Owen is a kid fascinated by ghost stories, but he's never seen a ghost, or met anyone who has - until Doug moves into town. Owen soon learns that Doug's family is haunted by a ghost that follows them from town to town, an entity that can slam doors and throw coffee mugs, an entity that finds Doug's family no matter where they move.
Fascinated by his friend's haunting, Owen begs Doug to let him spend the night, hoping to have a ghostly encounter of his own. Doug reluctantly agrees to ask his parents' permission, but when Mike and Sharon say no, it's the ghost that throws the temper tantrum, forcing Doug's parents to agree to the sleepover.
Owen packs a "ghost hunting kit" and prepares for a weekend of thrilling supernatural encounters, but what he experiences will change his life forever...
This is a Short Story with a length of approximately 6,000 words.
This short story is a good scare. I would admit myself looking behind to see whether someone is creeping up while reading this. Also, the scary parts will linger in memory for a long time, and I am sure I would be extra careful while looking at the bathroom mirror!
I recommend it to anyone looking out for a scary short read.
This is a very short story about a ghost and two boys. I picked it up during a free promotion and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. The ending was unique and surprising. All in all this was a great way to spend 15 minutes!
listen book lovers, ghost story lovers! Buy his book!
I have in my many years , experienced visits from ghosts! My first son has been blessed with spirits in the many homes, we have lived in. He always tells the ghosts, that they are welcome, as long as they do not act violent! So far through many decades, this has worked! So respect ghosts. Buy this book! 😍😍😍😍😍
This was a good short read. I think I read it in half an hour; it was perfect for after-dinner reading. The story was creepy with a shocking "ending", which I didn't see as a real ending. I definitely see a sequel in the works. Maybe the ghost will move to Owen's house and haunt him!!
When Owen befriends Doug, a boy even lower on the social ladder than himself, he accidentally learns the boy lives with a ghost. Obsessed with ghosts, he pesters Doug to learn everything he could.
The ghost follows Doug's family, who move frequently in an effort to get away, wherever they end up. Owen wangles an invitation to stay for one night, an effort opposed at first until the "ghost" makes it plain it wants to happen.
A ghost wants to meet Owen. Is that a good or bad thing?
Owen, a boy fascinated with ghosts, befriends a boy who claims to have one. An unlikely sleepover turned necessity leads to a disastrous conclusion. The story kept building and building and when the end finally came I was expecting broken necks, spinning heads, levitating furniture, possessed souls, but alas it was not to be. Still, a good read.
Part of the fun of a ghost story is the mystery behind the ghost. There is very little of that here. Badelaire does a great job building it up and getting you interested and maybe even a little bit creeped out. But then he just seems to drop you off rather abruptly and leaving you disappointed.
Ok, maybe I wanted a more drawn out and fulfilling ending. That said, I'm thrilled to discover a "new author," which of course only means new to me. I really like his turn of phrase, and am enjoying digging through his works.
A neat little ghost story for Halloween. Some very creepy moments in this one. I saved it until Halloween to read so I was in just the right mood as well!
