Sunna is geschokt als ze dit bericht op internet leest. Herinneringen aan haar studententijd met Arndís in Barcelona komen boven en maken het haar moeilijk zich te concentreren op de schrijfcursus fictie die ze moet gaan geven. Ze heeft geen tijd om zich bezig te houden met de verdwijning van haar oude vriendin. Tot overmaat van ramp zit haar vriend Axel door een hevige storm vast op een verlaten eiland, waardoor zij zijn tienjarige zoon, die ze amper kent, onder haar hoede moet nemen.

Pas wanneer Sunna tot de ontdekking komt dat ze wordt achtervolgd door drie mysterieuze mannen, neemt haar leven een andere wending.

Auður Jónsdóttir was born on March 30, 1973. She is a writer and freelance journalist and has published articles, essays and interviews in various journals and newspapers.

Her first published work of fiction is the short story "Gifting" (Marriage), published in the literary magazine Andblær in 1997. Other short stories have appeared in magazines and collections since then. Auður's first novel, Stjórnlaus lukka (Uncontrollable Luck, 1998), was nominated for the Icelandic Literary Prize in the same year. Since then, she has published other novels as well as books for children and teenagers, among them a book about her grandfather, Halldór Laxness. Her novel Fólkið í kjallaranum (The People in the Basement), received the Icelandic Literature Prize in 2004 and the novel, Tryggðarpantur (Deposit), was nominated to the same award in 2006. Auður's latest novel is Vetrarsól (Winter-Sun) from 2008. She is now working on a play, as she was chosen Reykjavík City Theatre's Playwrite-in-Residence for 2009.

Leider konnte mich die Geschichte nicht fesseln, obwohl es doch gute Ansätze gab. Sehr gerne mochte ich z.B. die Beziehung zwischen Sunna und ihrem “Stiefsohn“ und auch die Rückblenden. Der Fall an und für sich war mir aber zu wenig im Vordergrund und ich hätte mir mehr Persönlichkeit oder Entwicklung bei Sunna gewünscht.

Ung kona í sambúð grúskar í fortíð sinni þegar að gömul vinkona hverfur.
Ágætlega skrifuð en stundum full mikill orðaflaumur. Ég hefði viljað fá afgerandi endi.

Ég las þessa bók því að ég hef hrifist af nýrri bókum hennar. Mér fannst Auður sannfærandi í lýsingum sínum á þeim aðstæðum og tilfinningum sem Sunna upplifði. Bókin fellur vel inn í þann heim hversdagslifs sem Auður dregur upp í mörgum bóka sinna. Ekki hennar besta en svo sannarlega hluti af heilsteyptu safni.

Die Geschichte hat mir eigentlich ganz gut gefallen. Mich hat jedoch ziemlich gestört, dass der Verlag anscheinend zu knickrig war, vor der Veröffentlichung einen Lektor (oder zumindest einen guten) über den Text gehen zu lassen.

Skemmtilegir karakterar sem auðvelt er að samsama sér við. Yfirþyrmandi angurvær tónn einkennir bókina og hún skilur eftir fleiri spurningar en hún svarar en einnig tilfinngu um að það sé í lagi.
