If you like sexy romance with a billionaire alpha hero set in exotic locations, then you'll love Seducing Avery! Event planner Avery McAdams is whisked away to a private island on the job of a lifetime with the side-benefits of a forever romance with her tall, dark, handsome boss. A fun and fast read! I read it in one sitting and highly recommend!
Such a god awful book. It started off okay, but then everything moved way too fast. It's like the author thought how fast can I speed the Avery and Ryker's relationship to make it believable enough for them to love one another and want to we married. Way too cheesy for my taste (towards the end), predictable, and lacking substance. But this is what you get when reading a freebie. (Some times)
I read this debut author's novella in one afternoon. Seducing is a fun quick read that will hold your attention to the end. Hot romance, fun characters, and an interesting story line. I'm looking forward to her next offering.
This was a very nice debut. I very much enjoyed the story and the characters. It kept me interested made me smile made me laugh it was sensual and sweet. The end left me with wanting more. I can't wait for Barb's next book!
A sexy, fun, and romantic treat from a brand new author. Avery and Ryker clash from the get-go - and sparks fly. I enjoyed watching alpha male Ryker being tamed - but not too much. :)
i purchased and also received a copy of this book as a part of a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review. i rated it 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
According to a song, "Love is the golden crown that makes a man a king", but if you're like the characters in Barb Han's Seducing Avery, it's the one thing you're missing in life and are sure you can't trust. Ms. Han's tale proves once again that love has the power to transform even the most cynical, flawed, and loneliest rich man or woman into someone with hope and trust. With a quickly moving pace, I was entertained by this story for the afternoon.
Event planner Avery McAdams knows what the rich and famous are like - she's not even using her real family name because she wants to prove she can make it on her own. Avoiding romance with rich men is easy, all she has to do is remember how she's been betrayed in the past. She's absolutely not interested in getting involved, or even working again for Ryker Li, a super successful businessman she's just completed a charity even for.
Trying to keep his business and personal lives separate from each other, Ryker Li is surprised when a new and up and coming event planner makes his charity event more successful than it's ever been. Catching her sleeping in her office was an accident; wanting to get to know her better is unexpected. Especially when she makes it clear she doesn't want anything further to do with him on a business or personal level. Used to getting what he wants, Ryker refuses to take no for an answer.
The scenes between Avery and Ryker are full of smoldering chemistry and fast, witty dialogue. They have both been burned emotionally by their pasts and neither one considers love something they want in their lives. They've both seen the damage love does when betrayal is involved. Ms. Han did a good job introducing us to Avery and Ryker and letting us get to know their back stories as they learned to share them with each other. The only problem I had with the story was that it was difficult to get invested in either character because they spent so much time internally arguing with themselves about whether or not they would become intimate (they did) and get emotionally involved, that I wanted to slap them both upside the head and tell them to "knock it off already".
Will Avery realize she can have both love and a successful business? Will Ryker be able to let go of the hurt from his past to see that Avery is his future? You'll have to read Seducing Avery to find out. I really enjoyed this debut release from Ms. Han and look forward to reading more of her work.
I liked the idea of the book and was excited to read it. But I have to say that I had a hard time with this read. I understand that Seducing Avery is a novella, but I could not connect with Avery and Ryker.I felt there was not a lot of character development. There were moments when I had a hard time following the story. The dialog was choppy. At about 75% into the book, I started to get into it and the story line seemed to smooth itself out. But only for a couple chapters. The ending was too brief. I really wanted to like this book. I'm giving this 2 stars because the idea was great just underdeveloped.
Ok so a rich CEO Ryker Li wants Avery McAdams very badly. He keeps her on his island until she becomes his. I thought this book was so romantic that I cried. I thought that Li was thoughtful and enigmatic. She was interesting because of the emotions she provoked within me. The vulnerability just overwhelmed me in some parts.
The author did a wonderful job in creating the characters and storyline. The characters were emotional and daring to push the limits of society. I thought it was wonderful and I hope to read future books from this author.

Review: Determined to make her own way and not dip into her trust fund, Avery McAdams meets sexy billionaire Ryker Li when she pulls off a successful major event for him. Oh, and did I say he was sexy and smokin’ hot? He is, and Avery does everything she can to resist him physically, as well as resist his job offer to plan a big event on his private island. No way does she want to just be another notch on his belt (so to speak).
But Avery can’t help but be impressed when she is whisked to his gorgeous island paradise, and given carte blanche to plan an event for 100 people…on a week’s notice. Even though Ryker tells her she is beautiful, and is obviously interested in her, old insecurities rear their ugly heads and keep her from finding out just what it is about him that intrigues her.
Ryker wants her, but he can’t figure out why. She’s irritating, argumentative, and doesn’t fall at his feet. Maybe that’s why he’s so fascinated by her. He’s never thought about wanting a woman who will stand up to him and for him. She might just be the woman of his dreams. But first he has to get her to trust him.
This is the first book I have read by Barb Han, and I am now a big fan. Her writing style and voice kept me riveted from beginning to end. She brought this story and the characters to life with her vivid descriptions of the characters and setting.
The story is told from the points of view of Avery and Ryker. Throughout the story, each one of them has to grow in order to trust the other, and the author succeeded in showing this…after making them suffer, of course.
All in all, a really good, steamy romance, and I look forward to reading more from Barb Han.
I got this as a free download on my Kindle app, in part because it sounded interesting (and it was free) and I like to read trashy e-book romances when I'm all stressed out grading essays. This was barely a book, really it was just an outline of a book. The characters had promise: tough corporate shark Ryker and perky event planner Avery. They meet cute, form instant assumptions about each other, also instant attraction, and the plot moves from there to its logical conclusion: sex and marriage. But there was no depth here. There was some attempt at character development, but both are barely more than romance stereotypes. For me, the biggest issues were pacing (too fast) and transitions (so, so bad). Almost every chapter brought a new location, and the supporting characters were all cardboard, except Kyle, the chef. This was a complete waste of my time (but it was free), and it didn't even have good sex scenes....
Really my best advice is unless your are just really really wanting to find a somewhat romance story to read go ahead otherwise don't waste your time. This is a VERY predictable story and it is far to short for any real character developement. I mean the characters with their childhoods would have been nice to develope more so that the reader could understand the pull that bought these two together. And Even the sex scenes were lacklust. I have read some erotica romances that were the character development and all that was that great much like this book, but at least the sex scenes were hot and made it worth a read this once was just boring!
This was a fairy tale romance in the most traditional way. The story was good with a few explicit sexual scenes added in. The two lovers chemically drawn to each other but denying their attraction, you know the plot it's just the details that are different.
Sweet story, but I have to agree with a review I read saying that the connection just wasn't there. Plus not once did Avery tell Ryker she loved him, just weird. I give it 3.5 stars.
Novella. quick read with a story that is fast. for a long time Avery wanted nothing but business but made a 180 in about a second. def a fantasy with unrealistic happenings. the ending seemed rushed.
