Overall a good read. It's not really a study book of Job, per se, as Ray uses the book of Job more as a jumping off point to discuss evangelism and man's eternal destiny than digging into it verse-by-verse. I disagreed with Ray's initial assertion that Job was unregenerate (he contradicts himself later in the book and admits that Job looked forward to the Redeemer in Job 19:25-27). While Job certainly didn't have all the details of the Gospel, he did believe what had been revealed to him, just as other Old Testament saints did, since the Gospel was preached in Genesis 3:15 (see also Abraham's example in Romans 4). I also disagree with Ray's suggestion that if one does not like something that a pastor has said, just pray about it and leave the issue with God, or leave the church to avoid being divisive, rather than addressing the issue at hand. There needs to be much more nuance on this type of advice because it could encourage the wrong type of behavior in congregants, namely ignoring the admonition of our Lord to hold them accountable using Matthew 18 principles. Pastors don't get a pass from Matthew 18 being applied to them.

Just a great book. Simple and profound. It met my need to be able to think through the profundity of the concept of suffering and gave me deep answers for an incomprehensible topic.

An excellent book on why we as Christians still suffer despite our faith and even despite our obedience. Ray Comfort takes on some of the toughest questions ever asked by believers and he uses the story of Job to do so. Well written and highly recommended for all believers.
