New Orleans coven leader, Jade Calhoun, is embarking on a Hellish mission. Literally. A week ago her ex sacrificed himself to Hell in order to save Jade’s mother. While he suffers, Jade will stop at nothing to bring him home…even if it means working with Lailah, an angel she’s never trusted.
But the stakes are raised when Jade discovers her boyfriend, Kane, is marked by a demon. The very same one who tried seducing him right before Jade’s eyes. Now Kane’s life is on the line, and consequently, Jade’s soul is compromised. She’ll need all the help she can get, including Lailah’s, as she fights her way through Hell to save her ex and Kane—and her entire existence.

Demons on Bourbon Street By Deanna Chase This book deals with demons and angels. Someone Jade has lost is found. A demon becomes an angel. Jade almost gets the death penalty by angels. Always something crazy going on!
Man, another attack on the emotions. Deanna Chase sure knows how to draw you in and make you feel the characters. I thought every time Jade was going through pain I could feel it too. By the time I finished the book I was so keyed up from the events that had taken place I had hard a time sleeping, lol.
I didn't know which way the book was going to go!! Really glad that I finally took the time to read this little series, I would been having missing out on a really good story. The writing is great, the detail that is put into this book makes you feel like you are in it. Again, Jade found her way under my skin a few times with her pain in the ass not listening mode...lol, but I was able to avoid yelling at her this book!
I hope book 4 comes out soon I really want to keep reading the stories b/w all the characters. I will be sad when it ends. Another thing I like about the books, unlike most series, there is not really a cliffhanger at the end, so you could finish reading the book and feel like there isn't anything you missed and that you could move onto a new book. Cliffhangers drive me nuts! I enjoy series where each book has an ending but continues on in the next book with out really being interrupted.
While I did continue reading the series (and plan to read more) I figured out what feels off about it. I don't really like the lead character. She's stubborn and it seems like everyone's life revolves around her. In other books where some super-powerful witch or whatever is highlighted.. the characters work with her but their lives aren't devoted to her like some whackadoodle cult.
So all her friends/family/etc seem to breathe for her she seems kind of whiney and unappreciative.
In fairness, the adventures in the books are pretty good. I like the angel characters. The books aren't expensive and worth a try.
A good continuation of the series but the 'resolution' to the problem...kinda drawn out and I either was too tired to understand or it wasn't made clearly WHAT exactly happened. I can't say much more without spoiling. Still a good read, I just didn't like the resolution. I think Meri should have "got hers" instead of what actually happened....and why did it have to go to that long drawn out event...isn't that something they could have done themselves? I don't know. I do love this series--the characters are very likable--but I just didn't LOVE this book as much as the other two. Perhaps the next one ('Angels of Bourbon Street'?) will help explain more and things will be more clear. :)
Is it possible for third book in series to be even better than previous two? With this book The answer is yes! This book was, in fact insanely good. It kept me guessing all the way through with a couple jaw dropping moments.
Jade barely has had time to recover from her last two crazy, life altering experiences(ghosts then witches) then she has to go to Hell to save a friend but to complicate matters, Zane needs help too.
I swear this was a crazy ride from start to finish. I am so glad I read this series and can't wait for the next book, Angel 's of Bourbon Street. If you haven't read this series, I hate to sound like a broken record but you really should.
As the series progresses the author is growing in her confidence with writing. Maybe the story is flowing easier. I still feel there is a big rush and not enough background. Now there is the potential for too many characters to have spinoff stories or series without giving full details with the original characters. Definitely still needs some work on character development and maybe show some less dramatic moments.
not a fan of the angels haven't been the entire series - still don't like kanes ex her name escapes me at this point (leah i think) i've loved LOVED the series so far and even though there were good bits in the book it was much harder for me to read than the previous books her mum being a reason, the angels and their shit, her relationship with kane and her friends seemed non existant and her empath abilities (the main reason i got into the series being an empath myself) were like barely used and instead she was basically all witch even though shea supposed to depise magic and only use it if she has no other option and even then... shes not overjoyed about it sure she's grown but this was a total 180 and the cherry on top SPOILER SPOILER seriously end of book spoiler
... being she loses her empathy all together which honestly if i had the physical book and not an ebook i would've thrown it - hard. sure she got engaged but i mean it wasn't that amazing and felt out of place even though it served as a "device" and they love eachother etc it felt to convienient and i don't think being engaged meant she would suddenly be able to keep her soul compared to before being engaged he could've juat made clear his future intentions i mean he's had the ring basically since he met her and he chose then? anyway i read the next books description and i'm not jumping to read it it just feels all drama for the sake of it... and without her being an empath just makes me less inclined so odds are i'll skip the next book or just flick through and read a bit from the major scenes. i've done this with other series i've loved such as skipping rogue wolf by jc diem because it was just unnecessary filler book. like episodes that are in tv shows that serve no real purpose other than to drag out drama that ends up being annoying to watch and 'magically' solved when the real storyline starts. love the series love the author but this book and the next aren't what i enjoy from her writing. usually her books go straight to my favourites with minimum 4 star but 3 star is still solid so unless i dislike or hate the book 3 star is my average rating a bit of a "it was okay had enjoyable moments but overall meh" won't be a reread.
This review is for both the ebook and the audiobook because I have both and read parts and listened to part. This is my favorite book in this series so far now. Things were really intense all the way through. I had gut wrenching sorrow and anger at Mary. I don't want to spoil it but I will say, while I wasn't completely happy with the way it ended, I was satisfied. I'm curious how things go in the next books after reading all the Pyper books and knowing how Jade is in the future.
I absolutely loved how Jade has grown into her powers and her really owning her witch ability. A lot of stuff was happening in this book. It was also so wonderful to watch her and Kane's love grow.
This is the most wonderful narrator. It was like she was telling the story, not reading it. She's a natural with a nice voice.
I really wish they would make this into a tv series.
The third book in this series starts off where book two (Witches of Bourbon Street) finished. Jade Calhoun, the New Orleans Coven Leader has another mission to save her ex-boyfriend (Dan) after he offered his soul to the Demon Meri. When things cannot get any worse, she discovers that the man she loves (Kane) has also marked by the same demon, after he was trapped in Purgatory.
Following a trip to Idaho to meet with Dan’s mother and the ‘psychic’ that put Dan on the path he chose (read book two!), a secret is revealed – the paternity of Dan’s true father. Jade is to seek him out in order to reach into the depths of hell, to release Dan after he sacrificed himself for her mother.
With Kane slowly deteriorating, and the demon Meri siphoning her soul, Jade finds her trust in Lailah (despite their controversial history) and together with her friends and the coven, embarks on a mission to save her ex, the man she loves and her soul.
I enjoyed the book but jeez, did it have to end the way it did? I was feeling Jade’s emotions when she met with the Angel Council and with everything she went through during the trial. I became angry and kept putting my book down only to pick it back up five minutes later to continue the read! It frustrated the hell out of me (no pun intended).
I am really hoping Angels of Bourbon Street will right the wrongs of Jade’s sole existence (please)!
Demons of Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase is a 2013 Bayou Moon publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This third installment in the Jade Calhoun series blast out of the canon at full speed with emotions bouncing around like a fart in a mitten. At the end of book two, Jade's mother was saved but Dan made the ultimate sacrifice to make that happen. Now Dan is, shall we say, not a in a very good place right now. Jade is determined to rescue her old friend despite all the water under the bridge between them. As the story opens Jade finds herself forced into a situation she is ill prepared for and no time to take a crash course. This is life and death, because Jade's vert soul is on the line. To make matters more miserable, Jade's mind is connected to the angel Lailah, someone she isn't all that fond of due to her past with Kane. But, it's necessary for them to work together so she is stuck with her. But, things will get a whole lot worse before they get better.... if they get better.
Tension, magic, angels and demons, shocking revelations and secrets of the past all combine for one whale of roller coaster ride. As they say, fasten your seat belts. With each book this series gets better. This was a really absorbing story with a very tense climax. There will be aftershocks from this one I am sure. But, there was a really special ending I know everyone will be happy about. 4.5 rounded to 5 for this one.
Jade's in trouble up to her neck in this third installment of The Bourbon Street series.
She's dealing with an angel she doesn't trust, her boyfriend is marked by a demon, her coven mistrusts her and she has to save her ex from the pits of hell.
During all of this she is still learning to harness her power and be the head of the coven to boot. Add in a couple more angels, a kidnapping and an angel council set on taking her soul and giving it to a demon and all you can think of is what's next?
This series is gripping and held my attention all the way through. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat while the emotions invoked had me close to tears. I look forward to reading more of Jades story as I feel like the characters are now family.
I will definitely be reading more from Deanna Chase.
So I'm a third of the way through the last story and there are some things that I'm having trouble digesting:
1). Why did Kat and Dan end up in foster care when all three of them were teens?
2). What the frap is so special about Jade that mostly everyone just has nothing but love for her? I mean c'mon, these are people she's known for 4 months and, they've been kidnapped and tortured by a ghost and literally sent to Hell, and yet they're willing to jump through hoops every time to help her
3). Her attitude towards her mother at the beginning. Her mom is back after 12 years and yet she feels the need to be snarky and rude because her mom isn't used to Jade being an adult? Puh-leese!
Can't wait to see how this story pans out.
**UPDATE 3/13/13**
Just finished and while I liked this story, there are still a few things that were never really answered that bother me: who was the all-powerful angel that showed up during the hearing? whatever happened with Philip after the hearing was over? The last 12 years of Jade's life had been the disappearance of her mother, yet she was hardly part of the story? Why was Kat somewhat angry with Jade and Kane getting engaged? What happened with Dan? So many questions, so few answers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Disappointing. Situations and character motivations didn't make sense to me. If this depiction of angels were true there'd be a lot more atheists in the world.
Jade's magic usually had consequences. Her empathic abilities were right on. Her love for Kane was real. She'd gone through a lot of situations in her life. Losing her mom when she was a young teen, finding out ten years later she'd been in purgatory all that time through no fault of her own--well, at least she was back now. Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend had saved her by substituting himself. Now Jade had to save him.
This one has lots of bad guys, good guys doing some not so good things, loyal friends and family, angels and .... way too many to mention. Lots of good and evil going on. To save Kane, her current and forever love, is in danger. Jade's soul is in danger. Still, she'll risk herself to save her past and present loves. Plan for dangerous journies and I don't mean to another city or state or even country. The red-eye takes on new meaning for these trips.
A compelling story of good and evil and finding a way back. You won't want to stop reading until it is done and then you'll just want more.
•••NOT for the homophobic, transphobic, closedminded or faint of heart!
This series must be read in order. This is the third book. I can't wait to read "Angels Of Bourbon Street"!
Jade is suffering more than she ever thought she could. She's is literally him a battle for her own soul. This shouldn't be happening! How can Meri have stolen part of her soul? Can she get it back and make herself whole again? Will she die and lose everything she has worked so hard for? How will she get out of this mess?
I was so pissed off on Jade's behalf throughout this book. Oh how everyone infuriated me! The outcome was was not satisfying I guess that makes me a terrible person but i dont care cause what's mine, is mine. You'll understand what I mean when you get to the end of book. I'm tried of Jade being the bigger person in these crappy situations, I need my sis to give everyone the middle finger and lookout for herself and stop trying to save every freaking one.
Jade is trying to save Kane who got injured while helping her get out of a demon dimension. But while she is trying to do that it seems Mary got some of her soul and now she has to fight to keep her soul. She has to deal with Angels and Witches and just wants to keep her soul. Her relationship with Kane is developing nicely. I wasn't sure I was enjoying this book until approximately 3/4 the way through it then I could not put it down.
This third book in the Jade Calhoun series was a fine continuation of the story. After fighting off a demon. Meri, it is discovered that Jade and Meri now skate a special link; Meri is solving off Jade's power and soul. Chase has done a fine job keeping the storyline flowing smoothly, and her characters continue to become more fleshed out and empathetic with every book.
Demons of Bourbon Street (The Jade Calhoun Series Book 4)
Jade has a half soul and ghost is after her. The ghost is using sex to get what she want. To save Jade, she need her parents to give her half their soul. Her mother holds the secret to were her father is and who her father is. Great syory.
I found this one both too fast and too slow at the same time. Also, I'm not a fan of the "Angles" because when you think about it, they are just as bad a humans or demons but way more high & mighty. I got the first 3 books as a boxed set on Amazon, so unless my library has the following books, I may or may not continue this series.
Plenty of twists, turns and fingernail biting/edge of your seat moments in this book. I love Deanna's writing style. I want to read her books as fast as I can so I can find out what happens but then I'm sad cos the story is over. It's great that there are more books in the series.
This book cycled me through just about every emotion possible. I am blissfully wrung out yet craving the next one. Deanna Chase has made me a Jade Junky and I have no regrets.
I love these characters. I think this author is incredibly gifted at developing characters, environments, and storylines. The ending of this story left me torn. But I am anxious to read the next book and see how this development works out.
This was a good 3 book of the series. But I have to say it did not keep my attention and had some long parts in it where I had to push myself to keep reading. It was good and glad I finished it.
