Jesse Leon McCann is an American comic book and children's book author. He wrote most of the stories for the Pinky and the Brain comic series, edited two out of the four Simpsons episode guides, and wrote all of the Smiley the Psychotic Button comics for Chaos! Comics. McCann's Shrek II movie adaptation novel made the New York Times Best Selling Children's Book list in 2005. While McCann mostly scribes comic books and children's books, he has written for a variety of genres in different forms (such as the Austin Powers trivia game).
We love Scooby-Doo, so we are always looking for more books starring that loveable Great Dane and his teenage pals. This is a good picture book, with a short narrative and lots of colorful, action-filled illustrations. The mystery wasn't too difficult, nor was it scary. We had fun reading this book together and loved seeing Shaggy and Scooby as mermaids!
Michael, age 5, loves Scooby-Doo books in general, and especially this one. He loves it when Scooby and Shaggy dress up as mermaids. Every time he gets to that page, he laughs out loud. Watch his YouTube review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRgFmV...
I read this thinking of my littlest nephew who may not be familiar with his aunt's very favorite cartoon (Scooby), and from that vantage it's ok. I'm not sure he'd get everything, but a Scooby-familiar (aka meddling) kid will.
This was a pretty good Scooby Doo book. More like the 'old-original' Scooby Doo cartoons. Wasn't over the edge or wasn't super silly. Had a nice storyline and easy to follow to figure out 'who done it' toward the end.
totally stupid and plot driven. there is no character development. it's just a bunch of running around. and since there are only 3 people who are not part of the scooby gang, there really isn't that much suspense on who the Villan is.
