Although this book sound like a real chick lit in all it's glory, it's so much more then that.
I feel like I expected nothing but entertaintment from this story, but got so much from it.

Everything that happened in this book, all those little silly things and all those situations that were so easy to judge, they all happened for a reason.

There were no black and white characters, only grey.
With all their flaws and reasons behind them, they opened my eyes and made me think about what makes people behaving a certain way.

It is so easy to be judgamental when it's other people lives we're talking about!

With it's brilliant writing style and amazing setting (I liked New York the best), Christmas At Tiffany's is a book every women's fiction lover should read.

5 "Yours if you want it" stars!

Christmas at Tiffany’s is an absolutely wonderful story, and even though chick-lit isn’t my genre of choice, this book had me laughing, sighing, and wishing it would never end! No, seriously… I did not want this story to end!

Blurb…
Three cities. Three seasons. One chance to find the life that fits.

Cassie settled down too young, marrying her first serious boyfriend. Now, ten years later, she is betrayed and broken. With her marriage in tatters and no career or home of her own, she needs to work out where she belongs in the world and who she really is.

So begins a year-long trial as Cassie leaves her sheltered life in rural Scotland to stay with each of her best friends in the most glamorous cities in the world: New York, Paris and London. Exchanging grouse moor and mousy hair for low-carb diets and high-end highlights, Cassie tries on each city for size as she attempts to track down the life she was supposed to have been leading, and with it, the man who was supposed to love her all along.
My thoughts…

I can’t put my finger on what makes this story so perfect, and I think that’s because Christmas at Tiffany’s has it all – poignancy, great friends who’ll see you through the rough times without coddling you, romance, passion, and true love. Honestly, start to finish I was totally drawn into Cassie’s world, cheering her on as she left her past in the past to focus on the future and discover who she was really meant to be.

One of the very best things about this story is that it spans a full year, each friend taking Cassie into their home and giving her the chance to experience life in ways she’d never otherwise been able to. Because of this, there was no single “ah-ha!” moment in Cassie’s journey. Instead, there were several life defining moments, and I love the way those moments came to be – each an eye-opening experience, a lesson learned, and sometimes a heart broken.

Luke, Claude, and Henry… I loved them, hated them, loved them, hated them… but because they each played a very important role in Cassie’s… awakening…I wouldn’t change a single thing about them or their relationships with her. It’s an incredibly romantic and passionate story, even though there are no explicit sex scenes.

I’ve read a couple of reviews in which people have said that they feel the title, Christmas at Tiffany’s is misleading - perhaps because the story unfolds over the course of a year. I don’t really understand that at all because two of the sweetest, most romantic scenes take place during Christmas, and at Tiffany’s… and in my opinion, this story couldn’t have been more aptly titled.

And I’m going to stop now because truly, there’s really nothing I can say – no words I can come up with that will capture the emotions I felt while reading this story, and how happy I am that I did. Being chick-lit this would have never made it on my radar, and what a horrible loss that would have been.

To Maria Silva at HarperCollins who sent Christmas at Tiffany’s and asked me to take a peek, to give it a chance… thank you. Sincerely, thank you!

Christmas at Tiffany's by Karen Swan, the first one in the trilogy where we see Cassie, who finds out at her 10th wedding anniversary that her godson is the love child of her husband and her best friend.

Since her life's always been shattered, she decides to leave behind everything for the time being and focus on finding her true self and the person she truly is, which was somewhere lost when she married too young.

One year, three cities and one friend each to guide her through. London, Paris, New York. The story is set across a year and at these three places were Cassie meets not only her friends but also some great men whom she and I both won't be forgetting 😂

Henry, Claude & Luke, she meets each one of them in due course of time in her life and each one helps her guide through her life. Finally the ending was very sweet and loved her friends Kelly, Anouk and Suzy.

The book offers so much - friendships, love, self-love, finding true self, discovering YOU, family, travel, exploring, etc. A very sweet and heartwarming read for me. Although since it's spread across a year's time it may get a little boring in the between but rest is fine.

Cassie married at an incredibly young age, at only twenty years old, to an older man and her first love. She never got to experience life or travel the world but she was content and satisfied with her life despite all that. After discovering that Gil, her husband of ten years, had betrayed her, Cassie leaves immediately and doesn’t look back. She devotes the next year of her life to doing what she never did before: discovering who she is and what she wants out of this life to make her truly happy.

I could go into some serious detail about this book but it’s all Spoiler-ville and it’s one of those stories that you definitely need to experience firsthand. And what a wonderful experience it was. I’ve been in dire need of satisfying this deep-seated craving for a fluffy read for months now (especially after the 13 horror novels in a row I read for October). Suffice it to say, Christmas at Tiffany’s satisfied my craving completely leaving me with the goofiest grin on my face, all sorts of feels and looking incredibly similar to Sally:

Christmas at Tiffany’s is primarily about Cassie and the dissolution of her marriage, however, even though she’s the main focus there was still the most amazing cast of characters with their own stories as well. Between her trips to New York, Paris and finally London she meets all sorts of new people that color her life and make her realize how much she’s been missing all this time. Cassie was my absolute favorite though and her story was one of heartbreak and I so loved to see her transform and overcome it all.

Don’t let its massive size put you off because this is one story you will not want to have end. Any book that can keep me completely wrapped up and absorbed for 580 pages, STILL leave me wanting more and even make me want to start it all over as soon as I read the final page is certainly impressive. Also, sure, it’s chicklit or contemporary romance or whatever you want to call it, so it was slightly predictable and cliché. (I mean seriously, I wish I had fancy rich friends I was just able to crash with for 4 months at a time in different glamorous cities around the world.) You know pretty much from the get-go who she’s going to end up with but the pages in-between that happening were far from being mere filler. This wasn’t just a story about finding love again, it was about living life and learning from your experiences. It was about finding new passions, about truly opening your eyes to everything and exploring this wonderful world we live in. It was all the things. *sigh* And I’ve just decided this gets the full 5 star rating from me. This was such an incredibly feel-good book that has left such a lasting impression on me I can’t seem to think of anything else. If you’re a fan of the genre, this is an absolute must read. I can’t recommend this one enough.

I received this book free from the Publisher, TLC Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Trigger warning: Suicide

I dithered about giving this four stars, but honestly, the final third of the book fell apart a bit for me and I ended up giving this three stars.

"Christmas at Tiffany's" has Cassie ready to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband Gil. Her school friends, Kelly, Anouk, and Suzy come to Scotland to celebrate with Cassie. Cassie feels out of step with her friends since she spends most of her days/nights alone while her husband works several hours away and she sees to their estate. When she goes to say hello to her best friend/neighbor she finds out that everything she thought was true about her marriage is a lie. Barely stopping to pack, Cassie flees and her three friends decide she will spend the next year living with them why she gets back on her feet.

Cassie's first stop will be New York with Kelly, then Paris with Anouk, and finally London with Suzy.

So the book is broken up in essence in three main parts. I think my favorite has to be Cassie/Kelly in New York. That said, I still want to go to Paris the most after finishing this book. I think Swan did a great job showing Cassie still trying to find her feet and Kelly doing what she could to take care of her. Also, can I say that Cassie's friends kick ass? They all found her work to do and put her up for 4 months each. I love my friends, but I start getting antsy when they have been there past 3 days.

I will say that at times I didn't like Cassie. She felt a bit too indecisive for me. She really was letting a lot of people walk all over her with her going that's just the way she is. I wanted to say, yes, you're a doormat. I wouldn't have minded so much, but it felt like she always needed someone to stand up for her whether it be her friends, or her friend's younger brother Henry.

I also hard cringed about Cassie ruining Kelly's business. I felt that was hand-waved away honestly. Kelly obviously has some feelings about it, but it's not really discussed between them that much.

My least favorite part of the book was Paris. Yes I know I said I loved the city, and yes Swan makes it come alive. But she had some of the worst characters show up in the book during Cassie's months in Paris. I didn't like Anouk and thought a reveal came right out nowhere. I hated that a suicide was shown in a book tagged as holiday romance (I am so glad I did not read this around Christmas). And I felt like Cassie gave up on her dreams way too easily after Paris and there are some loose threads that I still don't know how they got resolved.

I was okay towards the London portion. Suzy is laidback and fun. I do think that this portion was more rushed than anything. We have Cassie finding out the truth some more about someone close to her and I went bah towards the whole thing. Sorry, the hero sucked (IMHO).

I was meh about all of the love interests. I wish at the end of the year she went traveling somewhere else and or settled in a final location embarking on a new job.

I did enjoy the writing though I think that Paris could have been edited down a bit. The flow was up and down the most in that section though it was really good in the New York and London bits.

The settings were so well done. I now know why this book was over 500 pages long. Swan takes a very long time (happily) describing the in and outs of New York, Paris, and London. This book made me long to see Paris, though not to get involved with any man while there since the author shows the residents hard shrugging about affairs. Swan does a great job in all three settings also changing up Cassie a bit so that she gets a makeover that reflects the cities she is living in at that time. I did have to laugh though about Cassie going from blonde to brunette and back to blonde again.

The ending was okay, I just don't know how believable I found it to be. We have Cassie somewhat on her way to a happy ending and we get to check in with all of her friends and their husbands/partners too which I liked. I wish that Swan had just had all of the women back together catching up with each other without the men there, but it's fine.

I started reading this book thinking it was going to be a perfect December read and all Christmassy and snowy themed, to help make me feel all festive. So I was a tad surprised to discover that, despite the books title and aside from a few pages, this was more of a general chick lit/romance book.
In saying that it was a nice fluffy read - sugary sweet like a box of Roses chocolates - surprisingly it was also imbued with intelligence and well crafted writing and a step above a lot of other books in this genre.
However, without giving anyway any spoilers, I found one major storyline to be a bit hypocritical and strange, particularly after Cassie had been the woman on the receiving end of what she is seemingly about to inflict on another woman. Apart from this one side of the story, which went against Cassie's seemingly ms perfect morals, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and give it 3.5 stars (seeing as you can't award half points on good reads).

Knyga man labai patiko, sužavėjo, rekomenduoju ❤️

Cassie has been married for ten years living in Scotland with Gil her husband. On there tenth anniversary she finds out a secret that one of her friends already knew.

Now in New York for the first season with her friend Kelly. I find myself only being interested in the sights and Henry. I love Henry's notes to do in the city.

Next is Paris for the next four months this was my favourite section. Henry's lists again were a highlight and I loved Claude it was so sad what happened to him.

Lastly is London with Susy I like this friend of hers. The problem for me here is it took such a long time of back and forth for Cassie to realise who really loved her.

I'm interested to read book 2 as I feel it will be more about Cassie and Henry. I did think this book was really good in parts but too long in others. 3.5 Stars

This is the first time I have found a book that I absolutely could not finish. After browsing over reviews, the book was pretty hyped to be a good one. I guess I must be missing something, because I was terribly bored with this novel.

Cassie finds out that her best friend of 10 years had a child with her husband. How this even happened without her noticing or seeing some sort of similarities between the child and her husband is beyond me.

Anyway, her best friends from childhood take her in their own hands. Basically, each friend tries to change her to be them. The whole idea was very weird. The best friends discussed this like she was a child.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I admit that I picked up this book on a dare, which was to read lots of Christmas themed books all through December, even if they contained – *shudder* - romance. And found that my library hold took until now to come through! Even though this gave me a good excuse to abandon the project, my travel deprived self was too intrigued by the three different armchair travel locations in this book not to give it a go.

If you are put off by the schmaltzy cover or title, don’t worry, because a) the story takes part over a whole year and Christmas is only part of one chapter or so; and b) the story is more about self-discovery than a steamy romance. Phew! So despite my misgivings, this turned out to be a fun, escapist read that swept me away in its wake as our main character Cassie, heart-broken after her husband’s terrible betrayal, embarks on an eat-pray-love like journey of self discovery. Having vowed to divide a whole year between the homes of her three best friends, i.e. in New York, Paris and London, Cassie gets to reinvent herself in every new city she visits. Until of course, she finally finds out what she wanted all along (so there came the romancy part).

I love stories that centre around characters who get to reinvent themselves and experiment with different lifestyles and different selves. Don’t we all? It’s such a fun concept to be able to shrug off your old self and your baggage and just embark on a completely new adventure. And of course here we have the additional bonus of armchair travel, to three exciting cities, which made it irresistible to me (oh how I miss travel!!!!).

CHRISTMAS AT TIFFANY’S was a fun, escapist read I found I really enjoyed, despite all my initial misgivings about the romance. And if you are concerned that this is just a fluffy read, then be assured that Swan doesn’t let her characters off scott free: on her journey to self discovery, Cassie has some adversity to overcome. Brimming with intriguing characters and exciting scenery, this was a romp of a read I fully recommend to anyone who needs a nice escape from real life for a while.

Oh my. I've just stayed up way past my bedtime because I had to finish this book. From the cover and synopsis, I'd expected a light hearted, fun story. It was so much more. For basically the entire last third of the book, this was me:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Honestly, I went from laughing to crying to smiling to crying again every 5 minutes. I'm sure I looked insane. I don't want to spoil any of the plot points as I think that'd take a lot from the story, but unless I'm just being a cry baby, have tissues at hand. I don't think the fact I was reading the book to really powerful classical music helped matters. Anyway, like I said, I wont delve into the plot as it would end up being spoiler central. But I'll say the fact the book was set in three different places helped keep the story fresh and never dull. I think fashion fans would probably find the locations, especially New York, more exciting than me. I'm not a high fashion girl at all. I'd much rather stay in my pjs playing video games than read fashion magazines or pine over designer jeans. So I imagine if you're into that sort of stuff, you might enjoy the career aspects of the book. Which leads me into how annoying some of the side characters could be. The way certain people behave when Cassie's working in New York left me
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Luckily, Cassie seemed to share my views most of the time. Now Cassie. Oh Cassie, how I love her. There were some other great characters, including Claude
but Cassie was my favourite. I could relate to her so much, and a lot of the time she said exactly what I'd be thinking in a situation. She was sweet, kind but not perfect. She could be too easily controlled by others, but being like that myself, I could understand why she acted like that. But she could also be snarky and hilarious, like here:
'Let's eat. I want to take you out.'
'I want to take you out too...with an AK-47.'

Also, Bas!! Omg I want him to be my best friend!

The writing was good. I think the description was great and Karen Swan did a brilliant job of using detail without stretching things out.

I'm trying to think of downsides to the book, but it's a bit of a struggle. I guess it was a little predictable, but there were enough twists and turns to keep me engaged. Some of the characters weren't the most lovable and there were times when I wanted to strangle certain ones, but it was still definitely a heart warming story and it didn't leave me angry in any way. I guess I could say the title and cover is mis-leading? Don't expect a snowy Christmas story. Only a small fraction of the book centres around Christmas. But that's it really. If you enjoy romance (and it was GOOD romance that actually had me craving more. It was just the ticket after some disappointing romances lately), the testing of friendships, funny moments and beautiful locations, you should definitely give this book a try!

I give it a 4.5/5!

I’ve just finished reading Christmas as Tiffany’s by Karen Swan and I have to say I absolutely loved it!!!
The story tells of Cassie, who married young at 20 and then 10 years later finds that her marriage wasn’t what she thought it was as her husband has betrayed her. She leaves and puts herself in the hands of her 3 best friends and stays with each of them in turn in New York, Paris and London. In each city she is reinvented and changed by the experiences she has there. Although it is called Christmas at Tiffany’s, this is not a Christmassey book.
It is a fantastic read. The descriptions of each city and the things Cassie gets up to are great. She has an attractive boyfriend, fantastic jobs in the world of fashion, a blast from the past, makes new friendships and travels the world. There is happiness, sorrow, tears, friendship and love. I won’t give too much away but Cassie’s story has a happy ending. I like to think that I can usually see plots twist and turns but there were some twists that I didn’t see coming!

Klare Leseempfehlung an alle Romantiker da draußen.

O dabar laukia istorijos tęsinys Vasara Kornvalyje dalyje.

As seen on my blog:

2.5 STARS
I'm not a huge fan of name, and/or label, dropping in books. It cheapens the narrative, and makes my skin itch from superficial ridiculousness. Christmas at Tiffany's was full of it. Filled to the brim. I kept trying to concentrate on the deeper message of 'truly finding yourself' after you've experienced trauma, but I just kept getting distracted by the primping and preening. I can't count the amount of times I eye-rolled at the references made to guys 'checking out' Cassie and her 'long legs.' I sound bitter, but I just can't stand it when an author consistently attempts to drill into a reader's head just how 'attractive' her character is-once is enough for me to get it.

Qualms aside, Christmas at Tiffany's was a fast, entertaining read. It was a 'how to spend a rainy afternoon' type of narrative. The scenery in this book was the star pupil, the way Karen Swan seemed to capture the true essence of New York, Paris, and London. If anything, she made me want to blow my savings on a round trip to all three cities. I stopped focusing on Cassie's personal and romantic life, and began to focus on the effects that each city had on her well-being. I didn't care for her fantastic physical transformation, and wish that the narrative didn't spend so much time emphasizing that. I figured out very early on who her true romantic match would end up being, so it was more exhausting than anything else to have to sit through multiple 'hook-ups' with random men.

Christmas at Tiffany's is a massive tome of a book, which wasn't off-putting in the least once you actually started reading it. I want to say that it could have been about 150 pages shorter, but I respect that the author didn't elaborate too much on any one particular moment. It was an interesting technique, used especially well in, and after, the opening scene. A huge twist is revealed, and becomes the catalyst for the remainder of the novel, but it wasn't dragged on, and you don't even really understand what's going on until Cassie has already moved on to the next chapter in her life. I must admit, it was one of the hardest hitting revelations I've read in a 'chick-lit' book, and written very well.

This novel would definitely make a terrific gift/suggestion for the people in your life that enjoy Lifetime Movie Specials, or books centered around the holiday season. And that cover would look fabulous sticking out of a stocking!

Christmas at Tiffany's

Perché nascondere i proprio sentimenti?
