Thea Devine is the author of eighteen historical romances and four novellas, including her contributions to the Brava anthologies Captivated, Fascinated, and, most recently, All Through the Night. Devine lives with her husband of 35 years in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
After saving Marianne Nyland from a near drowning incident, Frannie "Frankie" Lutrell gets swept into the fast pace life of New York's young and rich. Countless late nights, sex partners galore, and lots and lots of money fill Frankie's life when suddenly Marianne turns up missing only to be found dead. Her death came as a shock to Frankie who also was named her sole heir bringing along scandals from the past along with millions and millions of dollars. As Frankie tries to deal with the scandal soon surrounding her every day life she can't help but think more and more about Dax Cordrey, the one man who she loved and yet could never truly have.
Thea Devine's BAD AS SHE WANTS TO BE is one smokin' hot read sure to make you think of what a true bad girl is. A must read for bad girls who need to let their inner naughty out... even if it's just in their minds. Filled with an OMIGOD twist, it is sure to get those gears shifting in your head and hopefully in your bed.
I hesitated for quite some time with this book, first whether I should buy it and my curiosity got the better of me, so I did. Then whether I should take it with me on holiday and again curiosity won and finally if I really could write a review on this book. I decided to do it anyway because every book deserves a review, even books that I do not like. But there's actually not much to review except for sex, a lot of meaningless, cold sex. And of course that's to be expected in an erotic romance but I must say there was little erotic or romantic to it. And although I like a good erotic scene in my books and not much really bothers me, the scenes in this one really did. They were so on automatic pilot, so cold and emotionless, some of them actually made my skin crawl and almost all of it was just straightforward (vanilla) sex, but still....
There's a hint of a story that can be summed up as Frankie (poor girl) saves Marianne (rich girl) from drowning and to reward her Marianne offers her to show her and let her live the life of the rich for the rest of the summer. After a few years Frankie goes to live with Marianne in New York and spends her days and nights going from one raunchy sexfest to another. Meanwhile she's in love with Dax, who is also part of Marianne's entourage but does not involve himself in her sexual escapades and he wants nothing to do with Frankie because of her lifestyle. He tries to warn her that Marianne is no good for her but she doesn't listen. Then Marianne ends up dead and Frankie is her sole heir. The press has a field day when more and more details of Frankie's depraved lifestyle leak out.
The end is quickly scrapped together to create a lousy explanation of the course and why of things and events and there's a small hint of Frankie and Dax's HEA but that's it.
Very unsatisfying and not what I expected from an erotic romance at all. But of course not all authors can capture the exquisite balance between erotica and romance to create a story that's both hot and emotional. In this case I'm sad to say that it was neither.
this book has it twist in the end that you could not imagine... I am really puzzled with what was the motive of giving her everyrhing, but in the end it all came up, and the story was good! :)
Bad as she wants to be by Thea Devine Won this book in a contest from the author and finally sat down to read it. What made me want to read this was the town of Bar Harbor, Maine which we'e spent many a day visiting over the years. Starts out with an upscale woman who takes it upon herself to drown so she'll get the attention from a guy, Dax. Problem is another girl swims to her rescue and the only thing the woman can do is draw her into her circle of friends for the summer. Years later as the girl is about to leave Maine for a job in NYC and the woman and her reunite, moving in together. The woman manipulates the girl into doing things on the sexual side. I've read a lot of books not sure if the scenes are true or if these places really exist. I've not crossed them in my life but things get out of hand and are on the wild side. When they find no fun they head to France for the weekend. A tragedy occurs when things aren't going the way the woman wants them to go thus leaving her fortune to the girl. So much manipulation and glad to find out who was spreading the rumors and lies and how. Book wasn't really what I thought I'd be but liked the travel. Don't care for dishonesty and manipulation of events. Way too many sex scenes but it all goes along with the plot. I received this book from winning a contest the author ran.
The book is very racy, but it will keep you entertained with their antics. There is not a slow moment in this story. The girls go around having random flings with strangers everywhere. But it is also a story about friendship and the ups and downs of knowing each other for many years.
První polovina je holčičí porno. To by s přimhouřenýma očima mohlo jít. Ale pak se vrhne do příběhu, který je chatrný od první stránky a celé je to tááák neskutečná nuda.
