Pride of Zohayd #2

Pride of Zohayd Trilogy

To Tempt A Sheikh
Harres & Talia’s Story
Sheikh Harrres Aal Shalaan & Talia Burke

This is the second book in the Pride of Zohayd Trilogy. This book takes us back in time to the time of The Arabian Nights. This story excites you and makes you want to travel back in time. Harres & Talia’s love story is not an ordinary one and the path to true love is not an easy one and the bumps along the way keeps you wondering the outcome.

Harres and Talia meet under the strangest of circumstances. In a love story the handsome prince rescues the damsel and they live happily ever after. NOT. Harres is the middle son and not only a prince but Head of Intelligence & Homeland Security. He is like the hero you read about. The rebels have kidnapped TJ Burke and it is up to Harres and his men to save the elusive Mr. TJ Burke. To free the hostage Burke it will be tricky but it must be done. After storming the cabin Burke struggles and it takes all Harres strength get out with the kicking and clawing hostage. After they were to safety imagine Harres surprise to find out Mr. Burke is really the beautiful Talia Burke

Talia hated the fact that her savior was one of the hated Aal Shalaan family. Her cause was to ruin them as they were responsible for her brother’s disappearance. As they were escaping to Harres helicopter the bandits fire got closer. Harres swooped TJ in his arms and ran with her to safety. After they were safely on board TJ saw that Harres was injured. As an ER doctor TJ nurses him back to health.

The road to love sometimes never goes smooth. Harres and Talia can attest to that. Harres isn’t used to a woman that doesn’t jump to be with him. He finds the only way to control Talia is by kissing her. Once that happens their lives are never the same. At every crossroad it seems they are hanging on by a thread. The one emotion that they will never deny is love. Harres realizes Talia is his rock and she rocks his world. Events happen that threatens not only their love but their lives. Talia overhears Harres speaking on the phone and decides that she will leave.

Talia returns home and tries to forget the one and only man she will ever love. Harres won’t give her up and no distance is too far for his one true love. They say one look is worth a thousand words. These two lovers take that one look to a new dimension. Harres feels like the conquering hero and yes the hero always gets the girl. The bumpy road suddenly becomes very smooth.

This is a story of romance that one only dreams about. This is the romance on the magic carpet ride.

The love between Harres & Talia is destined for greatness. The only problem is all the curves is and bumps in the road. They say that when the desert calls you, you can never return to the normal world. This Desert Prince throws all the rules out to find his destiny in his Desert Princess.

No author captures love at every stage as does Olivia Gates. This story makes you believe in love everlasting.
This story is a five star read. A MUST read.

Prince Harres Aal Shalaan, second son of the king, is assigned to rescue a hostage by the name of T.J. Burke. He has been hunting for the man for a long time, but it is almost as if T.J. is a figment of his imagination. Hot on a trail, he goes to a hotel room and spots a small, young man with an intense gaze. He knows something isn’t right with T.J., but now is not the time to question him. Harres has to rescue T.J. because his rivals are on their backs.

Once they are in close proximity, Harres realizes that T.J. is really a woman. Talia Jasmine Burke is the one that he has been chasing. Though there is distrust between them, Harres vows not to let anything happen to her. The attraction between them is swift and powerful. T.J. refuses to tell him anything, but Harres has some pretty persuasion methods of getting the truth out of her.

Harres is injured, and he needs some the information that T.J. holds, so he takes them away to an Oasis. Harres is a smooth seducer, but T.J. can’t give in. They both play for different teams and the information that T.J. knows can hurt Harres.

Olivia Gates writes intense and well-constructed scenes. I love her ability to use and play with words. Some might call her writing flowery or overly dramatic, and at times it is, but that’s what makes her books so funny and entertaining. Her scenes are also descriptive and exotic.

Harres and T.J. immediately form a connection that leads to some quirky and humorous banter. I love how he calls her out on her identity as soon as he recognizes her. The one thing that I really like about Olivia Gates’s books is that her heroines are equally strong as the heroes. T.J. doesn’t let Harres roll all over. Though their partnership in unlikely, it leads for some passionate play.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. If you’re a fan of exotic scenery and in need of a quick and easy read, then I recommend To Tempt a Sheikh.

First-able I must say characters dialogues make me smile every time. I think I kind of falling love with the hero <3 And every time I do that - falling love with the hero - I complain about the reality of this. Why this guys not found in earth? Or why I didn't find them? Why.. Anyway it's a enjoyable reading progress Miss or Mrs. Gates doing very good job with this book. If you love sheikh stories I think you'll love this too!

The second book in the Pride of Zohayd series is packed with emotion, passion and conspiracies. Olivia Gates once again takes her readers on an adventurous journey where romance is unexpected and dreams seem impossible. TO TEMPT A SHEIKH is fantasy worthy in countless ways.

As the head of security for Zohayd, there have been numerous missions where risks must be faced by Prince Harres Aal Shalaan. When an enemy of his ruling family takes a hostage in hopes of helping their goal in overthrowing his clan, Harres jumps into action and manages to rescue the kidnapped person. After discovering the woman is not whom he thought was being held for information, he is surprised but still vows to see Talia Burke brought back to safety.

When his mission does not go as planned, Harres comes up with an alternative one which takes them on a perilous trek to an oasis where their time together lets them become intimately acquainted plus come to understand their motivations. When she came to this country, Talia believed those in the Aal Shalaan family were criminals and her enemy. However, she begins to wonder about her facts the longer she is around Harres.

Olivia Gates makes fantasies come true in her innovative novels. The premise behind her Pride of Zohayd series is certainly original, as mysterious plots add suspense to each book. As more is discovered about the hostile plans of a rival tribe against the Aal Shalaan family, the tension of what will take place next continuously heightens. In this story, a kidnapping leads to a dangerous situation where two strangers must learn to trust the other or perhaps die, and this turns into a very visual and steamy adventure. Forced to be with a man like Harres for an extended period in the isolated desert would definitely be high on my fantasy list! Ms. Gates is known for depicting her stories with colorful details and accurate information, and this one lets the reader experience all scenes to the fullest in every way possible. Whether the moment pertains to something which could be seen or heard or sensed in another manner, I was completely immersed in whatever was occurring. Harres and Talia are both determined individuals, and their conversations are overflowing with sharp banter plus intelligence. There are quite a few times where I smiled over a particularly quick-witted comeback from Talia, and how Harres responded to her made him an even more desirable hero. The circumstances relating to the immediate attraction between these two may be rather amusing at first, but before long it turns into sensuously passionate encounters. There is one more book in the series, and I am extremely eager to see how the oldest brother fares in his own story. TO TEMPT A SHEIKH is compellingly imaginative plus heartfelt with genuine emotions at all times.

A true desert romance with a hero to die for and a fiesty heroine. What more could you want in a romance novel. Harres, our hero, is honourable, brave and totally gorgeous - he has now become my favourite Olivia Gates's hero - I was lost as soon as he was described as having long dark hair! I adore men with long hair. T.J or Talia, our heroine, is a doctor who believes that Harres and his family are to blame for her brother being in prison and so hates him the minute she finds out his identity. The attraction between them is immediate but T.J fights it with all her will as she and Harres trek across the open desert escaping from 'the enemy'. There are no opulent palaces in this story - or at least not until the very end - just a true desert setting with an oasis which is like a place out of time. Exciting, sensual ad romantic I would unreservedly recommend this novel for lovers of sheikh stories and beautifully written romance alike.

Are you looking for a book that has you falling in love with the hero from almost the first page? Harres and Talia's story is one of those books that you'll miss appointments, stay up all night, and not fix dinner to finish it. You won't want to put it down until you finish and even then you want it to continue.

Harres rescues Talia from dangerous people in order to gain information from her. She was disguised as a man, but Harres still felt an attraction like no other for her. Talis hates him and his family for what she's believes, which is that they set her brother up to go to jail. Their escape ends with them crashed in the desert miles from the nearest oasis. Most of the book focuses on the development of their spicy relationship thru their adventure trying to reach safety.

This book is a MUST READ.... You'll also fall in love with Olivia Gates as an author.... I always look for her books when they come out.

This was an excellent read. Olivia Gates packed this book full of danger, intrigue and passion. I just wish there was a real Prince Harres Aal Shalaan and he’d come rescue me!

I read every word of this book in one afternoon not so long ago and fell in love with the story. The passion the hero and heroine displayed as I soaked the story in was realistic and came across the pages in a smooth flow throughout the plot.

Spoiler Alert!

My favorite part in the book was when Talia woke up after fearing she would die in the desert to discover that Harres ran several miles in the heat with no water to get the help she needed. He risked his own life to save hers. Where she woke up was beautiful tropical oasis.

Again, I wish he would come rescue me and whisk me away!

To Tempt a Sheikh by Olivia Gates
T. J. Burke has been kidnapped and Harres Aal Shalaan planned on freeing him. T. J had information that could potentially harm the Aal Shalaan family. But when Harres rescued T. J he discovered T. J was actually Talia Jasmine pretending to be her brother. Plus she hated all the Aal Shalaan family because she believes they wrongly imprisoned her brother. Now Harres has to convince her they can have a future together.

The author was so descriptive that I had a clear picture of the characters and the location. She also poured out the depth of emotions these two felt for one another. I also like the fact that she incorporated her knowledge in the medical field by making Talia a doctor. It’s no wonder that Olivia Gates is one of my favourite authors.

Liked the second book in this series. You find out more about the ruling family and how far the sons will go to protect the nation. Harres and Talia are perfect for each other as they are both strong people who know what they want and go for it.

"Everything before you passed and went to waste." - My favourite heart fluttering quote.

I'm a sucker for a good Sheikh book. No idea why, the appeal of the sexy, powerful and royal men of the desert just do things for me and I find myself craving them on a regular basis. And I have grown to appreciate the way Olivia Gates portrays these yummy men.

Parts of this book had me deeply enthralled, loving every line, every sweet soft word. It really hit the spot.

Prince Harres Aal Shalaan was flat out gorgeous. He was royalty but yet he treated Talia like a Queen, someone he cherished and loved with a devotion that made me swoon a little.

Although this was a relatively quick read, it was short, sharp and sweet as Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It was just what I needed.

This was SO different and it had everything I read books for. It had action and danger and wit and chemistry and incredible descriptions of the desert and the oasis. You feel you're right there in one of those adventure movies just living it all with the hero and heroine. And did I mention chemistry? Harres and Talia's passion and connection blazed off the pages, from the moment he saw her and thought she was... No! I have to let you read "that" for yourself. It's priceless. :-D
To Tempt a Sheikh is a fantastic read in every way!

Five Stars plus!

What can I say about this book? That it surprised and delighted me wouldn't be enough. I always expect a top notch read when I open an Olivia Gates book, but surely didn't expect any of what I got this time. The opening scenes with the rescue and the escape in the desert, then the crash were exhilarating. The trek across the desert to the oasis were the best character dissection and relationship development and the best descriptions and impressions of a desert I ever read. I really felt I could see and touch the magnificent Harres and the desert he'd been forged from. Amazing storytelling to the last unexpected twist. LOVED it!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had the first in the trilogy (To Tame a Sheikh)I found it a little slow and found myself skipping through the pages to get to an interesting part. It did start to pick up in the latter part of the story which is the only thing that kept me reading.

It did have Ms Gates' style of writing all over it but it in my opinion it wasn't one of her better works.

To Tempt a Sheikh is the first *real* desert romance I've read, in that it's actually in the desert, in its scary magnificence. it's also got so much beside an explosive love story. it's got action and adventure and danger and so much fun in the verbal battles of the hero and heroines. The heroine Talia thinks the hero's family is responsible for her twin's imprisonment and the hero Harres remains the real desert knight that he is throughout, powerful, honorable and in bed...just wow. You gotta read this to find out all the wonderful twists in this book, from the first one...till the last.

To Tempt a Sheikh starts with a breathless rescue operation in the desert, an escape, a helicopter crash, and from then on, the emotion doesn't let up. The trek across the desert as Harres takes Talia on foot to the nearest oasis for their salvation and when they finally make it there after almost dying, is the best and literally real 'desert romance' I've read. The twists in the end would have made the story for me, if I didn't love it all through, which I did.

Hoşuma giden romantik bir kitaptı. Özellikle Şeyhimize(Prens Harres Aal Shalaan) bayıldım. Saçma gelen yanlarıda oldu itiraf etmeliyim. Nasıl bu kadar çabuk aşık olabildiler. At sahneleri komikti. Etkileyici diyemem.

I love this book I can't believe I skipped it at first. I love Prince Harres. He met his match with Talia (T.J.). I the beginning when he went to rescue the hostage I laughed so hard at Prince Harres at that little twist in there it had me crying. I love how the author wrote that scene. Talia was great I love that she could hold her own. I really like strong heroines. I think that's what attracted Harres to her. The absolute best was there trek across the desert. The way it was written I felt like I was on that journey with them. Talia had to learn to trust him and he had to learn to trust her and it made for a sizzling start to a very hot romance in the oasis. Great job with this book and series. Must Read.

"To Tempt a Sheikh" is the story of Talia and Harees.
When middle prince Harees goes on a mission to find the perpetrator for the jewel theft, he never expects to find an "old man" and be attracted to him!
Soon the disguise is revealed, and turns out Talia is out to avenge the imprisonment of her brother by Aal Shalaan family- while he's totally bowled over by her.
A trek in the desert, some survival skills, a truth confessed leads to the couple giving in to their attraction and falling in love with mild angst.
Tbh I love this author and her devoted heroes with the OTT hot sex scenes. Pretty amazing.
The only issue is the misuse of so many words, i.e. Every time I thought of men in abayas I started laughing (men wear disdashas).
Overall a good read

To Tempt a Sheikh was a one-of-a-kind desert romance! Prince and black ops sheikh Harres (Guardian in Arabic) was a one-of-a-kind hero who also got an equal heroine in trauma surgeon Talia Burke! I loved the book from the first moment their eyes met in that dingy cabin in the middle of the desert where he'd gone to rescue the stranger he thought had the key to his kingdom's salvation, right through their breath bating escape, through their trek through the desert to the oasis, to their magical time there and through the rest of the twists and turns till the wonderful end. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

This books starts out like no other Desire you've ever read. It's adventurous, humorous, and hot! After a very action-packed start, the two get to spend a long, luxurious time alone. This was so fabulous! Almost a whole book or hero and heroine alone time! You'll fall in love with Harres and his strength and passion. You'll admire the spunk and intelligence of Talia. And you'll melt with their passion.

When Dr Olivia Gates tells you to take two Sheikh's and get back to her in the morning, you know you have a prescription that will get you feeling better. Harres Aal Shalaan is Sheikh number one on that prescription because I'd already read about his brother, the first in the Pride of Zohayd series. Well, I have to say Harres is the best medicine for someone craving a male who is pretty much everything you could ever want in a man. Gorgeous, sexy, brave, intelligent, sexy, strong as an ox. Did I mention sexy? And to top it all off he is tender, faithful, patient, loving (stop me if this isn't appealing to you at all).

Talia, Doctor T.J. Burke, manages to get Harres all hot and bothered even when he thinks he's rescuing a man. Hey, that could get embarrassing ;-]. Instinct tells him that T.J is hiding a lot more than just the secrets that could bring down his family dynasty. Tough and practical, Talia is more than a match for the (see description above) Sheikh. Did I mention his long hair and the sexy bit? She's also hates the Aal Shalaan family for what they did to her brother.

A nice set up for conflict but in the end there isn't a great deal between the protagonists. This is something I'm rather liking about Olivia Gate's books. Most of the angst comes from outside influences, trying to pull the lovers apart, allowing you to wallow in the development of the relationship between the Hero and Heroine. Oh we do have the black moment, but not to the extent that they tear each other apart causing painful scars.

Did I mention that Harres is one Hot Sexy hero? I just thought I should mention that. This is not a book for reading on the train on the way to work where other people will see your flushed face and heavy breathing. Love scenes are seriously steamy with a heroine matching the Hero for passionate intensity. (Turns on air-con).

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the verbal and physical interactions between Harres and Talia made for a witty and sensual read. I'm looking forward to the second half of the prescription when I read about the eldest brother. He's been sneering at all this love stuff his brothers have fallen for. I suspect he's going to fall hardest of all.

Wow. And I mean WOW. Now THIS is a TRUE desert romance! And it's another testament to Olivia Gates's mastery of all genres that she incorporated action adventure with humor, passion and intrigue. And the result is a heady mix of the best of all genres. This book sent me searching for her thrillers from the Bombshell line, and let me tell you, I was amazed all over again by how she explosively, flawlessly executed full-on, all-out action/adventure/thrillers with a unique and incendiary romance at its core in her trilogy Strong Medicine, Radical Cure and Shock Therapy! But that's for other reviews of those incredible books.
Now back to Harres and Talia and To Tempt a Sheikh! My only dislike are for the titles of this wonderfully innovative and emotional trilogy, as To Tame and To Tempt and To Touch my rhyme and might be catchy, but they're a bit...tacky, and those books are ALL class. Anyway, minor quibble, which the author has no control over. And this second installment in the Pride of Zohayd trilogy is totally different from the first book, yet only equal in the level of writing, and the power of the love story that unfolds within its rich, descriptive pages. I couldn't WAIT for the last book in the trilogy and Amjad's book, which I read the moment I read the end on this one. And ooooh, what a book it was! It's a good thing I discovered Olivia Gates after she's written more than two dozens books, or I would have gone into severe withdrawal. I'm only dreading the time when I've read and re-read all her works, and now have to wait in line with the rest of her fans waiting months for her next offering. Oh, the horror! :-)

"Pant-worthy"

Now, that's a word you don't come by everyday!

This was a fascinating read. I like how the author weaves the story around a central plot in the mini-series but gives each book it's own individual flavor. Olivia Gates has a way with words that seems to provide readers a deeper dive into the story, making it almost a personal experience. There is also the way she uses Arabic (though in an english language kind of way) and the concept of Ishq, I think it adds to the "Middle-eastern authenticity" of her stories.

As for the characters, there's no question when it comes to their relationship. There is no real inner turmoil, denial of feelings, or the heaviness of angst and ego. They were made almost perfectly too, especially Harres! He's simply...hot stuff. Haha. The conflict is mainly the central plot of the mini-series combined with a few misunderstandings. But the end result is always wonderful.

Definitely a recommended read and a read-again-and-again. :)
