Stolen by Allison Brennan brings plenty of intensity to the sixth book in the Lucy Kincaid romantic suspense series. Private investigator Sean Rogan’s past has caught up with him. To clear his name and avoid going to prison, he must help the FBI take down a rogue agent. He must do this without telling his girlfriend FBI trainee Lucy Kincaid or his family what he doing. His only backup is FBI Agent Noah Armstrong.

I normally enjoy all of Allison Brennan’s books, but this one didn’t live up to my expectations. The story’s pacing was somewhat uneven and didn’t keep me rapidly turning the pages. However, the last half was better.

The plot has plenty of twists and turns, but is unbelievable at times. However, the author’s ability to combine strong characters and complex plots kept me reading and the ending was satisfying.

Overall, this was a slight disappointment for me. It’s the sixth book I’ve read by this author and I’m looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I purchased a copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date was June 04, 2013.

Since Sean Rogan began working for his brothers’ consulting company, he’s made it his mission to prove himself, that he’s not the screw up he was to them in college. But since he began his relationship with FBI Agent in Training Lucy Kincaid, Sean wants to do everything he can to support her career and not be the reason she’s held back. So, when he’s offered an undercover assignment that will permanently clear his name, he grabs the opportunity despite it being connected to FBI Agent Noah Armstrong. It was always going to be a dicey operation but it develops into a bigger enterprise than they’d anticipated, endangering those close to Sean.

I’ve liked Sean but have kept him at arm’s length given that he’s keeping some pretty big secrets from Lucy, though his love for her is never in question. Because I knew going into the story it was primarily about him, I wasn’t all that eager to start. However, it didn’t take long for me to get completely immersed in it, embracing all things Sean. He’s a complicated man, much more than I’d given him credit to be, and his actions here won me over. He made decisions that were extremely hard, always putting friends and family first, displaying extraordinary skills to read people and escape out of tough situations.

The excitement is at a high level and the tension even more. There are a lot of threads to untangle and sketchy people on both sides of the law to make it difficult to discern the good guys from the bad. I listened to the story and the narrator delivered a great performance. I liked that Kate Udall didn’t succumb to the trend of altering her voice for male characters. She’s a wonderful storyteller, elevating a really good story to new heights. This series just keeps getting better and better.

This is one of those books. You know, the books that keep you reading to the wee hours of the morning. I could not put it down. We have had a lot of questions about Sean and we get a lot of answers in this book. This one is Suspense all the way and Lucy takes a supporting role. Sean is the star and he delivers.

Sean Rogan loves Lucy Kincaid and will do anything to protect her. The offer he receives is more like a deal with the devil, but Sean takes it in order to put his past firmly and legally in the past. He can't tell Lucy or his brother, Duke, what is going on and he has to trust someone he really doesn't trust, FBI Agent Noah Armstrong. That trust thing goes both way and that could be a problem in this undercover cat and mouse game involving a dirty Senator and an FBI mole.

Lucy Kincaid loves Sean Rogan and will do anything to protect him, even tossing her FBI career before it has even started. She knows there are some dark shadows in Sean's past, but for Lucy, love and trust go hand in hand. When a nasty tempered FBI Agent shows up at Quantico hurling accusations at her about Sean, Lucy is determined to help him any way she can.

A quick enjoyable read, Stolen is the sixth book in the Lucy Kincaid series. This book focuses on Lucy's boyfriend Sean and is a twisty tale. I like these two together and all of their family members and friends. I would highly recommend this book or any of Allison Brennan's books. She never disappoints.

Sean Rogan goes undercover with the FBI to clear his name and make things right. The secret mission may just cost him his family and his life.

This was probably my favorite book in the series so far. Sean Rogan has been a mystery to many readers and this book really digs into his past and reveals the bad side we don’t see when he’s with Lucy. The rebellious side of Sean gets him into trouble a lot, but it shows you how determined he is. The tech talk in the book may be a bit too much for some, but I found the details of the mission and the details behind hacking extremely interesting.
The one aspect of the book that I did not like was how Duke constantly belittles Sean and doubts his abilities. I understand that Duke raised Sean after their parents died, but he needs to let go and let Sean be himself. Sean is incredibly smart and dedicated to Lucy. Lucy’s actions showed how much Sean means to her. She trusted him and believed in him.

Security Specialist Sean Rogan knew his past would eventually catch up with him. Now he must choose between going undercover to help the FBI or go to prison. It's an easy choice. His FBI contact is Agent Noah Armstrong. Noah works with Sean's girlfriend, Lucy Kincaid, but neither of them can tell her what is going on. To go undercover, Sean accepts a job from his old college buddy, Colton. This job entails breaking into a building with high security and stealing an item. Sean digs to find out what building and what item; but Colton is keeping the information to himself until they're ready to go forward with their plan. As the undercover operation goes from days to weeks, Sean finds himself and his family in dangerous situations.

The sixth installment in the Lucy Kincaid series is mostly about Sean. It's my favorite in the series so far. The FBI is looking into Senator Jonathan Paxton. They know he hired Colton and his team to steal something. They're hoping their inside man, Sean, can find out what exactly is going on and get evidence against Senator Paxton. The plot has a lot of twists and turns. I was never sure who was leaking information to Senator Paxton until the end of the book.

So many characters from past books...Duke Rogan, Suzanne Madeaux, Rick Stockton, and Jack Kincaid, play a part in this story. It can be read as a standalone, but your experience will be much richer if you read Allison Brennan's previous books. My rating: 5 Stars.

I guess I had forgotten how intense the relationship between Lucy and Sean is. Very intense, very dramatic. These two, hell, the entire family, are trouble magnets. It's surprising how much happens to them. I enjoyed this but I didn't need to pay attention to every word to follow along. Maybe because I have read this before.

Narration was good, story fine. Will continue series. Note: my feelings might be influenced by other recent reads being so awesome and this one not quite as awesome. In other circumstances, certainly my first read years ago, this would be more enjoyable.

I kinda liked how Lucy was the sidekick for this book, that Sean was at the forefront. Sean has always been there for Lucy, something I really liked about him.

I hated how Sean had to hide so much from everyone that he loved. I really hated Duke at the start, especially after we learned that Sean was working undercover and his part of the argument wasn't real, while Duke's response was 100% real. I hated that Sean had to face that fact and just what the brother he looked up to, thought of him.

The undercover assignment was interesting. I hated how Sean had to betray his old friends, but it did seem like they were really doing something wrong, so they deserved it. I hated how things started to spin out of control so fast for Sean. I wasn't sure that Noah would be the best partner, due to Noah's feelings for Lucy, but he managed to step up to help and protect Sean.

I was almost sorry to see how all the bad guys ended up, most them deserved so much more.

I did like the honest talk that Sean had with Duke at the end. I only hope that Duke actually hears what Sean was saying.

Really enjoyed this one! It wrapped up several loose ends from previous books, and I feel Sean really came into his own.
It looks like several of the characters from this series will be moving on to the next phase in their lives, and I can't wait to read what that brings.

This book is focused on Sean Rogan. While it was interesting to learn more about his past, I got lost in the chaotic and quick ending. Noah’s character is growing on me.

Stolen started out boring. There was a lot of tell and not much show in building up the background for why Sean was doing what he was doing. Though this is a book in the Lucy Kincaid series, Lucy herself was a peripheral character throughout. This book was focused on Sean.

We get slightly more introduction to Duke Rogan and Jack Kinkcaid, though I wasn't particularly in suspense when they were in danger, because I didn't know either character enough to care, more Jack than Duke.

Once the action started, the book got better, and the suspense was more intense.

On the worse side, though, the editing of this book was abysmal. There were extra words, missing words, its instead of it's, digged instead of dug, elevator and lift used in the same sentence, descended and down used in the same phrase, and though some people use it this way, shined was used repeatedly instead of shone, and that grated every time I read it.

Stolen didn't add much to the series as a whole, and was not a solid piece of suspense writing. It was almost as if someone else wrote this book, though the style was mostly very similar.

Though I was disappointed in the book as a whole, I'm leaving it at three stars, because under all the ick, the story had good bones, and it was resolved well. I just didn't much care for it.

This story is focused more on Sean Rogan than on Lucy Kincaid. Sean continues to battle his past, his brother Duke at RCK and some old friends who want his electronic safe cracking talents for a lucrative payoff.

Once again, after all the background and basic info is laid out the story builds to a very satisfying climax. Noah Armstrong plays a major role and his interest in Lucy is once again explored.

The ending made up for a ho hum first half of the book so my 3.5 stars turns into a 4.

I really enjoy the character development of the Lucy Kincaid series but I wasn't a super fan of it being from her man's perspective for the majority. The crime itself was also not my favorite but it is written really well and still kept me interested throughout.
Decent read.

Definite 4 stars.

We finally get a Sean story and it's knuckle-biting. We get to look back into Sean's past and what he's willing to do to protect Lucy and her future with the FBI. We also see how Sean's life has been defined by his parents' death and his relationship with his brothers. We see his growth as a young arrogant tech protege to the person he is now.

Lucy takes a back seat in this case but not altogether out of it though. I liked the trust they have with each other despite everything.

I listened to the audiobook for Library Journal. I think I would have liked it better had I been able to read it and skip over the repetitive conversations, explanations, and convoluted plot. This is promoted as a "Lucy Kincaid" entry, but the protagonist and main character is her boyfriend, Sean Rogan. If I heard the word "grinned" once, I heard it a hundred times. I think it would have been very good with better editing and at 50 pages shorter.

My favourite thing about this series is how literally every crime has at least three different plots woven into it? And this one was perhaps the most complex so far. Itt was so personal, and vengeful, and exciting! I love every moment of it.

I hadn't read previous books in the Lucy Kincaid series before diving into this one. With that being said, this was a great book to start with. While the author hints back to previous adventures between Lucy and Sean, it's Sean who really is the star of the show here.

This book builds up slowly, with lots of background information. It's pretty important, because that background was needed for me to get a feeling for who Sean is, and how he ends up where he does. There are also a lot of moving pieces (and people) here, so spending this time with them makes it easier to follow along. Once you get through all of that, at maybe just over halfway (?), the story itself really starts to take off and things move pretty quickly.

It was a fun ride, and while there were a lot of people, it was easy to follow the motivations and actions of each and not lose your place in the story. I never found myself pulled away from the story wondering what I had missed earlier on to make sense of what was happening. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the level of complexity you like.

I would definitely read more of this series. It's a perfect vacation/weekend read if you love an FBI based thriller.

Another great book by Allison Brennan, I enjoyed getting to read from someone else's point of view. Stolen, focuses more on Sean and his dark past, that he tries so hard to conceal. I liked getting to know and understand the men behind Lucy, the men that fight for her and believe in her.

This books is definitely worth the read, Allison Brennan did a phenomenal job making Sean the focus and pushing Lucy to the back. I enjoyed the change of pace.

I hadn't read any other books in this series before diving in to this one. While there is some background I would not have known, the book was written so that it could stand alone.

The story itself focuses more on Lucy's boyfriend, Sean. It's his adventure, and we learn about his past. The beginning of the book introduces a lot of characters, and has a lot of background, so it's a bit slower. If you'd been following this series this would probably be a quick read for you as it sounds like many have been involved for a while. Once the ball gets rolling though, it picks up momentum quickly.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely dive into the Lucy Kincaid series again. It was an easy read, perfect for a weekend or vacation.

Could be a stand alone book but this is #6-so the reader would miss the backstory of the romance between Private Investigator, Sean Rogan and FBI Trainee, Lucy Kincaid! A good plot with a few twists with only one backup agent to help…Sean is undercover and cannot tell his brother or Lucy to protect them while Sean is involved in a caper of digital numbers. Enjoy

Another fine adventure tale, with Sean enlisted by the government to go undercover. This puts his relationship with Lucy in jeopardy, and makes him an unwilling ally with Noah.

The sixth installment of the Lucy Kincaid series takes on a new perspective. While always written from a third person omniscient narrator, this novel focuses on Sean Rogan – Lucy's boyfriend – and his past, his friends, his choices, and the predicaments that he is placed in in present time. Going out on a limb to help the FBI, Sean puts his life on the line, sacrifices his relationship with his own family, and risks losing Lucy in order to protect himself from his past. But as the top-secret, undercover investigation is underway, Sean realizes that while he's willing to do just about anything, he's not willing to lose Lucy; the problem is that the people he's working for are well aware of this fact, as well.

Placing Lucy's (and others') life in danger as well as his own, Sean uses his special skillset to help Special Agent Noah Armstrong, who has feelings for his girlfriend, and assistant director of the FBI, Rick Stockton, take on a senator with a vigilante mindset. What he doesn't expect is for insiders on his team to turn against him and use him for their own personal vendetta. A man who is usually two steps ahead of everyone else, finds himself a few steps behind – and it's all because of his own past.

I liked everything about this story.

The case is complex. It kept me guessing from the start although I did lock on to my theory and couldn't see any other way for the case to resolve. I loved the twists.

Lucy and Sean. Their relationship continues to develop and grow. They are a solid team and trust one another when it counts. I'm looking forward to more with them in the future.

Family drama. This story focuses on Rogan family drama. It is tense to see Duke and Sean reveal their concerns.

The ending is more than satisfying with the resolutions to the case and the various relationships involved. This is my favorite in this series so far.

Finally, I jumped back and forth reading and listening. Kate Udall is narrating. The first couple books had another narrator. I don't know if Kate had a scheduling conflict or what, but I like her style a little better than the first narrator.

This is my first Allison Brennan book and therefore my first Lucy Kincaid. Perhaps I should have started with a bike earlier in the series but I honestly don’t think it would have mattered. Even though Lucy is mentioned and involved, the plot is entirely centered around her new boyfriend Sean Rogan and his past. Sean is forced to lie, coverup, and manipulate his way to freedom. By joining forces with FBI and his college friends, Sean manages to coerce all parties into finding the truth and evidence that is crucial to the ongoing investigation and his ultimate release.

I really enjoyed the ending and suspense, but it took a bit for it to catch up to that point. After 100 pages or so, I was still battling who the characters were and where this was going. I will definitely read more by her and of this series.

I'm torn on how to evaluate this book. I haven't read the 5 previous books and I'm unsure how much of my thoughts on the book might be my fault for coming in mid-series vs how much of it are actual problems with the story. The book was well written and ha very good reviews so my inclination is that I should have read the previous books first. I thought the love story between the leads was beautiful... the relationship was very supporting and trusting. But, I found myself really confused a lot by the plot (which again was probably my fault) and I had a hard time really getting sucked into the story. I think readers should definitely give this book a try but I would suggest starting at the beginning of the series.
