Stolen started out boring. There was a lot of tell and not much show in building up the background for why Sean was doing what he was doing. Though this is a book in the Lucy Kincaid series, Lucy herself was a peripheral character throughout. This book was focused on Sean.
We get slightly more introduction to Duke Rogan and Jack Kinkcaid, though I wasn't particularly in suspense when they were in danger, because I didn't know either character enough to care, more Jack than Duke.
Once the action started, the book got better, and the suspense was more intense.
On the worse side, though, the editing of this book was abysmal. There were extra words, missing words, its instead of it's, digged instead of dug, elevator and lift used in the same sentence, descended and down used in the same phrase, and though some people use it this way, shined was used repeatedly instead of shone, and that grated every time I read it.
Stolen didn't add much to the series as a whole, and was not a solid piece of suspense writing. It was almost as if someone else wrote this book, though the style was mostly very similar.
Though I was disappointed in the book as a whole, I'm leaving it at three stars, because under all the ick, the story had good bones, and it was resolved well. I just didn't much care for it.
