3.5. The illustrations aren’t my favorite.

This book is short and sweet for children that are expecting a sibling. Teachers can find this book helpful when identifying the differences of families and who comes from a single parent house hold as well as who comes from a household with a lot of siblings. This is a nice social and emotional book that describes the feelings you may get when someone new comes in the house.

Beautiful pictures, sweet book for a child expecting a new sibling. My son just never "took" to it. Not sure why, I liked it. Maybe it was slight oddness of an adult crawling into the cradle at one point. Or maybe it was actual new sibling on the way. Well, either way, he didn't hate it or anything like that, just didn't particularly want to read it.

I think this would be a good book to introduce an older sibling to the idea of a new baby on the way because it shows a family happily anticipating the arrival of a new baby. It's a bit too long for a bedtime story, though.
