Science Guru Sudoku: The Electromagnetic Spectrum is an inventive new book pairing basic scientific concepts with a series of visible light-themed Sudoku puzzles, offering informative lessons with the added benefit of a hands-on, immersive educational experience. Carefully designed to increase learning and retention while making science more fun, Jennise Conley’s Science Guru Sudoku series is a refreshing new approach that will captivate middle school, high school, and college students, while equally delighting scientists, science teachers, and people who are broadly interested in science and physics. It also offers a new twist and challenge for the most seasoned of Sudoku solvers. Science Guru Sudoku: The Electromagnetic Spectrum turns a potentially tedious process on its ear. Clarifying and reinforcing central principles and scientific terminology as it thoroughly covers the basics of this area of physics, Science Guru Sudoku also touches upon related topics, ranging from Einstein’s theory of relativity to the effect of specific ranges of the color spectrum on human emotions. Transposing the traditional nine-by-nine grid of the Sudoku puzzle to a new six-by-six configuration that utilizes the six colors associated with the spectrum of visible light—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet—in place of digits, Science Guru Sudoku assembles fifty colorful, brain-teasing Sudoku puzzles, with answer keys included. Science Guru Sudoku keeps readers entertained and engaged as it reveals and imparts the fundamental concepts and key terms of important areas of scientific study. By breaking down the subjects into concise, readily understood segments, and reinforcing the reader’s growing proficiency with the topics through fun illustrations and, of course, themed Sudoku puzzles, Science Guru Sudoku builds both problem-solving skills and specific areas of knowledge that will last a lifetime and perhaps even spark an interest in further investigation and study.
