Darkening Danger
WHEN THE SUN GOES DARK, ONLY THE TRUTH CAN SAVE US.
Geophysical Engineer Michael Levine has spent his career building walls against inconvenient truths. Now, the universe is tearing them down one by one.
Deep inside NOAA's Miami complex, classified data paints an apocalyptic picture: Jupiter's gravitational shield Earth's cosmic protector for 4 billion years is failing. Within 72 to 80 hours, a catastrophic wave of interstellar debris will block out the sun entirely. Global temperatures will plunge. Crops will fail. Civilization will fracture.
But the scientists who know the truth are being silenced.
Racing against the clock from Miami to Corpus Christi, Levine crosses paths with Johanna Mueller a brilliant, guarded scientist operating under a false identity, carrying a satchel that powerful forces are willing to kill for. Together, they must outmaneuver government cover-ups, a rogue operative, and the chilling darkness that is already swallowing the sky.
Haunted by his own intellectual arrogance he once publicly destroyed the research that might have prevented all of this Levine must reconcile science with faith, pride with humility, and reason with the terrifying possibility that some forces are beyond human control.
DARKENING DANGER is a gripping science-fiction thriller that blends astrophysics, government conspiracy, and spiritual reckoning into a breathless race against extinction. Perfect for fans of Andy Weir, Michael Crichton, and Daniel Silva.

Darkening Danger (Sammy Sutton)
Thriller/Suspense
Michael Levine a Geophysicist from Texas, meets Johanna Mueller a woman who he thinks is crazy or maybe paranoid. Soon he finds out why. There is a killer on the loose and Johanna does not know who to trust. Add to it there is a black out and the sun will not shine for days, which is causing pandemonium. With this blackening of the sun when people go to sleep they are having some form of hallucination, for that is the only explanation Michael can come up with. Michael is compelled to protect the woman(Johanna) he just met and save her from the killer and the uncertain future.
Fast paced thriller. I look forward to the sequel: Concealed.

In these stressful times, most of us welcome a good book that helps us escape, or, for those of you who remember the old TV commercials, a good Calgon-Take-Me-Away moment. Sammy Sutton’s Darkening Danger, a prequel to her novel, Concealed, is just the ticket for anyone who wants to be absorbed in a great story.
The two main characters, Michael Levine and Johanna Mueller, meet unconventionally and their relationship takes a fast ride from Go! They must learn (quickly!) to deal with their feelings toward one another, learn to trust, handle a killer on the loose, and survive in a darkening danger that threatens all of humanity.
The author writes an exciting and fast-paced story that takes the reader right to the doorstep of darkness and all of its secrets and dangers. I thoroughly enjoyed Darkening Danger and can’t wait to read Concealed.

Author Sammy Sutton has created a gripping, fast-paced, and thought-provoking story, Darkening Danger. Written in the first-person point of views by her leading characters, Dr. Michael Levine and Johanna Mueller, I could feel the intimate emotions of our world under threat.
Secrets, uncertain of who to trust and a killer loose is just a small part of this cleverly woven tale. Imagine a world without technology, sunlight, and anarchy on the streets. This prequel to the soon to be released novel, Concealed, had this reader totally absorbed from front page to back.
I have no hesitation in recommending, Darkening Danger, to all readers who enjoy quality fiction: five stars easily.

This started off promising with clearly an apocalyptic event about to take place. Then a weird romance kind of started, and the focus shifted to that and I lost interest.
The story didn’t have a clear direction and the writing was sloppy. Disappointing, cuz the storyline the author started the book with had real potential.

Amazing work by Sammy Sutton on a true theory that could happen at any time. Jupiter is our savior which most people don’t understand. Great read as a setup for Concealed!

Darkening Danger by Sammy Sutton left me spellbound. As it drew me deeper into the world of Dr. Michael Levine and Johanna Mueller, I found myself lured into the possibility that we could have this happen in our future. Was this darkness designed by Doctor Levine or is he the solution to it?
Where are we as a world going as we continue on this path of self-delusion and destruction? How long will we keep our heads in the sand to save us from looking within?
Ms. Sutton left me nearly panting for more, on the edge of my seat and wondering if it were possible and how we as a people could avert this. Is this a metaphor for the darkness that reigns in some souls or a reality that may come in time if we continue on our current path?
I highly recommend this book and personally cannot wait for the sequel.

This is a Gripping Novel...
I like reading novels that are written in the first-person point of view. I am also a big fan of technology and sunshine and the beauty of a moonlit night. What would we do if the sun and moon were gone? I remember when I was young and going on in the rainfall at night - it was so dark I could not see my hand in front of my face.
What if we no longer had electricity? Would we be lost in the dark? Would we have compassion for our children and others too? Who do you trust? It is a scary aspect that I pray never happens...but who knows what the future really holds? Would you lock the doors or start the engine and slowly make it out onto the streets where chaos rules? I hope this fictional novel Darkening Danger can help you light the way.

A very exciting book involving two great characters. Michael Levine and Johanna Mueller have a chance meeting that turns their lives upsidedown. Their struggle to stay alive depends on the ability to learn the art of "trust." A "mole" is after the secrets that Johanna knows, but does not have a clue who it is or which bit of infomation is that important to risk life and limb for. All this goes down as the world turns dark for 3 days. What would you do if the world went balck for 72 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A must read and a 5 star rating.

This book was a very fast paced thriller that makes you wonder what the world would be like if there was no electricity or no sun. I am looking forward to reading Concealed.

Darkening Danger is a beautifully intense story that draws the reader into a world of tension and mystery. Your writing creates a strong, dark atmosphere that feels both immersive and emotional.
The story shows great potential, especially in how you build suspense. With a little more depth in the characters and smoother transitions, it could become even more powerful.
Keep writing, your voice is meaningful, and this story truly leaves an impression.

This started off as a really engaging read with a strong premise and solid pacing and I was genuinely into it for most of the novella. But by the end, I found myself more confused than satisfied. The story seemed to lose clarity, and some plot points didn’t fully come together in a way that made sense.
Overall, a good novel with potential, but the ending left me scratching my head more than anything else.

The concept behind the story is excellent - Some government secret and a scientific anomaly where the sun remains hidden for days at a time. There are elements of suspense and a romantic twist with the leading characters.
The delivery of the story, however, leaves much to be desired. The characters bond too quickly- in only a quick meeting the rich tycoon and scared government agent are head over heals for each other and need to trust each other with their lives. The romance is superficial and the dialogue feels artificial. For example, in almost every conversation the characters have, they say each others name. In real life we hardly ever do this. When we talk to each other, it's rare to repeat the person's name who you are speaking to in each sentence.
Some of the scientific details seemed incorrect. For example, 3 days without the sun would not harm most plants. I wasn't sure why all of Earth's natural vegetation would die if the sun would not come up for three days.
Lots of characters are thrown around, but the reader never really gets to meet them or understand their significance.
There are some grammatical issues (like incorrect use of "your" vs. "you're")
I read this with an open mind and really wanted to like the book, but while I think the author has an excellent concept for a story, this iteration of those ideas fell short for me.
Disclosure: I received this book for free from Goodreads, however this had no impact on my review. I rated the story for the quality with which it was written.

The writer does a great job of setting up the plot and creating interesting characters. The book moves along at a good pace, however I end up with too many questions. The sun goes out and the main character knows why it's happening, I think, but we are never told why. Why has the sun gone out? Why will it come back in three days? Why has it gotten dark but not cold? Why is the air too thin to support aircraft flight but people can still breathe? Why have the lights, the energy gride gone out? And why does our hero stop in the middle of the apocalypse to play bondage games with the gal who may or may not have some answers to what is going on? Ok ten out of ten for style but minus several million for good thinking.

A scary enjoyable story told from the first-person perspectives of the two main characters, Darkening Danger holds a mirror up to the thoughts of the two protagonists who see only darkness reflected within the glass. I liked their struggle to retain sanity as the world comes apart around them and I particularly liked the open-ended final scene leaving us with the potential for a sequel.

A surprisingly quick read.
It had action, suspense and sex. I wasn't sure what the story would be when it started because of all the story lines and settings, but it all came together.
Why did Joanna fake her name?
Interesting.
I enjoyed this book.
