so polnareff is like deadass main character number two because we got ANOTHER POLNAREFF PLOT which I'm not complaining about. god Anubis is SUCH a cool stand and i love how like it learned each time. if they didn't stop him when they did it would have been game over. my goat just wanted to look fresh and fly and also died to the barber. also poor poor joseph. he - like polnareff - just wanted to take a shit and look where it got him. looking like a perv and sticking to metal tsk tsk tsk

Continuing their journey to Cairo, Polnareff and Joestar face a Stand that can move from user to user, keeping them on their toes, and Joseph deals with an ability that puts him and Abdul in the grasp of a femme fatale who's taking great glee in their suffering! Araki brings fans a tense entry brimming with increasing stakes and energy.

okay, setting aside a slightly sexist subtitle, I really enjoyed this volume.
The author finally learnt not to take everything too seriously and started to put some comical scenes between the battle scenes.

I did not give one solitary shit about Anubis. Oingo Boingo was a fun reprieve. But then the fucking sword showed up and I had no time for it. I knew it was going to show up, the stallion battalion was going to take some serious damage, Jotaro would do something witty, and then we would move on like this thing never showed up. At this point, I was dying for something meaningful to happen. So I saved myself some trouble and skimmed the shit out of those couple of chapters.

Then Joseph became a magnet and that was fun because hanging out with Joseph is always a good time. He's not quite as charming as his younger version, but older Joseph has a worldliness that gives him his own appeal. The slow build as his magnetism escalate was pretty neat. If it weren't for Joseph I wouldn't have really cared though.

Not much else to say here. The constant stand fights without much else has worn me down. The quality of the story is entirely at the mercy of whether or not the stands themselves are fun. Which isn't great news, considering this series's hit/miss ratio has gotten a bit fucked as of late.
