Positive Depression

Rate this book
This book, that I wished simple in style and accessible to all, is meant for the depressed patient so he may orient himself in time, may better understand where he comes from, where he is and in which directions he is very likely to go, a book to help him grasp the path he has followed as well as the road, often lengthy and difficult, still left for him to travel.

Its purpose is simply as a little manual to allow the reader – at least in my hopes – to move forward. As much a tool for he who is not undergoing depression but is aware of living through a delicate situation, as for he who is experiencing difficulties but still refuses to admit them to himself, and finally for he, who – unfortunately – has just fallen into depression. May all such patients take the time to read this work.

Depression is a state that everyone has experienced at least once in his entire life and it may get dangerous for that person if the level of depression is higher. “Positive Depression” is a book that not only helps you discover the symptoms, but also shows how to treat it and get up on your feet.

I like the fact that the book is structured in chapters and each of them describes a phase in the depression stages. This is helpful for various reasons and people. You may experience depression and need to know if you can take antidepressants and for how long or maybe you are just concerned about this subject, “just in case…”

I found this a very well researched, interesting and useful at the same time. “Positive Depression” teach you how to understand yourself in those dark moments in your life.

I recommend this book to anyone especially since because of short periods of depression some people are tempted to make huge mistakes. You must learn how to rise yourself from the bottom of the depression and end up to the second plateau or the icing on the cake.

“Positive Depression” is a book about depression and how to climb back from the bottom of the bottom from the ravine of the depression. Etienne Payen describes in detail in each chapter of the book every phase of depression.

This book teaches you where to go when you reach the bottom, how to get out from depression. What I liked about this book is that exactly in the beginning all the phases are explained as simple as possible in a picture. It can’t get any simpler than that.

I might have known about the fall in a depressive period and about the climbing back, but never know what follows after: two more levels described by the author as the first plateau and the second plateau.

This book is great as both a study case on depression, but mostly it can help people, since sometimes depression can become dangerous for the one affected by it.

It was helpful, but I felt like it focused on those with one time depression not people with chronic depression. On that same point he does refer to those who cycle through his depression curve.
