About the author

Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Zbliżając się do końca sagi poznajemy tego wybranego, który ma wszystko zakończyć - Nataniel z Ludzi Lodu. Jako 7 syn 7 syna nie ma wyjścia, los tak chciał, że musi rozprawić się z Tengelem Złym. Jednak autorka postanowiła jeszcze trochę poprzeciągać sagę i ten tom umiejscowiła w czasie, kiedy to Nataniel jest jeszcze zielony jak szczypior i musi trenować swoje hokus-pokus. Dostaje ku temu okazję, bo padła prośba, by zajął się nawiedzonym zajazdem, w którym pracuje Ellen Knutsen, która też jest postacią wyjątkową.

Bez owijania w bawełnę, ten tom był nudnawy. Postać Nataniela jako tego wyjątkowego, wybranego dla mnie była bardzo nijaka oraz mało charakterna. W moich oczach dużo ciekawsza była postać Ellen. Wydarzenia, które działy się w tym tomie były dla mnie kolejnym zapychaczem, żeby tylko wydłużyć sagę. W końcu jakie może być lepsze rozwiązanie? Po co od razu wprowadzać nas do finału, zawsze możemy jeszcze iść w czasy, gdzie główny bohater się uczy swoich mocy i pyk tom gotowy. Wątek romantyczny był w porządku i cieszę się, że autorka, póki co oczywiście, nie popłynęła na zbyt wzburzone wody. Na tle ostatnich tomów nie było tak źle, bo bywały gorsze części, więc zostawiam dwie gwiazdki.

Niezbyt ciekawy był ten tom, przynajmniej w moim odczuciu. Jego najsilniejszym punktem była dla mnie bez wątpienia para głównych bohaterów, czyli Nataniel i Ellen. Naczytałam się wcześniej, że są nudni, ale osobiście tak nie uważam, eteryczność Nataniela nawet mi się pdooba, a niezdarność i niepewność Ellen dodaje jej uroku.

Sama historia jednak... Z tym już jest gorzej. Żadna ze składowych opowieści nie zdołała mnie zainteresować na tyle, bym czytała z zaangażowaniem, może poza ostatnimi stronami w których na scenę weszła Tova. Może to miał być jedynie wstęp, który miał przybliżyć figury Ellen i Nataniela. Tak czy inaczej, sama historia mogłaby być po prostu ciekawsza.

This book is about Nataniel. We get to learn more about his abilities, which is nice. There's also Ellen who also has a special ability, which pretty much fills a gap in Nataniel's powers. Hers are not as impressive though. They become friends, as love is not reccomend since their destiny would be grim. It contains multiple stories instead of 1 big mystery. At the end we also get a glimpse of Tova, which sounds like a very promising character.

Langt fra min favorit i serien, men alligevel altid en fornøjelse at vende tilbage til Isfolket! (Jeg er absolut ikke fan af Nataniel, men får sikkert endnu et par bøger med ham .. forhåbentligt bliver han bedre ..)

Jag börjar närma mig slutet på Sagan av Isfolket. Detta är bok 39 av 47. Det har varit en ren fröjd att läsa serien, och den har boken gjorde mig inte heller besviken.

Att lyssna på Sagan om Isfolket är som att hälsa på släkten. Man känner dem alla, nya personer dyker upp i handlingen, personer som bara nämnts tidigare och har hållit sig i periferin. De tar nu plats och blir huvudpersoner.

Nataniel, son i femtonde generationen från Tengel den gode och Silje, är utvald att leda den slutgiltiga kampen mot Tengel den onde. Han kan inte binda sig vid någon, han har en livsuppgift, något han inte kan förklara närmare för dem han möter. Han tränar sig på små uppdrag. Vid ett av dem möter han Ellen Knutsen och upptäcker till slut att de har betydligt mer gemensamt än vad han först kunde ana.

Screaming of Mute Voices
Nathaniel Gard of Ice People was seventh son of the seventh son choosen to lead the final battle with Tengel the Evil. Still he was too young and just started training his skills. Ellen Knutsen survived something terrying in her childhood and she made a great effort to forget about that. No one could suspected that Nathaniel and Ellen have so much in common.

This is one of the worst of the Isfolket-books. It is partly good and interesting, even a little creepy in the first story. But it is so obvious that Sandemo has recycled an old novel of hers, that had nothing whatsoever to do with Isfolket, changed the characters for people from the Isfolket, added some new material, and then tried to weld it all together. Not very successfully. For instance, the first description of Nataniel in this book does not fit what we already know about Nataniel.

Mér finnst skemmtilegra thegar bækurnar fjalla um eitthvad yfirnáttúrulegt, eins og "Martröd" og "Hyldýpid" voru. Sídan er fyrsta bókin náttúrulega alltaf best.
