other sources. For example they advise the use of saunas when studies have shown there are no tangible benefits of saunas.
