Sehr durchwachsen…..einige gute Zitate, andere sind laut mir nicht relevant. Die dazugehörigen Texte sind oft sehr konfus.

Zu 80 ausgewählten Zitaten werden die jeweiligen historischen Umstände erläutert und die Lebensumstände der Urheber beleuchtet. Die Zitate sind chronologisch angeordnet, die Erklärungen beschränken sich jeweils auf ca. 2 Seiten. Man folgt der Geschichte gespannt, durch die Verknüpfung mit Zitaten kann man sich historische Begebenheiten leichter merken. Ich bin eh ein Geschichtsfan, aber dies Buch ist auch etwas für Geschichtsmuffel.

For 80 selected quotations, the respective historical circumstances are explained and the life circumstances of the authors are illuminated. The quotations are arranged chronologically, the explanations are limited to about 2 pages each. One follows the story in suspense, the linking with quotations makes it easier to remember historical events. I am a history fan anyway, but this book is also something for history grumps.

Die vielen Zitate (85), die mir teilweise unbekannt waren, haben mein Geschichtsbild von interessanten Persönlichkeiten. Gerade die Zitate aus der neueren Zeit halfen mir bei der Betrachtung und dem Verständnis meiner eigenen Vergangenheit. Das Buch ist wirlich lesenswert.
