When reading a series I typically do NOT read books out of order, even if they can be read as stand-alones. I feel compelled to start from the beginning. However, as far as Letters To Luca is concerned it was well worth the detour! The synopsis grabbed my attention right off the bat. It's essentially the ultimate romantic love story and such an enjoyable heart warming read. This was my first time reading a book by M.R. Joseph but definitely not my last. The writing style is catchy & entertaining, with the perfect blend of romance and drama with some comedic relief in the form of our main characters inner monologues. Oh and I can't forget the steaminess! Luca and Leighton have such amazing chemistry together and even though they're fictional characters I'm totally on board with the whole "what's meant to be is meant to be" thing. I especially loved all the poetry references! (I'm a huge fan) Expect to do some swooning, sighing, and possibly even shed some tears b/c with this book you get the full package.

Why did I not read this book before???? Clearly, I’d been missing out!! Sheesh! And if you haven’t read it yet, you too, are missing out! Trust me. Luca Ferro has taken over my heart!!!! I absolutely love him. Seriously, I do. Love, love, love, love, love him.

Now, I must explain. I NEVER read books that are part of series out of order. I don’t care if they are each stand-alone books, I always, always, read them in order. I’m picky like that. However, I am so glad I made the exception with Letters to Luca. And I have Abby from Abby’s Book Blog to thank for that! After watching her book trailer, I knew I HAD to read this book.
At least I can take with me the knowledge that he read them. He read my words. The words that are only meant for him and only him. Time to grow a set and write my letters to Luca.

Once I started reading, I could not stop. I literally took my iPad to the gym and read while working out!! Yes, I was that hooked. From the very first chapter, I connected with the story line and the characters. The things they said and how they said them were so natural, down to earth, and flat out funny! I laughed and giggled a lot throughout the book. Honestly, it was like ‘hearing’ me talk…loved it! And holy HOTNESS!!! Wait until you read those steamy scenes!!! Piece of advice? Don’t read the book while at a public place. It can be quite embarrassing… squirming where others can see and all. Sigh…
But let’s be serious, he doesn’t even know someone as simple as me exists.

Since high school, Leighton loved Luca. Deeply and truly loved him. But he had absolutely no idea who she was. Luca was the popular athlete, while Leighton was…well, not popular. She was more like the shy, geeky girl that always sat at the back in a classroom. But even so, Leighton saw what everyone seemed to miss. She saw beyond Luca’s very hot athletic body, she saw him…she saw who Luca really was. The gentle, sweet, and caring boy that simply loved baseball. Thinking that he would never go for a girl like her, Leighton decided to express her feelings for him through letters. And that’s where it all began.

Leighton wrote Luca for a long time, even after they both graduated high school. Luca became rather attached to the letters. To the point where he basically depended on them to get by during some very heartbreaking times in his life. The letters were something beyond special between them…it was their secret. Until the letters stopped. Leighton had to move on from Luca, didn’t she? After all, it wasn’t exactly fair for her -- loving him from afar for so long and never being able to do anything about it.

Years passed. Fate stepped in.

Now all grown up, Leighton wasn’t in the best emotional place ever. Her recent predicament caused her to move back home temporarily. Back to a place where Luca was now the owner of his father’s restaurant. A quite funny situation brought Leighton face to face with the boy she had once loved. Now a man, she would realize she still loved. But you see, Luca still to that day, had no clue who his ‘letter girl’ was.

Luca never had a serious relationship. No one measured up to his girl from the letters. The girl he had fallen in love with, without even knowing her name. But there was something about Leighton….. Luca gave into an inexplicable connection and attraction he felt towards her. He knew in his gut she was special, he just didn’t know why.

Their relationship was hot, passionate, and just – wow. They truly clicked. But, Leighton had more than one secret. Not only was she the girl from the letters, but she had done something else that just might tear them apart. And as usual, we had that character that everyone loves to hate… Val. *Queue the angst!* Boy did I hate her!!!! UGH! She definitely ruined things…

Once Leighton’s secrets were brought to light, Luca’s pain was heartbreaking. He felt beyond betrayed by the woman he had opened his heart to. The woman he thought he would spend the rest of his life with. Everything he said and did after he found out, I completely understood and agreed with. The way MR Joseph wrote this story line, allowed me to be right there with Luca and Leighton. Safe to say, I was an emotional wreck. I didn't know whose side to take!!! I understood both! Sigh.

I honestly did not want this book to end. I was emotionally invested in these characters and their story, so I wanted the book to go on forever. Towards the end, my soul smiled and happy danced. Luca Ferro will definitely hold a soft spot in my heart for a long time. Beautiful ending!!! Everything wrapped up perfectly.

This was my first book by MR Joseph and I can guarantee that it will not be my last!!! I HIGHLY recommend you buy this book!!!!
You are the one whose heart I hold.

Letters to Luca 5 Stars

The book starts with Leighton and Luca in high school. Leighton was a book worm, Luca a star baseball player. Leighton loved Luca from afar but she never thought he would love a plain Jane like her, so she decided to write him love letters to let him know how she felt about him. Little did she know Luca fell in love with her through her writing. He could never find the right girl because he always reverted back to the letter girl. Will a chance encounter mean they will both find true love?

“When you have a great love, the greatest of ones and something tries to destroy it, if that love is strong enough, it will knock down anything that is in its path. You believe in paths, and fate, and when love is written in the stars, it’s more powerful than anything on this earth, in the heavens, and in your heart. Love tricky, it is messy, it is how you say, fucked up.” – Papa

“I wouldn’t say I’m nerdy. I’d say, I am well, ordinary” – Leighton

Leighton Parks
Leighton is in love with the star baseball player Luca. She is a plain Jane who blends any always trying to be invisible. She grows up and gives herself a makeover, now guys desire her but she goes from one guy to the next mistaking lust for love. She has a promising career not only at a magazine called the Ben but also as an author under a pseudo name. When she gets her heart broken for the last time and goes back home to figure her life out she gets knocked out by Luca. Will this chance meeting help her find the courage to tell Luca how she has always felt? Will she ever find true love and find her happy ending?

“When I took his hand, my body did things that freighted me. My heart raced, my palms perspired, and somewhere else had an unfamiliar feeling. I felt an aching, a longing, and a need for him to touch me more. I felt it from the top of my head, to the tips of my toes. How can my body react to just the slightest of touch?” – Leighton

“You are my light in the dark, Leighton, my reason for waking up every day. The fact that you love me back amazes me. I was lost until I found you.” –Luca

Luca Ferro
Luca always felt girls just dated him for popularity and social status in high school. When the letter girl started writing him letters it changed his whole perspective on girls, since then he has never really felt connected and 10 years after high school he still thinks of the letter girl. When Luca knocks Leighton out with his front door at Lucky’s Restaurant and fells a connection with her will he figure out who she is? Will this chance meeting give him his happy ending?

“There will be no cuddling tonight. No sweet talk. This is going to get dirty, and nasty, and I’m going to do things to you that would make porn stars blush” - Luca

“Have mercy on my soul dear Lord for I am lustful and needy, and it’s all because of this boy.” – Leighton

“For the love of God and all that is holy this man can fuck like no one’s business.” – Leighton

“I want to put myself out of my misery and kiss her already. I mean really kiss her. Kiss her hard, kiss her good. Kiss her tender, then back to earnestly. Make her forget her name and to remember the only name she needs to, and it’s mine.” – Luca

I love, love, love this book!! It made me laugh, made me cry, made me swoon, and made me all hot and bothered! This book had me trying to read as fast as I could so I could see what happened next. It’s a great love story; there is drama, hot sex scenes, and heartbreak. It is the third book in a series but each book is stand alone. Had I not been told it was a series I would have never known. I would recommend this to anyone who is a hopeless romantic and believes in true love!

“She sobs as she tries to speak, “you can’t hurt me anymore, Luca. Your words have cut me to the core. I have nothing more to bleed I’m empty.” – Leighton

“Hurt me, you didn’t want to hurt me? Those letters were the only thing that got me through my hurt. Years of pain I had built up over my mother dying, me blowing out my elbow twice, me searching for you, wanting you, needing you. You crushed me; do you even fucking understand that? You crushed my fucking heart.” - Luca

Hope you guys enjoy as much as I did

When you find the "one who holds your heart" Are you willing to fight for them?

"At least I can take with me the knowledge that he read them. He read my words. The words that are meant for him and only him. Time to grow a set and write my letters to Luca."

Leighton Parks was a sweet, innocent, shy girl in high school. After a brief encounter one day with Luca Ferro, Leighton begins to notice him more and more. Too shy to tell him how she feels, Leighton begins writing him anonymous letters to express her growing feelings for him. " My dearest Luca, I know you want to find me; I can see it in your eyes every day I see it.But alas, I cannot reveal my identity for fear that I would not be what you wanted. I know in the letter you wrote back to me, you said you lost sleep over finding me. I cannot have that, my love your well being means more to me than anything. Let's just have this. I like it this way. I get to tell you all the things I love about you, and you accept me for who I am without even knowing me. I know that you are a good person. You are strong, smart, handsome, and you love your family. Maybe someday our paths will cross, you will look into my eyes and you will know it's me. I wouldn't have to say anything, we would just know. That time is not now for us my Luca but remember this, "In true love the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged." We will find our path some day, Luca have faith. Forever yours, The one whose heart you hold"

Luca Ferro is not your typical Jock. Drafted in high school to play baseball, he decides instead to go to college and play for the University of Miami. After blowing out his elbow, not once but twice Luca turned to the letters from his "letter girl" to get him through the rough times.

The book starts out with Leighton in bed with her steady man Michael and Luca running his Father's restaurant and coaching his old high school baseball team. Leighton, the secret author of 3 contemporary romance novels get’s her invitation to her high school reunion and it's being held at none other than Luca Ferro's place! I can't get into too much detail without spoiling it for you but I can tell you that fate steps in and takes hold of the reigns.

After pining for his "letter girl" for years Luca is about to get the surprise of a lifetime. Will the betrayal of his "letter girl" be too much for him?

I love each and every one of the characters in this book... from the sleazy and slimy Michael and Val, to Luca's sweet lil Old Italian father. The depth of emotion in this book is something I've personally never experienced while reading a book before. I went from hopeful to angry, heartbroken, and sad, and finally to happy. I really did laugh out loud, cry and at points even yell at the book while reading it.

Luca is the type of man we want our sons to be like and our daughters to marry. And Leighton, well, we find out that even as a woman Leighton may still have a bit of growing up to do emotionally.

Letters to Luca has it all, secrets, lies, laughs, but most of all it has Love. Not story book romance kind of love, but real, raw love. The love of everyday real life that can consume you at times. The kind of love that you feel so strongly about that you do not know where it ends and you begin.

This book showed me the importance of communication in a relationship; it reminded me that relationships take hard work, compromise and most of all understanding and forgiveness.

M.R. Joseph weaves a story of soul mates fighting and sometimes failing to love one another in the way the other one needs.

She makes you question, is love, even true love, always enough?

This is the 3rd and final book in the Reunion series (each stand-alone), and believe it or not ‘Reunion’ the first in the series was only ever supposed to be seen by family and friends. This was then followed by ‘You Belong With Me’ which I have been waxing lyrical about on my Facebook page and Blog to the point where M.R. Joseph may take out a restraining order on me.

Anyhow, I was beyond excited to review this latest book from the lovely Ms Joseph and well, I sat and read ‘Letters to Luca’ in one Sunday sitting. Dogs neglected, Husband going hungry, ironing ignored.

“Have mercy on my soul dear Lord for I am lustful and needy, and it’s all because of this boy”. – Leighton

Yep that just about sums up how I was feeling 50% in and Ms Joseph can certainly turn up the steam a notch when she wants to.

Each of the Reunion series have been a love story, stories of a lifetime of loving someone that is interrupted by life itself and the timeframes of the books always, to me, make them more believable, as the relationships grow and develop.

Leighton had loved Luca, idolised him from afar, the plain girl unable to tell the high school heart throb of her feelings for him in person and so she wrote him letters. Letters written so beautifully and from the heart that they captured Luca’s heart & soul without her even knowing it.

“The only thing that got me through those dark times were the letters. The letters from the woman that could possibly be love of my live, and I have no idea who she is”. Luca

10 years on Luca is settled in his family’s business and Leighton is no longer the plain Jane she once was, but she is in a whole world of hurt and goes back home to lick her wounds.
And bingo they kind of bump in to each other, she still madly in love with him, he mesmerised by this beauty he can’t remember from school.

The POV’s from each of them were fun and I always like a good male POV. Leighton’s internal musings are totally relatable for us girls.

“He has a runner’s body, built to last, built for fucking sin, and I’ve had that….twice. Yep. Me. Yay, me!” Leighton

Inevitably there are those characters we would like to hunt down and hurt badly, however once the truth about the letters comes out, Luca’s reaction was not what I expected at all and took me totally by surprise.

No spoilers here so I won’t go in to detail but let’s just say waterproof mascara and tissues are essential.

So if I haven’t made myself clear, I totally, utterly, completely adored this book and I cannot recommend it enough, M.R. Joseph has once again produced a dream of a love story and I will continue to stalk her from afar.

Letters to Luca
Wow I'm not sure what to say about this book but it was amazing!
The H/h were so cute together and even tho they had a lot of ups and downs they worked them out and had a HEA. This book is part of the reunion series But I read as a standalone and it worked out great! I'm asking my self why I never read this sooner and I don't hae an anwser except I wish I had
Luca was the star baseball player at his high school and everyone thought he had it all, but deep down there was one thing that kept him together ad that was his letter girl. In this stor he was funny and sexy and sweet ad so much more!
Leighton Was the shy nerd girl that loved Luca from afar an over the years she wrote him letters. They kept him grounded. She wanted to tell her feeling but wa too scared so she told him in these letters. As she got older the wa no longer the nerd girl and made something of her self. She was funny and real and didn't take crap.
One would think that this is an open and shit book. But it's not they did fall in love but they had a lot standing In the way to there HEA!
This book was amazing and very much worth the read!!!
4 simply amazing stars!

absolutely love this book. it was so much more than the typical nerdy girl falling for the popular jock. Leighton has been in love from afar with the star baseball player. her lack of confidence prevents him from ever knowing her feelings, so she writes him letters instead for the next several years. I love the references to great authors such a Shelley and Browning. I highly recommend this love story. it was definitely filled with both happy and sad tears.

Absolutely fell in love with this series and this author. These books were a roller coaster of drama and angst. Steamy too! But with a HEA that made the ride worth it. Can't wait to see what she writes next and hopefully there will be more in the Reunion Series. Note: Each book in the Reunion Series is a stand alone book.

So many people seem to like it, but I could not even finish this book. Honestly, I am completely baffled by all the high ratings. I pushed through 50% before I just couldn't do it any longer. The conversations were so awkward and cheesy and the writing seemed almost juvenile. This was my first book by this author and it will be my last.

"The only thing that got me through those dark times were the letters. The letters from the woman that could possibly be the love of my life, and I have no idea who she is. The letters that turned me into a man who looked at things from a new perspective...
...They consumed me. Made me fall in love with her...My Letter Girl."

Have you ever had THAT crush? You know, that crush on the one guy you know you could never have?! He was the popular guy that everyone loved and girls swooned over. I know I have had that same experience.
Leighton Parks is a lot like all of us girls that had that crush. Her heart belonged to Luca Ferro. He was the star baseball player and all around good guy. Not to mention gorgeous and Italian;) Leighton wasn't exactly in the "in" crowd. She more or less blended into the walls. After being humiliated in the hallway at school one day, Luca came to her rescue. She saw the real person he was that day and knew she needed to tell him...but how?

"But let's be serious, he doesn't even know someone like me exists."

"The way I feel right now, I don't think there could be another who could lead my heart away from Luca."

That's when she started the letters. She wrote Luca letters and told him of her feelings and dreams of him. Gave him encouragement and understanding when she knew he needed it. And poetry!! OH, THE POETRY!!! (I'm a lover of the written word)
Luca lived for these letters. He was anxious to see that white envelope in his locker and then in his mail as he went to college. Then, in his senior year of college, the letters stopped.
Leighton decided that she needed to grow up and move on from Luca. She got a whole new makeover and changed her lifestyle. She was broken out of her shell and she never looked back.

Until fate, yet again, stepped in.

After an awful breakup with a scuzzball, and I mean scuzzball, Leighton decides that she needs to take some time off. She heads back home since her high school reunion is coming up and she figures that she can visit her family and friends and forget about things. She needed somewhere to live and who just happened to have a place for rent? You guessed it...Luca.

"She has this pull and I can't understand it. It's confusing the shit out of me, and I can't shake the familiarity of it all at the same time."

Living right next to each other is proving to be more difficult than they realized. The attraction is so strong that they can't deny it any longer. Holy Hotness!!!! Let's just say you'll need to fan yourself! wowza!! They become addicted to each other, but Leighton knew she had to tell Luca that she was the one who wrote him the letters.

The worst part of the whole situation is that the letters aren't the only secret that Leighton is keeping from Luca. This secret could destroy everything that they have together. When she's ready to finally tell him, it blows up in her face. The person that is the cause of it is Val Kelly. OMG!!! I hate that girl. She's that former popular girl that still thinks she has every guy wrapped around her nasty little finger. Because she is jealous of Leighton and Luca's new relationship, she decides to break them in the worst way. (seriously, I hate Val!!)

"When you have a great love, the greatest of ones and something tries to destroy it, if that love is strong enough, it will knock down anything that is in it's path."

So, I ask again... Have you ever had THAT crush? And what would you do if all those dreams of being with that person came true? What would you do if your life was turned upside down? Would you fight for it?

"I am your letter girl since the first stroke of my pen."
"Good...It's always nice to have a face to go along with a name."

**Highly recommend this book. It takes you back to high school and those feelings you get with seeing your crush. You root for these characters and you relate to them. I remember writing my crush a letter and slipping it into his backpack when he wasn't looking. I never signed it and I still wonder what he thought about my feelings and if he even wondered who I was. This book gives you a look into that situation. Who knows? Maybe those letters you wrote made a difference to that person.

Thanks again, MR Joseph!!!! The Reunion Series was amazing!!!

Young girl loves young boy from afar. Young boy has no clue that she ever existed. Yes we have heard it all before.... BUT!!!!

This is a true love story, one that will grab at your heart strings and wont let go!!

Leighton Parks has fallen in love with the popular baseball star athlete that everyone to be or be with. Problem?? He didn't know she existed. She was the shy bookworm type and just knew deep down that a guy like Luca would never fall for a girl like her. That is why she wrote the letters...

Leighton started writing love letters to Luca to let him know how she felt about him. She also never told him who she was in fear of being rejected. So while she loved him from afar and wrote her sole to him, Luca too, fell in love with his "Letter Girl".

To Luca, the letters helped him through some of his hardest times and he looked forward to the letters but wished so much to have the girl behind the letters more.

Years later the two meet up and things Heat up!! Does Luca get his "Letter Girl"? Does Leighton finally tell him how she has always felt and she was the one to write him? Do they get their happily ever after?

This was really an amazing love story, I truly enjoyed!! To watch the characters grow was so nice to see. You couldn't help but fall in love with them both and wish them to finally come together. This was such a breath of fresh air!!

The writing style was so good!! You connect with the characters so easy. The other great thing was the secondary characters you love just as much.

This is a book that I have no doubt I will read again and again! I highly recommend this story and give it a 5 star rate! Thank You so much for such a great Love story!!

What can I say, just reminds you the way things were in high school, how can a Steamy Baseball player from School fall in love with a Nerdy girl, who lives behind the scenes. 10 yrs go by, and things have changed for the 2, Luca could not continue his career so he's tending to his Dads Restaurant, Leighton, goes to college and changes her style, complete makeover, who then has all men swooning for her. Things go terrible wrong with someone at work, the no fraternization policy, and so she's forced to live back in home town. Where accidentally, a door falls on her from Luca's place. And this is where it all begings!!!
This is a relationship that you don't know where it will end, if they get together, if they never get back together, but its so well written, you will not be dissappointed, you will not want to put the book down!! And the hot sex scenes between them both, leaves you lets say.... I need a cold shower.
Its so cute that you get to know some quotes from your favorite poets, and that is what has them wanting to know more of one another due to all the letters that Luca's received from his "letter girl" who of course he doesn't know yet that it is Leighton, the girl that lines in the stars with him.
You may wonder what happens at the end..... I cannot say, lets say, you'll love it!! I hope to read more from this author.
Very well written!

Wow. Letters to Luca was hands down the best of the Reunion Series by MR Joseph! I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Leighton was awesome and Luca was delicious. Together they were perfect.

"I think I just died and went to hot-guy-in-my-bed heaven!" - M.R. Joesph

"We are like a s'more. I'm the marshmallow, he's the sweet chocolate and we melt together and it's hot". - M.R. Joseph

Leighton Parks was the shy, quiet girl in high school with a major crush on the popular, star baseball player, Luca Ferro. Out of fear of rejection, Leighton decided to express her feelings to Luca through letters. The letters were everything to Luca and no girl could compare to his "letter girl" until he met a Leighton right before their ten year reunion. Now a best-selling author with a hidden identity, Leighton is no longer that girl. Unfortunately, once her secret comes out, everything changes.

Full of love, angst, heartache and forgiveness, this book had it all. I completely devoured it from the very beginning and I have to say that MR Joseph has written a series that everyone can relate to and enjoy.

I give mad props to M.R. Joseph. She is absolutely one of my favorite authors. She delivers again in this heartwarming story of long time love found at last. And if you've followed her, she even adds some personal touches to the story, that I thought were wonderful. For me, I love to read a line in a story and smile, thinking to myself I know what that's about!

The only thing that threw me off was the dual P.O.V. While it was great to hear the story through both leads perspective, sometimes I felt that what they were thinking could have been filtered. However, this was also a bit of a benefit for me. It led me to feel them more as individuals rather than fictional characters.

Aside from my own personal issues with the P.O.V., it was a beautiful story and I highly recommend it. Even if you're unsure of the duality of the story, the only thing I can say is to give it a shot. If you're anything like me, you'll love it.

Where can I get my own Luca? He is swoon-worthy and everything you want in a man. Gorgeous, sweet, and HOT!
The story of Luca and Leighton will have you tied up with a variety of emotions. The characters are lovable, relatable and flawed just like the rest of us! It is always refreshing to read about characters that aren't billionaires and could be living right next door to you.
M.R. Joseph does another amazing job of keeping you guessing as to whether these characters will get their happily ever after or will life lead them down different paths forever. Hold onto your E-readers because there were a few moments where you just want to scream and throw your book out the window. Of course that won't happen because these twists are the reasons you will keep you reading this book from cover to cover ignoring the world around you. Well done!!

The underlying story itself was ok (albeit definitely in line with the other two books in terms of the plot formula the author clearly enjoys) but the dialogue felt VERY forced and unnatural at many points and the typos got distracting after awhile. I remember feeling exactly the same way about the other books in the Reunion series but decided to give this third book, Letters to Luca, a try in hopes that maybe some of her "I love reading and romance so that means I should write books" kinks had been worked out. This does not seem to be the case. :( But, if you can look past all that and are looking for a formulated HEA by an indie author, than give Letters to Luca a go.

I have the whole Reunion series now and while the stories are cute, with relatable characters, I *really* want the author to get hooked up with a copy editor! There are so many typographical and grammatical errors that they can be unintentionally hilarious, definitely frustrating, or actually interfere with the intended meaning. With so many good books out there, it makes me want to skip her next offering, unfortunately. That said, I enjoyed Leighton and Luca's story, and especially Papa. He was adorable!

A fabulous first book! The story of Savannah and Sam was one that had twists, tears, and turmoil. You couldn't help but get personally connect to them. So many storylines that brought me back to my youngers years and the girlfriends we trasure so much. Looking forward to the next book by M.R. Joseph.

Hot steamy sex! And there's also a love story to go with it. We can all relate to liking the person we think is out of our league so it made this book totally relatable and believable. Letters to Luca is my favorite out of the Reunion series. A truly well written and enjoyable book!

3.5 stars. Nice story. A bit too cheesy. The grammar was dreadful (bordering on hilarious). An easy read.
