FBI Agent in Training Lucy Kincaid and her boyfriend Sean Rogan, private investigator, are at a camping getaway for a short weekend in Shenandoah National Park. He wanted this alone time together since she’s been away at training. Things are going well until they hear voices arguing and branch out to explore, finding a couple whose son is missing. All Sean’s instincts tell him something is not quite right as they join them in their search. He was right to trust his feelings.
Lucy and Sean can’t seem to have a problem-free vacation and this one is no different. I, too, shared Sean’s uneasiness but still was surprised at what later unfolded. For a short story, this covered a lot of ground with lots of twists and turns I never had time to anticipate. The tension was always high as things get serious and dangerous. It was a very exciting experience.
This was a really good story I found difficult to put down. Aside from it becoming rather routine that these two can’t go on vacation and return rested and unscathed, there was nothing predictable about it. Nicely done.

I love this series. A nice short story with a good plot. Lucy and Sean find trouble everywhere and this time it's not their fault. Although they were voluntarily camping in the woods in a tent. So !maybe it is their fault 😊 On to the next!

Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are unable to stay out of trouble, even when they are on vacation. Lucy has a long weekend from the FBI Academy and Sean decides to take her on a camping trip. This trip turns into a disaster when a boy becomes lost and the search for him uncovers a much more sinister operation.
This was a quick intense story. Lucy is able to keep her emotions in check, but I admired the way she handled the young boy in the story and how she made sure he was safe. She really would make a great mom. I also noticed that Sean didn’t try to shelter and protect her as much as he usually does. He seems to be starting to understand that she can take care of herself. Now, if the FBI and Noah would figure out that she is a good agent, we’ll be all set.

Lucy and Sean just can't seem to find a way to escape a mystery, even camping in the middle of a National Forest! When they come across a couple whose 9-year old son has run away, Sean and Lucy are compelled to help find the boy. Unfortunately, the situation is not at all what it seems and Sean and Lucy are drawn into yet another deadly situation.
I like novellas. The action is fast and the plot is tight. I can accept that because of the length there is not a lot of plot or character development, but I'm ok with that. This one was fast paced, start to finish and I really liked it.

FBI Trainee Lucy Kincaid and her boyfriend, Sean Rogan, are on a weekend camping trip when they hear people arguing in the woods. They decide to check it out and find a camp with a couple who say their nine-year-old son, Micah, ran away from them a few hours ago. They have searched the vicinity and can't find him. Lucy and Sean are concerned. The nights are cold and Micah only had a thin jacket. As they talk to Ann and Jeff about their son, they come to the conclusion that the couple is not telling them everything.
This is a short story in the Lucy Kincaid series, but it could be read as a standalone. Ann and Jeff were very cagey about what happened to their son. I could understand Lucy and Sean being very wary of them. This was a nice addition to the series. My rating: 4 Stars.

Lots of action in this novella. Lucy and Sean show how effective they are as a fighting team even if this was supposed to be a romantic camping getaway.
Brennan stretches my "seriously?" plot hole meter by allowing her well trained protagonists to wander off separately with (bad guy) strangers along with overall bad decision making. What are they teaching in FBI school these days?
Lots of action does not always make for great read. This one was an eye roller.

A good quick story. Good outcome with the kids. I think the only person 25 years old that has been more successful than Lucy is the main character from Fifty Shades of Grey.

I think it is difficult to have a novella get a very high rating: there just wasn't time for anything to happen in the overall story world. Of course, we come to expect Lucy to have troubles wherever she goes, which is getting a bit tired (for me) in this series. I hope we get let dramatics on that score and move into actual romantic suspense....

Lucy and Sean are taking a camping vacation before Lucy heads back to more FBI training camp. Just so happens, their neighbors in the woods are looking for a lost 9 year old son - but we know that the mystery is just starting. Throw in some meth cookers, and the recipe just got dangerous.

Book per se wasn't enthralling, however I really didn't mind sitting for 2 hours to finish this 100 page book. The book started out with Lucy and Sean's escapade into the woods. The protagonist Lucy happens to be a FBI trainee, and Sean a Detective, who want a quite time together from their fast paced lives. However, even in the quiet cover of the jungle Lucy and Sean find trouble. (Lately it seems trouble intentionally finds FBI agents) Personally the plot was cliche-two agents' find trouble, but at the end, save the day. In addition, the idea of the two being in love and the depiction of fear about either being hurt seemed a bit, so to say, girly. With that being said if you have two to three hours in your hand and want to read a book for the heck of it, then I'd say go for it.

Loved it. Allison Brennan packs a lot into 100 pgs, it has the same feel I've come to love with Lucy's books and it's story that sucked me in. Great read for $2!

Her journey is both inspiring and heart-wrenching, as Ms. Brennan explores themes of resilience, justice, and the complexities of human relationships. Lucy’s partnership with Sean Rogan, a private investigator, adds another intriguing layer, tension, and dynamic to the series.
These are fast-paced stories, with twists that kept me guessing. As Ms. Brennan’s ability to balance intense action with deeply personal moments made the stories feel both thrilling and yet still relatable. No matter where they go – whether they're on a job or on vacation, trouble always manages to find Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan. In this novella, Lucy has a weekend off from her training at Quantico and Sean has every last detail planned for a weekend camping in the isolated woods. Everything except for the other people who are at the campsite and clearly in distress. Upon introducing themselves, they tell Sean and Lucy that their child ran away and they haven't been able to find him for the past six hours – but this is only the beginning of the story, and after splitting up and searching for help, Lucy and Sean discover far more of the truth than they ever wanted – and all from the little boy who is much stronger than he appears. Taking actions into their own hands, Sean and Lucy yet again face life or death situations, are forced to choose between themselves and others, and put themselves in harm's way in order to save the innocent. And while they wouldn't change anything about the choices they make, Lucy will still have to defend her actions upon returning to Quantico – something that invokes fear deep inside her in regards to losing her job – a job she doesn't even have yet.

Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan go away for a weekend camping. Sean, a PI, and Lucy in training for the FBI, have not had much time together since she has been an Quantico for training. What he hopes will be a romantic getaway soon turns into something sinister. She and he are left trying to figure out what is really going on with a couple they stumble upon. Sean quickly realizes that his hopes for a nice quiet weekend together are not going to happen. They both have to use all of their skills to survive. I don't want to give away what happens, but it was packed with quite a bit of drama. It is my first book that I have read in this series and I am looking forward to reading more.

Each story gets better and better
Lucy and Sean are finally on their weekend getaway and it does not go as planned! Noah talks about being trouble magnets in this quick adventure and I agree. This story is very detailed and visual. I enjoyed the action scenes, but also how in each story, especially here we see how Lucy and Sean are growing individually, professionally and as a couple. This would be a good book on its own, but I strongly encourage reading this series in order to fully grasp the development, relationships and characters.

Trouble has Lucy and Sean locked into its GPS so it can find them wherever they are. This time they are on a camping vacation in a remote camp ground. I am a massive fan of Ms Brennan and Lucy Kincaid. I am several books behind and am starting to catch up. Not sure if I read this before it was mainly to get me back into Lucy and Sean mode.
Should they have split up in looking for the lost boy? She’s barely an agent. She followed her heart. It’s a novella be kind.

The author puts together a good adventure in this little novella. Once again, Lucy and Sean try to escape for a romantic getaway only to get pulled into a criminal investigation. I love these characters but there are times when Sean or Lucy seem out of character or don't think through their actions.
Reckless is must read if you are committed to the series, but not my favorite.

Lucy Kincaid seems to find trouble like Miss Marple finds bodies wherever she goes. Even on an innocent camping trip Lucy and Sean find, and of course, catch bad guys. Always an enjoyable, easy read.
