Chris Sinclair broke Erica’s heart. The only woman he has ever loved. Since that awful moment he has spent every waking moment thinking about her and wishing he could have another chance.
Erica cannot forget the love she felt at the hands of Chris, but her memories are plagued by his betrayal after he took her innocence. When they meet again, the attraction is as strong as ever. But Erica refuses to give herself easily to the man who broke her heart.
When Chris’s father is rushed to the hospital, Erica and Chris learn how quickly life can change. Instead of dwelling on the past they move into a future together. But how long can they last? With Erica’s desires increasing, can she find it in her heart to completely trust Chris or will they be doomed to repeat the past?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
This is the story in a nut shell Hero Chris worked with heroine Erica almost 4 years ago. Then he takes her with him on a business trip and f*cks her. WHY you may ask, does he love her, is being around her daily too much for his growing attraction that he must have her? NOPE that's not it. She represents a challenge to him. No one in his office has been able to get into her panties so he has to be the first one to tap that! AHHH WHAT A DICK! So he comes back from a weekend for Free for all f*ck fest with the heroine and says: "You're not working here anymore. Go back downstairs. (MAIL ROOM) Your file has been updated with your demotion." And "You're got a lot to learn about men, baby. This weekend was a bit of fun. I wanted to see what you'd look like with your legs wrapped around me as I sank into you cunt. I got what I wanted, and now I'm done. Deal with it. I'm sure it won't be the last time you're used for pleasure." side note here He knows she was a virgin and she had feeling for him. Now you may ask; How did I finish this sh*t here? Well, I must say it was hard but what made up for this is the fact that DID NOT have sex with anyone since the heroine and he regretted his actions from almost the beginning. The hero has some confusing information about love and commitment based on his limited exposure to it. (Brothers and Father who to me are the worlds biggest DICKS ever). So after witnessing all this, I could understand his behavior here. Furthermore, I can't give a full 5 as the story was filled with too many secondary characters and we got very little story between the hero and heroine unless it was sex or their growing love of BDSM. But this book is light on that anyhow, Thank the Lord. Now the book ends with a nice epilogue. However, I was left wanting to know more about her older sister Elizabeth. Sadly the next book is about the hero's father David....NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Safety: no OW/OM drama (she has one moment with her gay guy friend but this does not count to me), no cheating, safe sex as he has always used condoms.
3.5** This is Chris and Erica's story. Two if my fav tropes, second chance at love and older man/ younger woman,24/40 years old. The story takes place 3 years after Chris and Erica had an erotic weekend together,Erica was a virgin. She was his PA on this weekend.Come Monday morning,Chris appears to have a change of heart and is especially cruel to Erica, telling her basically that she was a "lay" and other men would find her great and demotes her back to the mailroom.Chris, though he had feelings for her,did not trust in love as he saw how it destroyed his father with his mother when she died and how it is destroying his father's present marriage. His father thinks and tells his son's that Sinclair men only loves once. When Chris sees Erica again 3 years later,he is determined to win her back and claim his woman.Erica in the meantime has moved on and has a "boyfrien" Martin. Chris convinces Erica to go out to dinner with him,she confesses that Martin isn't really her boyfriend, but he does want to marry her. At this point, the book moves quickly and the couple tells each other they still love each other and Chris tells Erica that she has always been the one for him and during their separation,he was celibate. There is a health scare for the father, the heroine's sister who cannot read or write leaves their alcholic and abusive mother and moves into Erica's apt while she lives with Chris,Martin who is gay or bi,Erica who wants to try kink from the erotic novels that she reads and does not know how to approach Chris with her needs. When he finds her erotic novels with D/s ,he is on board cause he has a dark side that he thought was under control. All in all,a good, quick read ,but,I felt something was missing.I wanted more drama, some groveling on the hero's part would have been nice! I wished he was a bit more dominant and alpha instead of being so nice! And the heroine just gave in too quickly.
Both celibate during the separation even if the heroine messed with another man. The hero basically dates the heroine who is a lot younger than him until he manages to have sex with her, then being her boss, he demotes her and tells her it was a one time thing. Very, very classy. I puked a bit in my mouth. Years later he never forgot her and now he’s ready to make it up to her. She tried to move on and was almost accepting her boyfriend proposal, but, since said bf is gay and she still likes the hero a lot, she gives him a second chance. Well, this author doesn’t stand out for her deep inner thoughts and convoluted emotions. She writes about plain and simple people who are very plain and simple in their thoughts and actions. The hero wants her back because he realizes he made a huge mistake and the heroine accepts. Dot. So if this is not for you you’d better not read it. It was an ok reading for me, not something I will remember forever but not something I hated.
I'm still trying to figure out what i read. There was so many contradiction, unbelievable! Just one exemple : He knew she hold a lot in about her past and then , in the same page Even after the crap he'd said to her all that time ago, she still kept herself open like a book. o_O
- 10 stars! I will not even bother commenting on the fact that the author's men treated women as trash and the stupid ones forgive them in the blink of an eye, for that seems like a pattern to this author. What struck me was the story's inconsistency. How is it?! She aborts his son and he does not know about it? !! Why write about it, something so serious, to be simply left behind? !!! And yet she forgives because of what ?! From the guy's gold dick ?! And yes, I'm a masochist (and that's why I keep hoping with this author) and read the next book. If this is rubbish, the other one is even worse!
I loved the first book in this series, Blaze’s Second Chance. This one was no different. As with the first one, Taking His Woman is a second chance at love story. My favorite kind. As the title suggests, Chris Sinclair is taking back the heart that he broke when he scorned the love that Erica unselfishly gave to him.
Erica gave her innocence to Chris, a notorious playboy. Then, afraid of the powerful desire he feels for her, he pushes Erica out of his life by scoffing at her feelings. “It’s just sex”, he told her. Erica was horrified at the way he used her…so she ran. Yet, Chris never forgot the blazing passion they shared.
Despite his brutal betrayal, Erica has stayed true to Chris these last four years. Now, they are reunited and find that the old feelings are still there. After a bit of groveling they give in to those feelings and try to rebuild the relationship that Chris destroyed. But Chris has awakened a dark desire in Erica. A desire that she can’t ignore yet neither can she express to her lover.
I loved this book. I enjoyed how humble the once arrogant Alpha male was in his remorse. He was desperate to win back what he once threw away. Yet, the author never showed him as weak. Nor did Erica ask him to grovel. I liked that. She was a smart gal who saw her chance at the man she wanted. And she took it.
I enjoyed this steamy read. The sex was hot. But it was the fabulous characters and the second chance at love plot that made this book worth reading. Hey, my time is valuable so I’d rather not waste it on a story that’s just about sex. No worries about that with this book. Taking His Woman is a wonderfully tender story.
I’d recommend this book to everyone who likes a little romance with their smexy.
Honestly, I preferred Blaze's Second Chance to this one. But I loved Chris more than Blaze, though. Anyway, like the first book Taking his Woman was also about second chances - one of my favorite tropes!
Erica was helplessly in love with Chris and gave her innocence despite him being a notorious playboy. Chis was attracted to Erica but afraid of his growing feelings and the powerful desires he felt for her, so he dumped her and told her that it was just sex. After three years, they've met again, and he decided that this time, she was going to be his... forever.
It was fast and easy to read. Like Cassie, Erica knows what she wants and goes for it. As for Chris, I liked that he was willing to do everything to win her back. It was actually sweet. Plus, the sex was hot, passionate, and kinky. And the fact that he was celibate during their separation! The only thing that bothered me here was that Erica didn't mention her miscarriage to him. But anyway, I still enjoyed it, and I loved the little epilogue at the end!
Taking His Woman is book 2 in The Sinclair Men series. I did not read book one first and I will not be continuing on.
After finishing I went to back to look at the publishing date and thank goodness this is an earlier work of Sam Crescent (2012) because her writing has greatly improved in more recent years!
The writing and editing was choppy. The flow was not smooth, too many secondary characters overshadowing Chris and Erica’s story. Chris is a grade A asshole, Erica is a doormat virgin. The sex was good, the story was not.
Definitely check out some more of Sam's work, this does not reflect well on how well she has grown as an author!
The novel wasn't well written enough for me. It seemed a little bit cut and paste but ignoring all that, just focusing on the storyline and the characters I was really impressed by the relationships started there. I was also 'uber' exciting for the possibility of a third novel start dear Ben. I thought it all wrapped up really nice.
This was about second chances and people changing. I don't know that Chris changed so much as decided to be himself for a chance to win back Erica's heart and trust. A wonderful read that makes you feel all warm inside with a touch of naughty. Loving these Sinclair men. Bring on number three !!
As soon as I finished the first book, Blaze’s Second Chance, immediately download the second book, Taking His Women. And I wasn’t disappointed. As with the first book, I enjoyed the angst free second chance story line. Again, this was a short, fun and super sexy read.
The only drawback this book had, in my opinion, the editing department needs a Second Chance to re-exam their work. Shame on you for allowing a good story to be riddled with simple mistakes.
But, because I so enjoyed the storyline it's self, I still gave it 4 stars.
With that said, I would still recommend this book, they tender, second chance love story was worth it.
I am now waiting for the third book in this series. Hoping it will be out
I read the first book in The Sinclair Men series and really liked the storyline, but the grammar mistakes and inconsistencies threw me off. I decided to give the second book a chance because I really like this author. I am glad I did. The grammar was much better in this one and I didn’t notice any inconsistencies either. I did fell it could’ve flowed a little better in certain parts, but other than being a little stilted it was a good book. I really liked it.
The angst was sewn up a bit to easily for me. The hero was a pretty big jerk to the heroine but felt perfectly entitled to "his woman" regardless. The chubby bit was pretty incidental.
This was a really good book. I am enjoying this series. I like that we get to see people from the previous book and hopefully people from the next book.
