A romance filled with humor and suspense, not to mention some sexy vampires, opening a whole new world to Piper.
Piper Smith has waited a long time to confront the man who'd played havoc on her heart as a teen. He'd disappeared from her life with a blink, never to return. Or so she thought. Parker shows up ten years later as abruptly as when he'd left. Everything in Piper's life becomes more surreal as she learns what Parker is.
With the help, or hinderance, from Francis- Parker's brother- a relationship takes hold that they find harder and harder to keep control over.
Between Francis' troubles and the ones forced down their throat by others, it's hard to find any alone time to get to know one another.
But does Piper even want to after finding out what he is?
Free on Amazon. I like the concept of the story but the grammar and editing left something to be desired. I think if that was fixed I would have given it a better star rating. I am between 2.5 and 3 stars. Also, I felt like there could have been a little more detail. Some of the paragraphs and sentences felt stilted and like they just dropped off without proper ending, I don't know...it was a little weird to read but like I said...I enjoyed the story. So pick it up if it is still free on amazon.
I would have thought it impossible to find a vampire novel that I dislike...
Then I found this.
This book is so boring that I can't even be bothered finishing it.
Aside from being mind-numbingly asinine, here are some things I don't like about it:
- The author clearly has no concept of verb tense. - And relies almost entirely on tell, rather than show. - The whole thing is one endless parade of clichés. - It's so full of simple grammatical errors that I have to assume no editor played any part in its creation. - Everything the MC does convinces me she's vapid, selfish, and shallow. Totally unlikeable. - It's unbearably repetitive. - It sends the wrong message to girls/women at every opportunity. For example, it appears that the MC is aroused by being treated like shit. Not okay. - The whole male lead sending mixed signals thing. I'm over it. If a girl/woman did the same thing, she'd be a tease, not a catch. Stop setting double standards. - Kissing/sex is more like proving that the author knows how its done, rather than any attempt at being sexy. - The book contains exactly 0% originality. There's nothing here that hasn't been done better somewhere else. - Again, with the wrong message to girls/women: being with a guy is not - repeat with me - NOT the most important thing in the world. Stop fantasizing it. - The MC has NOTHING ELSE going on, besides the supposed romance. I couldn't give a toss about what happens to her. Character development is non-existent.
When I looked at the cover of the book and saw that it said 'A Vampire Series' I backed away immediately. Normally I'm not into paranormal and Sci Fi unless there are ghosts involved but something finally drew me into reading the book. Let me go on record to say that it was awesome! It's honestly probably one of the best books I've ever read in my life. I was enjoying it to the point where I wanted to skip a few chapters ahead to see what happens, but I contained myself. I think Piper and Parker might be competition for Lexi and Ralph (Mark of Promise Series). ;) The way Parker is protective of Piper is something I'm sure most women would want in a man. The fact that Parker is a vampire automatically makes him super sexy. Every time Parker and Piper take off into the sky the song Midnight City by M83 plays in my head and I love it!
I really enjoyed this book. Parts of it were laugh out loud funny, and there were more than a few twists to keep you wanting more. And I seriously just wanted to slap Sam! I can't wait to read more. :)
