Featuring gorgeous vintage artwork from the 1950s and 1960s, Walt Disney's Classic Storybook pays homage to the storybooks of yesteryear. We've taken eighteen of Disney's classic stories -- including Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Dumbo -- and paired them with the stunning and detailed art that was published with these stories decades ago. Parents will recognize this artwork from the beloved Disney storybooks of their youth, and will delight in sharing these timeless treasures with their own children.
This book was ok but it wasn't great. Some of the stories were really short, only a couple of pages and others were a little longer. The original pictures were a nice touch but didn't always match up with the movies that have been made. The stories were also a little choppy and left out some important parts of the stories. I wouldn't really recommend this for children than enjoy Disney movies and stories but serious fans of the original Disney stories before Disney made movies would enjoy this book and the fact that the pictures are the original drawings are a nice touch for serious Disney fans.
Illustrations on every page and are predominantly straight from the films, (with the exception of Mary Poppins) which is great. Several stories would have been better left out altogether though, as they were just short excerpts to keep them to about 20 pages each. Mary Poppins for one was just the part about Uncle Albert. Why bother? Overall, a pretty good collection of short classics, just right for bedtime stories.
I had this book when I was little, obviously the 2001 book wasn't the same one I read! I don't think they changed the front art though, because I remember the two skaters and the airplane. Brings back fond memories!
My daughter enjoys this book. I, however, prefer the original Peter Pan and other non-Disney stories. This book does have tales from vintage Disney films...which reddens it enough to earn one star from me.
