There’s something magical about Înflori … and his name is Nicolæ.

Out of the rain and gloom of a grey day comes a tinkling of bells, followed by the bewitching presence of a blind gypsy stranger offering an unexpected act of kindness. It’s just a cup of tea but it’s the man offering it and what he says, that leaves an inerasable impression on Dustin.

"Try to keep in mind that the sun still shines behind the clouds” (…)

“Simple, something you might say to a child, that the sun still existed behind the cloud cover, but the meaning kept hitting Dustin at the most random moments.”

Dustin is our morose narrator; he’s tired, he’s damaged, and just … empty. All of his relationships seem to start and finish in a bathroom stall, no kissing, and no names or perhaps he’s too far gone to recall them. Yes, he’s one of those … but hang on, because there is a good reason for it all and when Dustin decides to seek out the enigmatic gypsy his life begins to take on a new meaning. He just has to believe in the possibilities and trust - even though it scares him to death and it’s going to take a big hunk of something special to get there.

“He kept asking himself: are you there, sun? Behind the clouds in my eyes?”

Big in stature, bold in looks, his unpretentious life is as simple as sand. Nicolæ really couldn’t be more opposite than Dustin, and yet could he be Dustin’s hunk of special?

Nicolæ’s presence exudes an aura of all-knowing prophetic mysticism. He may not have his sight but there’s no one who sees better; his spooky intuition makes him a Prince of perception and just like Dustin, I was captivated by him. Nicolæ is just so freaking special it’s so hard not to fall for him!

"How do you know I'm watching you when you can't even see me?" Nicolæ stifled a smirk, voice serious, expression not. "How does the deer know when to lift her head? How does the seed know when to sprout? Or the sun to shine?" "Pure fucking magic?" "Exactly." Nicolæ chuckled.

For some reason Nicolæ finds Dustin captivating too. I mean, he can’t appreciate his good looks and won’t fall for Dustin’s well established throwaway game of seduction, and yet he sees a good man within. A man worth teaching and ultimately worth loving … maybe.

“You draw me, Dustin. But I have yet to understand if you draw me because you are beacon or because you are flame. And I have no desire in getting burned." … "Can you control it?" Nicolæ's hand felt heavy on his chest. "If it's already started to burn?" … "Maybe not alone," Nicolæ answered.

Înflori charmed me, Nicolæ enchanted me and Dustin grew on me. I need to congratulate A.F Henry for delivering a unique healing-hearts redemption story which allowed me to peek into the lives of the Roma gypsy’s. Their culture and superstitions have always aroused my fascination and perhaps this is what fuels my wonderment at meeting Nicolæ.

I could mention a few personal issues and plot weaknesses but the good outweighs the bad and I don’t want to steer you away from something special just because of some niggles. I recommend that you read this, it’s lovely. And please let me know if Nicolæ bewitches you too.

"Don't beg me Dustin, convince me." The whimper of need from Dustin's throat could not be contained. It rushed out against Nicolæ's palm. "I don't know how."

"Better." Nicolæ smiled. "At least that sounded real."

Înflori really was quite a enchanting story told from the perspective of Dustin, a man with a habit of substance abuse, sex in toilet cubicles and also a shitload of guilt.

Nicolæ, on the other hand, is quarter weather forecaster, a third of animal whisperer, one eighth cryptic and 100% "Gypsy", one of the Roma people. Though not officially a weather forecaster or animal whisperer (though I refuse to believe otherwise), he is very much the mysterious hero, primed and ready to swoop in and save Dustin's sorry ass.

These men are very very different, and their courting dance is rather.. Quirky. The way their relationship grows and builds is quite different. Refreshing and unique. You don't seem much of the likes of this in M/M. Their romance really is a gentle, slow burn.

"A slow burn," Nicolæ muttered. "There is so much more longevity to it. A star can stay lit only if it does not burn itself out."

Nicolæ is very much one of the, how do I say this.. charms (?) of this book, with his uniqueness (I guess) as a person that I don't think many can say they've encountered before. However I actually found him difficult to love. Well, I actually haven't managed to love him. To me, Nicolæ, being who he is, is more a mentor than anything else. And that in itself makes him feel much more distant to me than I'd like. Though I find in books that the love interest does help the hero "heal" in a way, there is still almost always a mentor or wise-random character. So, I found this arrangement rather strange, charming and a bit daring actually. Looking at the ratings and reading the reviews, I think it's pretty safe to say, it was very well pulled off.

Unfortunately... Personally, I wasn't really feeling Nicolæ as a main character. When I actually think about it, he's probably the type of character that, in another book where he would be a secondary character, I would totally fall head over heels, and be demanding a book on him in my reviews. And in Înflori, he still feels a bit like a secondary character, in the sense that he's so perfect and put together, like you haven't really gotten to see past the facade. Relationships are messy. And don't be mistaken, the one in Înflori was quite a mess too. However it was always Dustin. Nicolæ, if I recall correctly, literally did no wrong in this relationship. I mean, he did cause Dustin to have some pretty despairing thoughts, but that was never because of anything so direct such as a careless word, or, god forbid, some personal inner crisis of his own.

I think my opinion of Nicolæ is more personal and a pet peeve then anything else, so you really shouldn't take it to heart. Apart from little pet peeves, the story, though not exactly the edge-of-your-seat type, meshed wonderfully with the romance, and helped their relationship develop further, in my opinion.

Apart from all that, this was a really delightful read for me. And I'm not saying this for review's sake, this book quite literally filled me with delight when I read it.. This is a pretty busy period for me right now, but I honestly stalled numerous important tasks to read this book (which I am very much berating myself over, urgh) but I definitely have no regrets. This seems to be A.F Henley's first published book (or so I think) and I oh so hope she/he continues producing such magical books! :)

(And I am so excited for honour!! It seems more like ma thang, ya know?)

I managed to make myself sound intelligent and contemplative for 600 words, now it's time to let my inner self out. omg I am ruining this review.

A promising debut novel! I liked the cover first and then the summary intrigued me.

Dustin meets Nicolæ and it's not love at first sight, but there is definitely intrigue, since the man is blind but seems to see more and not less, also the tea was that good. I liked the beginning, was instantly hooked, and fell right into the story. A lonely twink, so it seemed at first, who was wandering through his life without a goal or purpose that is Dustin, and then there is the mysterious stranger, who manages to leave a lasting impression. It didn't hurt that I love the name Nicolae.

There is a lot of good sexual tension between them and Nicolae is not like all the people Dustin knows from the club scene, he has to chase someone for a change and this person is actually bringing out the best in Dustin's personality. So, there is the whirlwind romance where two cultures collide and not all of their family or friends are happy with the developments.

I liked that the characters had hidden depth, Dustin had reasons for his behaviour, his childhood wasn't an easy one, because of his mother, who always belittled him and even tried to kill him. Dustin's mother is also the point where I think, the happily ever after was a bit overdone. From all that was told, she abused Dustin emotionally from the start so it's strange to see her at the end happy with his life choices and even more unbelievable that she got better, mentally, after being given a stone.

Nicolae is an interesting character, a mysterious one, stable and kind, always believing in the good of all people, with powers that cannot be explained. I liked that he helped Dustin to heal emotionally, he tempered him down and was his opposite character wise, which was just what Dustin needed, to grow up, but sometimes Nicolae seemed a bit too perfect.

Editing could use some work, name was changed to a Nicole and I was wondering, where a girl came from, and some typos. My copy had some question marks between words but maybe it was just my book that had formatting issues.

Overall, the book is a refreshing one.

As someone lucky enough to have read Henley's fiction before and to have seen it grow over the months and years, I was eager to read the full-length novel about two of my favorite Henley characters. I read the book in a single sitting on a day when I very much needed some warmth in the chill of my metaphysical house, and I was not disappointed.

The thing about stories is that they mean something different to everyone who reads or hears them. It's the brilliance and importance of stories that they reach the ears and eyes and hearts of the people who need them.

I needed this story. It's a sweet one, a simple one, a love-conquers kind of tale. It's about tea and choices, sofas and dogs, dancing and family, loss and grief and pain. If it is the little things that make life worth living, then this book is full of reminders to appreciate the little things. The clasp of hands, the smell of good food, the tilt of a familiar smile, the hope that the next great encounter, the next great adventure, is right around the next corner.

Înflori is about a blind man who sees too much and a beautiful man who sees too little in himself. They meet, they learn, and they help each other grow. Both men need the embodiment of acceptance for not just what they can do, but also for who they are and who they could become that they find in their partner. The characters develop in this book, in marked ways.

As criticism, I could offer that the bad guy could have been more "bad" and thus be more realistic. There are editing mistakes, but those rest on the shoulders of the editor, not the author. The pacing and introductions of the characters, major and minor, and the details needed to further the plot were good, particularly for a first novel. I would have liked more development with some of Dustin's backstory, perhaps pieces of it earlier or done with more emotional depth. I enjoyed the way Henley built Dustin and Nicu's domains: their homes, their families, their people. They are two very different men, and Henley reflects that in all the essential details.

But to me, right now, after just finishing the book, I feel that most of that is window dressing to the image Henley's shown me through the glass. Înflori is a love story that reminded me of all the sweet and simple moments to be found when falling for someone. I enjoyed my journey with Nicu and Dustin, and I will enjoy the next story Henley pens and the warmth I'm sure it will create.

Thank you, Mr. Henley. I needed that.

This was a strangely captivating and slightly depressing story. While Nicolæ is blind, Dustin actually seems like the one with a disability. Emotionally damaged from his past, he doesn't allow anyone close or form any type of relationship. Until Nicolæ says a few choice words and Dustin can't get him out of his head, does Dustin realize what he's been missing and try and keep a hold of what he finally has.

At times, I really wanted to smack Dustin. He was an interesting but also frustrating character. He over-thought things and kept questioning his worthiness of having Nicolæ. At the same time, I really wanted to hug him because he was just so messed up in the head. Some of his actions were just cruel but by the end of the story, I really liked him. He's depressing but he grows within the story and that's part of why I really enjoyed the book.

Nicolæ, even though he's blind, never once gave the impression he had no sight. In fact, he saw more things than Dustin did, which I found amazing and very fascinating. Being a gypsy, he had a gift that allowed him to see things others couldn't. It was really amazing and I liked seeing him all philosophical and cryptic because it confused Dustin but also made Dustin rethink his life.

The story is essentially of Dustin changing. While there is some conflict near the end related to Nicolæ's family, the story is pretty much of getting Dustin's issues sorted out. There was one part I didn't like, regarding a lack of loyalty, but thankfully it didn't go far enough for me to really dislike Dustin. He came to his senses quickly and I'm extremely thankful for that!

Overall, it was a very good story. Rather depressing at times but also intriguing if you don't mind angst and cryptic gypsies. There were moments that were sweet, fun and hot that made the story even better. Definitely recommended for those who don't mind a slightly dark read.

Dustin and Nicolæ, two men can hardly be more different. If “Înflori” wouldn’t be such a perfect title for this wonderful novel it could also be named “When Worlds Collide”.

Here is Dustin, blessed with good looks and money but his young life shadowed by tragedy. The resulting feeling of guilt leaves him incapable of forming true relationships with others. So he lives a shallow, cynical life in which drugs and alcohol are his only friends.

On the other side is Nicolæ. Poor in possessions but rich in friends and family, born blind but gifted with a sight that by far exceeds what others are capable of seeing. Especially when it comes to understanding people and the workings of nature.

Rich and strong characters and a story that instantly sucks you in make “Înflori” a must-read. A.F. Henley created protagonists that are convincing because he got their character traits down to the detail. It is beautiful to read how a simple nice gesture can turn one man’s life into an emotional rollercoaster. The novel draws its strength from the different worlds and cultures Dustin and Nicolæ come from and the learning curve for Dustin. It is exciting to read how Nicolæ’s attitude continues to confuse Dustin who slowly learns the meaning of true love, what really is important in life and that it doesn’t matter where you come from. Only who you are. His new found experience helps him to make the right decision in the stories thrilling climax. But the story goes deeper. It makes you consider your own view on life and the people around you.

A.F. Henley’s strength lies in creating believable characters. It is easy to like them and find something in each of them to identify with (which also goes for the set of very good secondary characters) and that is what makes the story so terrific to read.

I hate leaving a bad review. I really do. But . . .

I disliked this one pretty intensely. Even a basic editing pass could've fixed some of the issues—not just typos and misspellings and missing words, but words which are just blatantly used incorrectly (that word doesn't mean what you think it means!) and total disregard for very, very basic rules of paragraph structure (only one speaker per paragraph, please, and why, why are so many of the paragraphs so long?)

Add to that two MCs with a dearth of redeeming qualities, tons of blatant racism thrown in, I think, to make the casual racism seem not-so-bad, and a frankly baffling climax, and the whole thing was, for me, an utter failure. TBH, I'm kinda mad I spent $4 on this.

I would say "I could not put this book down", but given that I read it on the computer, I must edit that to say "I could not stop reading from the screen until I was finished".

Înflori is a gripping, compelling novel that tells the love story of the damaged Dustin and the enigmatic Nicolæ. The men live in separate worlds, and want and expect different things out of a relationship, and that is precisely what makes the book so interesting. There is just the right amount of conflict, romance, and sensuality to make this a wonderful novel.

Henley's writing is a delight to read, partly due to his talent with weaving words and a tight well-developed plot. Where his skills really shine the most in Înflori is in the development of fascinating, believable characters, in both the main and supporting cast. Speech mannerisms, gestures, everything helps contribute to making these characters real.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys excellent writing, great characterization, a love story, or all of the above.

The story opens with a very mundane tone and setting and then when Nicolae is introduced it becomes more poetic and fantastical which is frankly gorgeous. I love how even the phrasing and the way he writes serves as a reflection of the characters and who they are. The ending was a little anti-climatic, but in some ways that seems to bring a bit more realism into the resolution and I loved the final chapter to no end. It was extremely sweet. I loved the meaning to Dustin's name and how well it fits him and I have a fondness for nicknames so that aspect of Nicolae's name was endearing. I like the side characters and the relationships between them and the main characters. I also love that it's a healthy relationship, there are far too few of these.

It was definitely an enjoyable read and something I will read again. I would also highly recommend it to friends who enjoy malexmale romance and I will definitely be reading more books by this author.

I loved this story! The writing was interesting and worked really well with the theme of the story. My one and only complaint would be that I wish this was longer. I wanted more non sexual interaction between Dustin and Nico. Nico was just so amazing, I wanted to see more on how they worked together.

4.5 Kisses

This is the first book I’ve read by AF Henley and it definitely won’t be my last. I really liked how this author gets into the mind and heart of his heroes while writing a fast-paced, romantic storyline that really gripped my attention.

Dustin is living his life on the edge. He drinks too much and has many one night stands to escape the overwhelming feeling that he isn’t good enough for anything more. After one night of nameless sex, he finds himself hung over and standing in the rain trying to hail a cab. He’s surprised when a handsome man led by two dogs approaches him and gives him a cup of tea. As the man leaves, he makes a comment that leaves Dustin almost breathless and suddenly craving more from the sweet stranger.

Dustin tries to get the handsome stranger off of his mind, but fails miserably. He finds himself going to the street he met the good Samaritan so he can find him and see why he’s so fascinated with him. He goes to a quirky shop that sells all types of tea leaves where he soon discovers the strangers name is Nicolae. Determined to meet him, he soon becomes acquaintance with a relative of Nicolae’s and is taken to a barn dance, where Nicolae is attending.

Sparks fly between them, once Dustin spots Nicolae sitting alone and moving seductively with the music. Intrigued and fascinated, Dustin soon approaches the blind man and soon realizes that there is a lot more to Nicolae than meets the eye. As the two men start to form a strong bond between them, there are people who would like to keep the couple apart. Because of this, Dustin must face his own fears and insecurities if he wants to keep Nicolae in his life forever.

I loved this book. Although it’s written in third person the book is told through Dustin’s point of view. Because of this, we’re able to see the insecurities that plague Dustin and watch him transform into someone who doesn’t think he’s worthy of love, to someone who will fight for it. I also loved Nicolae. He’s a very unique and sexy hero that has a calm, naturalness about him that I found very attractive. Because he’s gifted in more ways than one, he is quite fascinating and I understood why Dustin became so enamored with him.

The story itself is very well-written and moves quickly. Before I knew it, once I started it I was reading the last word, and I admit I hated to see it come to an end. Both of these men were likeable heroes that I thought fit very well together, and I loved the way it ended. I will say the main reason why I didn’t give this book five stars was there were still so many things about Nicolae that I wanted to know. In some ways, he’s still mysterious to me. Between his gifts and his past, I would have loved to have had more of these questions answered. But other than that little niggle, I truly loved these men and enjoyed watching Dustin’s character evolve from someone who has no inner-self-confidence to a man who believes he’s worthy of Nicolae’s love. Highly Recommended!

There is something very lyrical in the way this author writes, even when it is something less than savory (“no cologne drenched leeches tried to dry-fuck Dustin through clothing”) that brings a mental picture of exactly what is happening. I loved this.

Dustin is a lost soul in fashionable clothing and great hair. He is beautiful on the outside and cold on the inside. He is waiting outside in the rain for a cab, after having yet another one night stand that he left before the Mr. Nobody awoke, when a stranger gives him tea and a reminder that “the sun still shines behind the clouds”. A confident, controlled man with beautiful blind eyes. Dustin has been with many men and thought no further of them, but this one, Nicolae, he just can’t forget. Even a trip to the club (without use of mind-altering drugs or alcohol, as well) doesn’t work and he’s disgusted by what would normally be his trick for the night.

Turns out Nicholae has a habit of gifting tea to people who need it. Dustin leaves a message for him, and gets a terse “don’t like technology, you want me find me” kind of thing in return. In other words, Nicholae makes him work for it. He never has to work for it, because he doesn’t care enough. Or didn’t, until now. Their first real interaction, at a wedding in a barn, doesn’t go all that swimmingly but it is more than enough to get you invested in the relationship. These are richly drawn, interesting characters, flaws and all.

I enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters very much, including Nicolae’s dogs. I liked Christina, who is hoping to see some man on man kissing happening and calls Dustin a knob. Jewel and Shyla add flavor. Very nearly a character in and of itself is Nicolae’s home, which is short on money and long on atmosphere and originality.

There are some times I wished they would have been clearer with each other (especially Nicholae) but in the end it was what each needed. Dustin has a painful past, one that has built walls around him in order to protect him, but this is also something that doesn’t allow good in. It might take a little gypsy influence to make a difference.

This is a sweet story, with a bad guy who is a little bit over the top but never crosses the line into caricature and a mother, who is, well, she’s just insane. Recommended.

Înflori Teaser Excerpt

Însămânţa

There were few things in life Dustin hated as much as the rain. It didn't just make life difficult; it made it all but unbearable: wet shoes, wet hair, wet clothes—dank, dark, moody, blah. It was the kind of weather that teased migraines to life and poked at less than perfect joints. "Weather to hang yourself by," as his grandfather used to say.

The tires of passing vehicles spit ice-cold water, the drivers oblivious to, or uncaring of, Dustin's discomfort and compounding melancholy. Clouds rolled by, gray and heavy, pregnant with malaise. But for the occasional car, the street was empty. Most people, Dustin chided himself, knew better than to stand in the rain.

His head still pounded from the previous night's indulgences and his body ached in ways that made Dustin think he should probably remember why said pains existed. His stale, soaked hair had once been cleverly styled but now lay in disorder consistent with rodents' nests; his eyes had that darkly circled look coveted by vampires and punk rockers alike. He just wanted to get home, climb between his sheets, and sleep the rest of the day away.

Which he would do—gladly. If the goddamn cab would ever show up...

There is magic. In the story. In the writing and telling of it. In the imagery and the metaphors. In the people.

If you're looking for something to disappear into for stress-relief, well, this might not be the best book. Inflori captivates one in the throws of anticipation more than it relaxes, in my opinion, because I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens with Dustin and just who Nicholae is. I went to bed reading this book with every intention to get a good night's sleep, only to find myself unwilling to put it down until my eyes could no longer focus, was startled awake by the power going off (deafening silence) at 3am, and immediately went back to reading instead of trying to get more sleep.

*That* is one of the definitive basis of good story telling, and AF Henley did an amazing job in this novel as an answer to his short stories.

Need some magic? It's here, but be forewarned, you just might come away to find your internal organs a little bit too handled by the telling of the story =).

3.6 stars. Overall, this has been a pleasant read although I was not convinced by the romantic relationship blooming between the protagonists, particularly on Nicolae's side. In the first third of the book, the writing had an almost lyrical note to it - a rare quality which I greatly admired, the plot keeping me interested until the end. Quite a few sensitive topics were nicely inserted and developed.

About the romance, I believe that Nicolae remained too aloof throughout the story and often seemed a bit self-righteous, testing Dustin to see if he had changed and was good enough to please Nicolae's standards. This left me feeling uneasy about the relationship dynamic and I saw little evidence of Nicolae's depth of emotion towards Justin - care, concern yes but not love. Nevertheless, a worthwhile read!

I read a lot of m/m fiction and for the most part, I am only looking for one thing so I was a little pensive when the theme of “getting to know the man before the cock” was brought up. That said, Înflori was an enjoyable read, which certainly did not skimp on passion!

Dustin seeks out Nicolæ, without the skills he has relied upon in the past; his body, his money; and begins a relationship through teasing and frustratingly tender encounters, all the while questioning his own worth in the eyes of a man who cannot physically “see” him.

I look forward to reading the companion pieces, Proteja and Lega and hope for more insight into Nicolæ, who just seems too good to be true!

Rated a high 4 out of 5 as I really liked it, but I am sure that the next book will be even better so I need some space to vote up!

I finished the book few days ago and still can't find the right words to give is justice. It was purely magical.
Sometimes a book just clicks with me. Every sentence resonate with me and I had to stop from time to time to read some passage again, because it's so real, so true and so beautiful. "Inflori" was such a book for me.
Shortly, it a romance between Dustin, who hides his emotional wounds behind a facade of hard party boy, and Nicolæ, who despite his blindness has a gift of seeing more than average person, but is confined by his cultural heritage. The book has a fair share of surprising twists and a touch of paranormal, but the love between two main characters never echoes a false note.

I enjoyed the book immensely and thought it was well written. However I was surprised when I searched for additional novels by A F Henley, that I could not find anything. I can only surmise that this is his first publication. Bravo, if my summation is correct, would have thought this to be a well seasoned writer. Look forward to future publications! Recommend it for a quick and easy read that is provocative and intriguing!

So much to love in this story that really caught me in its thralls.
I adore unpredictable dialogue, and this story has more than a few exchanges that leave you pondering their meaning.
The characters are varied and well-drawn and - sorry - but I've fallen for Jewel, whether he's wielding a beer bottle or a knife. He deserves some happiness. Please?
Most of all, though, this is a story of redemption... and for me it delivers.
Thanks for a lovely read!

The atmosphere within this book was so palpable, I could feel the constant tension with each word and the overlying darkness. Which was so wild because this was a story of coming to terms with your self and personal growth, but that mood that the author created was always there...I was always tense and waiting.

This story isn't for everyone, but I did enjoy it and the snapshot of Nicolae and Dustin that the story provided.

So, Sunday night, I sat down and brought up Inflori to read while I got some things installed and working on my computer. I figured I'd fill in around things I had to do.

That didn't work so well. Because before I knew what was going on, I was a third of the way through the book and I'd forgotten entirely about the things I was doing on the computer. I gave up on that and instead, simply enjoyed the book.

I actually found myself unsure about Dustin in the beginning, just as I was about Nicolae. Don't get me wrong, I adore both characters, but in the very beginning, I wasn't quite sure what I thought. But this was good, because it made me wonder why I felt this way. So, I read.

I found myself identifying with Dustin on something that also meant I was frustrated by Nicolae like Dustin was. It certainly drew me more thoroughly into the story and made me want to shake Nicolae to get him to stop being so damned cryptic and spell it out. I have to say that it is something that Nicolae should have had to work on a bit more. Because at times, he came across as a little to righteous because of it. He was always right and in the real world, that's just not how it works.

But the romance, in the end, was still very warming and I thoroughly enjoyed the secondary characters. Christine and Jewel nearly stole the show, in my not-so-humble opinion! And I absolutely love the little hint we get at the end.

If there was only one thing I wasn't really happy with, it's that I would have liked to see Nicolae's POV. I think that I might have liked him a lot better if I could have understood him more. I understand the narrow third person thing, but I honestly rarely like it and this was no exception. I like knowing both sides of the coin, understanding both characters as that makes me cheer for them much more readily to get together.

All in all, it was still a wonderful book and I am very glad to have spent the evening reading it!

3 1/2 STARS

So, this is a slightly depressing but hopeful tale of a boy who is in a path of self destruction. Dustin drinks too much and doesn't seem to care that his life is spiraling out of control. He had a messed up upbringing with his mother so I felt for the poor guy. Sometimes having money doesn't equal instant happiness.

I'm glad he met Nicolae, who isn't rich, but has family, friends and holds so much kindness. That kindness touches Dustin and helps him heal is wicked ways. Nic is also blind, but he has mysterious abilities that is just weird.

I gave this 3 1/2 cause I wasn't quite convinced that Nic and Dustin should have a romantic relationship. Idk, Nic was too perfect, too...idk. I liked the poetic writing style, but sometimes a strong friendship is better than lovers. Nic and Dustin should have been good friends. Friends can help each other heal, right?

Inflori is about two men. One who is used to an excessive lifestyle, and one who is a believer in kindness, zen sayings and the curative powers of tea. Dustin 'meets' Nicolae one day in the street, Nicolae talks about the sun shining, even behind clouds, and Dustin can't stop thinking about this strange, intriguing man that gave him something warm and encouraging on a hung-over, cloudy day.

This was a difficult read for me. I did finish it, but I found the whole 'gypsy' setting rather baffling, and it didn't really work for me.
I was going to give 2 stars, but thought perhaps 2.5 (=3) was fairer, and it is well written by A.F. Henley, but as I've said, the story just didn't do it for me.
I would read something else by this author, just to see if it was a fluke and the next book might be more to my taste.

This is a story about Dustin and Nicolae. Dustin is a wealthy mid twenties guy that has had a rough but privileged childhood into adulthood and because of that has decided he is better off with the playboy, party life style and has resigned himself to the fact that he won’t or doesn’t want to find that special someone. Nicolae, is a few years older and comes from a very different back ground. And he does believe in a great many things, including that special someone.
Dustin starts he’s morning on a down note, it’s raining his taxi is late and he’s once again sneaking out of a tricks house after a night of drinking and club hopping. As he standing waiting for the taxi an exotic man walks up and hands him a cup of hot tea and then walks away flanked by two dogs pushing against his legs. Days later Dustin can’t stop thinking about this beautiful man and decides to head back to the shop and see if he can find him. What he finds is himself, a family that is not friendly to outsiders and a man that is willing to take a chance on him if he is willing to let go.
WOW! This story was amazing, not just the connection between Dustin and Nicolae. The possessive way Nicolae is towards Dustin, HAWT. But also the connection between all the characters, you can feel the pain and anguish that Dustin is going through having to deal or not deal as the case may be with his past. And what it’s taking out of him mentally and physically. Nicolae make you believe. Jewel, being the Knight at the end, hope we get his story as well. Just a wonderful story of love, hope and forgiveness.

At the end of the day, I can only explain why the book rubbed me the wrong way and be as honest as possible, understanding that another reader may not have the same issues. I found Inflori to be rather trite and often at odds with its own message. The writing is fine. The characters are perfectly acceptable, though not very original, and there isn’t anything intrinsically wrong with the surface plot. So Inflori certainly doesn’t fall into the category of unreadable and the romance between Dustin and Nicolae is soulful and angsty, which is normally the stuff I love.
