From the author of the unforgettable Because You Are Mine...

Losing control is just the beginning…

“What would you do if the sexiest man in the world was bent on bringing you unbearable pleasure again and again? Joy Hightower wasn’t sure she could survive the experience…or live without it."

It’s not often you’re hired to paint a body tattoo—and what a body—on a total stranger at a Hollywood film set. A reserved and careful art teacher, Joy would never forget it. In a rare fit of raw desire she gave herself completely, knowing she’d never see him again, or ever repeat such a shameless, naked impulse.

Little did she know, the man with whom she shared that lightning bolt of lust was star Everett Hughes. For Everett, women and sex came as easily as fame. But how could he hope to convince the guarded Joy that beneath the hard body and sexy façade of celebrity was a real man who wanted only one, real woman?

In the heat of an intoxicating affair, Everett endeavors to break down her barriers, gain her trust, and expose himself as the real deal. But can Joy do the same, and reveal to him the vulnerable woman who longs to be loved, wanted, and desired forever?

For realzzz people !

EDIT : 09/11/2012

“I wouldn’t want you to suffer,” he said with calm deliberation .“Who would ever want that for someone they care about? We can’t choose our fates, though. We can only choose how we respond to them. I would choose to be with you. I want to celebrate your existence,
Joy. Every day that’s available to me, I want it. I’ll cherish it.”

Beth Kery has been on my authors-that-write-hot radar for quite a while now and Exposed to you is my first 'exposure' to her writing style and story telling technique . Well , after reading this book , all my thoughts direct me to only one absolute truth and that is :

Photobucket

The first chapter alone .....

orgasm

HOTTEST.BJ SCENE.EVER !!!!

Damn its hot in here !

Photobucket

Let me just talk about the story and stuffs but I promise I'll be back to all the hotness in just a bit ;)

Joy Hightower is an art teacher . Not just that , she's the niece of Hollywood's top class Visual and Special Effect designer plus she's equally talented when it comes to body painting , tattoo making and prosthetic sculpting . While helping her uncle out on the sets of the high budget underwater world movie Maritime , Joy stumbles upon Everett Hughes , actor extradordinaire . The only problem being she doesn't recognize him as he is covered with layers of makeup and body art . The two share a very .... ummmm .... extremely .... bone jerking moment and then end up not meeting each other for fourteen months . You see , Joy has been diagnosed with Cancer and that little some some she shares with Everett , she just blames it on the 'heat of the moment' thing . Fourteen months later , when she's all cured up , she meets Everett again but doesn't recognize him ... Hell , she didn't even know it was him .. * giggles * .. Anyways , so he recognizes her almost instantly and that's just the beginning of their journey together !!!!

Two reasons why I fell in love with this book :

a) The STEAM factor here got me all hot and bothered ! Whenever I read a super sexy sex scenes , which was pretty much all the sex that this book had to offer , all I could say was , " Damn !!!! Thats fuckin hot ! Phew , I need something to cool down a bit !!! "

Photobucket

The kind of things I've read here ..... HOLY CRAP ! I've also realized that sex therapy is pretty useful when you want to get your thoughts across to people . Just sayin ..

And ...

b) EVERETT oh-so-good HUGHES !!! The guy .. what can I say , he's just .... UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE ! Top notch Hollywood actor who is NOT a playboy . Doesn't sleep around . Is actually looking for a connection with the the girl he falls in love with , loves his family , loves kids and isn't awkward around them ..... Absolutely in love with him right now !!!!!

Photobucket

Not only is he sexy as hell , he's super considerate too ! I loved how he gave Joy her space whenever she needed it , and did not give up on her no matter how many times she pushed him away .
A guy who is good at heart and excellent on bed ... now that's a keeper !!!!

Joy did manage to get on my nerves at times , but then a part of me did understand what she would be going through . If someone finds out that life is just now like grains of sands that will soon flow out of your hands and be done with , then its not only a battle that is fought by that one particular someone but also by those who love and cherish that someone . I could see how she wanted Everett to be happy and not suffer on her behalf .

My most favorite scene in this book has to be the one where Everett tells Joy that he wont go anywhere and that he'll stick to her no matter what happens . Joy just breaks down , she sobs like she hasn't cried for ages . And at that moment , the readers realize that she really was holding up a lot inside her .

Photobucket

If you are looking for a emotional but a uberly sexy read , look no further , Exposed to you is just for you !

I started this in July. It's September October now. Let that sink in. If it hadn't been for me ordering this online & falling behind on my reading challenge, I would have dropped this mid blowjob 10 pages in. Yes, you read that correctly. I love me some good smut, sometimes you just need good smut. But there was nothing good or remotely satisfying about this book. There is literally ZERO plot or character development. Everything is super fast, rushed and manufactured. From the insta-lust, the nonexistent chemistry, the weak attempt at 'angst' and the trying too hard sex talk. I don't know, everyone is different and I can see this was a big hit for many but for me personally my kind of smut doesn't include golden penises, juicy pussies and twanging clits.

Give me my time and money back.

This started off on the wrong foot for me immediately in Chapter 1 when the heroine meets the hero while doing his makeup for a shoot and before you can say 'Hello my name is' she's whipping out his penis and giving him the "best sexual experience of his life". At work. On a set. In full sea creature prosthetics. With teams of people running around behind an unlocked door.

Like seriously? The whole "Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but can I suck you off quickly?" just REALLY turned me off. It immediately set the wrong tone for me. And the fact that the hero is so quickly hot and bothered by her and impressed with her the minute he sees her I didn’t understand. Like woah buddy….slow the hell down.

Because of this, every sexual encounter after that just came off borderline creepy & shallow to me considering how they barely know each other. I mean he’s pulling her dress down and baring her breasts and sucking on her in a public restaurant after he just finished telling her how careful he is with his private life. Like WTF? Am I supposed to forget that restaurants have security cameras?? He's literally a B-rated Brad Pitt imitation with the awful clothes he wears, the press following him everywhere and his private life plastered all over the media....so yeah this was laughable to me. The hero is supposedly a high profile A-list actor who gets followed everywhere by the papz and tries to protect his private life so yes I took issue with the sexual marathons in very public settings. And I’m sorry but who the hell tells their sister about a woman they met for like five minutes (and performs oral sex on you) and talks about her for a year? A. whole. damn. year. YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HER.

This made no sense.

The only 'conflict' this couple have is a health scare near the end with the heroine Joy refusing to tell the hero Everett that her cancer may have returned. Her idiotic stubbornness and overblown reaction to not wanting anyone to get close to her because she might get sick again was so lame. She moved to another state because she didn't want her friends and loved ones to find out she had cancer, even though she was in remission. Uh.....ok. I just found her reactions to things stupid silly and Anastasia Steele worthy. The guy pulls out a dildo and you say you've used it before then what exactly is there to act confused about?? He needs to shave off his goatee which comes with his job of being an actor, yet you act horrified that he needs to shave it off panicking like it will never grow back and indignant on his behalf thinking he's being misused.

Then there's just the writing, it's not my favorite.

Nooope. No siree.

It's flat, trite, cheesy and......drippy-ish.

He gently moved her wrists to the small of her back. “Arch your back,” he said. “Present your breasts to me.”

“I worship your tight, wet little pussy.”

Her buttocks clenched tight against the tingling pleasure at her anus and all along her perineum, ending in a sizzle at her sex.

Her clit twanged with arousal.

Warm moisture seeped from her pussy, an answer to the call of his touch. It felt so good feeling her desire flow like sap, reminding her she was alive.

Now she was brimming with life, golden and rich, overfilled by Everett’s powerful energy. He pulsed against her clamoring nerves, kissing deep, secret flesh with his cock.

She may look fresh as a wild rose, but she knew how to suck.
She pulled at him. He winced in pleasure as he slid across her tongue, going deeper into the humid, hot glory of her.

This book really should have been titled Ode to Everett Hughes's Juicy Golden Dick
The graphic memory of holding his heavy, shapely penis in her hand exploded into her mind's eye.

He was profile to her. His cock protruded from his body at a downward angle between his legs, the thick head reminding her of a fleshy, succulent arrow tip.

His cock hung like some type of glorious, fertile fruit between his thighs, the tapering, fat head pinker than the light gold, straight shaft.

Everett didn’t like his cock to be treated with kid gloves. She beat at the tumescent member for a taut moment, watching in fascination as the veins popped on the surface and shapely head took on a purple hue.

Joy stopped breathing, spellbound by the vision of his long golden penis just inches from her face. It seemed to take up her entire field of vision. Her clit pinched so tight in longing, she grimaced.

Why the fuck is every part of this man’s body including his penis described as gold? WHY?
He arrowed his cock into her, all of his desire and need made manifest into hard, swollen flesh. She gasped and her head hit the wall with a thud. He flexed his hips, made savage by the feeling of carving into tight, warm, juicy flesh. His eyes sprang wide.

Carving into? Warm juicy flesh? Excuse me but this isn’t the Food network. I mean sex and food can be sexy together but the visuals I kept getting in my head here.....

Then just the down right stupid dialogue:
“I know you have a life that I probably couldn’t even comprehend, for that matter.”
It’s not that hard to comprehend,” he said, his manner just as pressured. “I’m a guy; you’re a girl; we’re both straight. I like you. I like you a lot. I haven’t been this interested in a woman for….for...ever.”
Why the hell is he pointing out their sexual orientation? Like that was ever in question or something??
Seth’s features looked even more classically Native American than usual as he gave Everett an impassive, cold stare.

So yeah.......Final verdict:

Joy Hightower is an artist/teacher working for her uncle (who owns a Hollywood special effects company). She's painting some body art/tattoo on what she thinks is a Hollywood extra (he's in costume and full makeup)--turns out to be a major movie star/hunk Everett Hughes! (But Joy doesn't recognize him...) Both Joy and Everett get extremely turned on while she's painting him--and Joy does something completely out of character for her. The fact that she may be dying with the same disease her mother had might have something to do with it...

Fast forward a year and Joy has moved to Chicago to start over after a medically rough year. She runs into her Hollywood extra--but he looks a lot like Everett Hughes! Everett wonders why Joy fell off the face of the earth after their close encounter and invites her to the movies' Chicago premier. There's still a strong attraction between the two, and this time they go even further with that attraction than the last time. Joy wants to think of it as only a fling--after all, what would a big star like Everett want with someone like her? Joy is careful not to let herself fall for Everett, and keeps part of herself closed off, including a big secret about her health. Everett wants to be more than physically intimate with Joy--he wants to really get to know her, but he can tell Joy is keeping a part of herself hidden. Everett has been unlucky in love, but something tells him that Joy may be the one for him. If only she would open up...he knows they have a deep connection, but why does she keep pulling back?

Everett...

Oh wow, this was a hot one! Usually a Hollywood star as the hero wouldn't excite me, but Everett...what a man! Passionate, sensitive, understanding, and just a little dominant. I think I fell in love with him. And Joy, well, she had it rough, and I could definitely see why she held herself back from Everett--she was afraid it was too good to be true! I really enjoyed their story--they had major, major chemistry, but Joy did try my patience a time or two. I wanted her to be up front with Everett about her health--I knew he wasn't the kind of guy to cut and run, and I just wanted Joy to trust in their relationship.

So glad to see Everett's sis and brother-in-law--Katie and Rill (Addicted to You) in this one, as well as old flame Jennifer (Bound To You)--loved catching up with them. I love Beth Kery as a storyteller, she gives you so much background on the characters that you really get to know them. And where she really excels is in the sex scenes--very steamy, passionate... the heat just comes right off the pages. Not many do it better than her.

If you're looking for a fast paced, super-steamy emotional read, with a hero who's to die for---look no further. Beth Kery delivers big-time with "Exposed to You." 4 1/2 stars

Artist Joy Hightower is a lucky artist whose familial ties get her on the set of the Hollywood movie, Maritime. Her uncle is the makeup department head and when he is unable to meet the demands of the fast-paced schedule, he asks Joy to help him body paint some of the actors on set. Joy enjoys her job, painting toned and sculpted bodies with the gentle strokes of her brush. But it seems that one of the actors (who she later finds out of is the “A” list movie star, Everett Hughes) seems to enjoy it more. Sexual tension sparks like an electrical fuse between these two and it only takes one mind-altering blowjob to cause an explosion. Joy and Everett make plans to meet again after the day’s filming, but because of some miscommunication, their rendezvous turns into one big no-show. Fourteen years later, Joy is a teacher now and accidentally runs into Everett once again. Their chemistry is once again very potent and this time, Everett isn’t taking any chances that he could lose her again.

EXPOSED TO YOU turned out to be more than I expected. With a movie star hero, I wondered if he would be rich and arrogant. Instead Everett was a sweet guy with a dominant steak. I absolutely loved how loving and sweet he was with Joy. When you read the book, you will discover Joy’s secret and the fact that it is so sensitive only makes the way Everett reacts to her more sweet. Joy is the type of person to guard her heart with an army, so as Everett slowly chips away at her armour, readers get a story that is so much more than just the smoking hot sex. There’s love, and passion and awe as Everett tries to understand how he got so lucky.

For a story with five-alarm sex scenes AND deep thought-provoking emotions, you must definitely give EXPOSED TO YOU and Everett Hughes a try. But remember, he belongs to me :)

This book starts out with one of the hottest scenes you could want in a first chapter. Joy, an artist, is helping her Uncle out with his special effects company that’s working on a Hollywood movie blockbuster. Joy is asked to paint a body tattoo on one of the actors, an actor she assumes is an extra comes in and she’s instantly attracted. With all the man’s makeup on she can’t tell who he is, only that she’s drawn to him and gives him one steamy blow job after working them both up into a frenzy painting his body tattoo on. Little does she know she just got up close and personal with the lead actor and Hollywood’s “IT” man Everett Hughes, but when the still unknown to her actor stands her up later that night, she tries to crush the disappointment that sets in and instead moves forward, focusing on herself as she’s been recently diagnosed with cancer.

Flash forward fourteen months later, Joy has relocated to Chicago away from her only family, her Uncle Seth, and underwent all her cancer treatments alone. She watched her mother fight cancer for years before finally seeing the disease take her life and she doesn’t want anyone she loves to deal with what she had to as a young girl watching her mom. Her dad bailed on them so it was just Joy and her Uncle. She’s now healthy and working as an art teacher in Chicago when Everett runs into her while he’s in town for his movie’s premiere. She realizes pretty quickly that he was the man she painted over a year ago and he’s been thinking about her ever since.

What I loved most about this couple was how easy they were to simply like. They cleared up the misunderstanding of Everett standing her up and agreed to a date. Their romance takes off from there, they date, they get closer and they have some hot sex. Everett is a little bit dominant, he likes Joy to be restrained and he pushes her into not necessarily new situations, but certainly new feelings. She feels raw and exposed after each time they have sex, the connection between them hits her deep and she’s just not used to it. She’s used to living her life alone, she keeps her cancer a secret from Everett, not wanting him to know what she went through and the fear she has of it recurring. She has vowed to keep the people she loves away from that part of her life. Her Uncle, who loves her so much, has been kept in the dark about most of it, and she refuses to tell Everett. For me, reading about a lead character dealing with an illness isn’t something that I usually pick up. I like to read to escape reality and having a heroine deal with cancer, while it’s incredibly emotional and shapes who Joy is, it’s just not something I like to see the characters go through. That said, I thought the topic was well done. It felt really only prominent at the very end, otherwise, it’s a part of Joy, her feelings and emotions regarding it are described throughout, but the main story focused on her and Everett’s relationship and how it could ever possibly work between an artist and Hollywood’s leading man.

“Joy,” he muttered. He bent and covered her mouth with his own. As if his kiss gave her permission, she began to touch him everywhere, sliding her palms along the sides of his ribs, molding his back muscles to her palms, testing to see if the trail of hair down his taut abdomen felt as silky as it appeared.

It did. It also made Everett groan into her mouth and seal their kiss. She glanced up, her first and second fingers dipping beneath his waistband, pausing when she saw the glint in his blue-green eyes.

“Let’s get you out of this dress,” he murmured. She felt his hand at her shoulder. Instead of immediately pulling on the cotton straps, he toyed with them for a moment, running the cloth between his long fingers. For some reason, his actions made liquid heat surge between her thighs. When he eventually did pull at the material, releasing the bow, he smiled. But the time he’d untied the other strap, she breathed raggedly.

“It’s like unwrapping a priceless present,” he said, devilish grin in place.

Everett is such a likable hero. He’s grounded, he lives a crazy life in the spotlight but all he really wants is the life his sister has: marriage, kids and place to call home. He believes he may never find it but when Joy comes into his life he becomes certain that he can’t ever let her go. Their sex scenes were erotic and just plain sexy but also packed with so much emotion. It’s an addictive combination to read when the characters have you fanning yourself on one page and grabbing a tissue on the next. I simply loved getting to know this couple, both as individual characters and together.

This is book 2 in Beth Kery’s One Night of Passion series, but absolutely reads as a stand alone. It’s a well done, emotional story about two somewhat unlikely people finding their home with each other. It’s sexy, it has moments that tugged at my heart and I was so satisfied with this couple’s happy ending. A definite must read.

I am normally not a fan of erotic romance and books filled with sex scenes which this book has (I skimmed them), what I did enjoy about this book was the depth it had. Beth Kerry can write which this book reflects even beyond pages of sex. I liked the hero and how he simplified Hollywood and what it meant to him. I loved the heroine and their story.

“Life and a future aren’t a certainty, both of those things are ephemeral, as difficult to hold on to as an unexpected lightning strike of desire.”

What does a young, vivacious woman do when she’s been handed a diagnosis that could possibly snuff out her existence?

Art teacher and painter, Joy Hightower is facing her worst nightmare. Like her mother, who died of the disease, Joy has been diagnosed with cancer. The same day of her diagnosis, Joy’s uncle Seth calls with an impromptu request at the Hollywood film set where he is the makeup department head. Knowing Joy is the best artist for the job, Seth asks her to paint the last tattoo on one of the actors in the current production, Maritime. When she begins painting, Joy has no clue that under the mask and costume of the man she is painting is “A” list actor, Everett Hughes. One look into the clear aquamarine eyes beneath the costume causes Joy to feel an attraction and sexual sensation that she had never experienced when working with models and actors in the past. The attraction is mutual and as Joy begins to paint Everett’s body, her mind and emotions are on overdrive causing an adrenaline rush and arousal that results in Joy giving Everett the most erotic blowjob of his life. Not understanding their intense connection but wanting to figure it out, both agree to meet after the shoot. After a misunderstanding of venue, they never meet up and Joy determines it’s for the best as she needs to focus on the harsh reality of fighting a killer disease.

Fourteen months later, Joy has relocated to Chicago and undergone treatment for her cancer. Her fierce independence resulted in her choice to face the journey alone. Joy witnessed cancer suck the life out of her mother, which resulted in her father leaving them both. She knows first hand how the burden of the disease affects family and friends and therefore did not want her only close family member, Seth to bear the burden with her. Joy is now in remission and teaching art at one of the local schools. While having coffee with several colleagues, she runs into Everett Hughes who is in town for a movie premiere. He immediately approaches her to find out why she never met him after their memorable first encounter. Joy is shocked and a little embarrassed to learn that Everett is the man she lost her inhibitions with that day at the studio. Everett knows the connection they shared was something he has never experienced with a woman and he has no intention of letting Joy out of his sight again so he asks her to be his date to the premiere. She accepts, believing there connection is nothing more than a fleeting physical attraction given this is a man who could have any woman he wants; however Everett is determined to prove otherwise.

Exposed to You is such an intensely heated and emotionally satisfying story on many levels. Not only is there a good amount of sizzling raw, sex, but Beth Kery also allows us to get to know the soul of the characters as well as witness a slow developing romance. I love that we learn the desires and insecurities of both characters and there is a verbal communication that they share during their sexual moments that is very refreshing. Ms. Kery succeeded in bringing their unique and vibrant personalities to life within the pages. Everett is a strong, virile, charismatic man. He is totally grounded; comfortable with his sexuality and desires a meaningful relationship with a woman who sees beyond the stereotype of Everett, the movie star. He is intense yet fun; as the reader he is easy to love and towards the end he makes such a profound gesture of his commitment to Joy you can help but be a little teary. Joy on the other hand yields a double edge sword in regard to intimacy. She is completely uninhibited in regard to her sexuality and in allowing Everett to expose her sexual nature. However, emotionally, she does not want to pursue a committed relationship for many reasons; the most important being the possibility of a recurrence of cancer.

I have to say the initial blowjob scene is one of the most erotic scenes I have read in romance to date. So much so, that I read it more than once! Seriously, it will leave you panting and that is just the opening chapter! Furthermore, the sex scenes Ms. Kery pens are emotionally gripping and the raw passion this couple ignites is quite breathtaking. Everett introduces Joy to tantric sexuality in order to promote an intimacy Joy has never experienced and as a result we witness some intensely erotic and exceptionally beautiful moments between the two.

“It’s just sex, Joy,” he said. “Isn’t that what you told me on the dock?”

“You’re so beautiful,” she heard him murmur as his open hand caressed the side of her body and she quivered like a live wire. “You shine so brightly in my eyes.”

She clamped her eyes shut and felt a burn behind the lids.

“Say it’s just sex now, Joy.”

Anger flickered into the swirl of her satiation. Was it anger? Or was it fear?

“Your silence is a dare. Don’t dare me,” he said, his voice deceptively soft.

She clenched her eyes shut tighter. Her anguish had lowered to her throat, tightening it. It was like a hand squeezed it, halting the brewing volcano of emotion in her chest. She felt as if his touch were putting her in direct contact with her life—with joy and laughter and light and passion unlike anything she’d ever known or dreamt.

She hated him for making her feel this much.

Readers who love a deeply meaningful erotic love story should definitely experience the magic of Exposed to You. The richly developed dialogue and thought provoking emotion will leave a memorable impression long after you are finished.

Favorite Quote:

“I like listening to you,” he mumbled.

“Everett, I’m not saying anything,” she admonished gently.

“I can hear you breathe”

“Are you suggesting I have a Darth Vader issue?”

He chuckled tiredly. “No, you’re a much sexier breather than Darth.”

This story is fine, but could be better. In fact, after the first chapters I thought it would be better.

The idea is quite good and the beginning of this book is also pretty good. It doesn't really bother me that the main characters are attracted to each other from the first pages of the book. And I liked that they meet for the second time quite quickly. We do not have to wait reading the long chapters filled with memories of the first meeting and regret that they have not seen each other again. This part is pretty good.

Unfortunately, later it is a bit worse. This is a very simple story. I think it's a bit too simple. They meet, fall in love, she has some stupid doubts, he follows her, and they live happily ever after. Nothing more than that. I would prefer something more. Especially that the reasons for which Joy and Everett are parting are a bit ill-considered in my opinion. In general, in my opinion this whole part doesn't work from the psychological point of view. But about that in a moment.

In the meantime, let's get back to the plot. Something more could be done here. Instead, we get a whole bunch of sex scenes with BDSM elements. The problem is that they are not particularly interesting. I do not know why. It may be problem with finding some deeper feelings in these scenes. Either way, they are rather boring and quite repetitive. The fact that they replace the proper plotline, does not make any favor to this book. It's one of those cases where you could use more storyline and less sex.

Which unfortunately also results from the weakness of the characters. Although initially Joy and Everett look like interesting characters, reading the book we do not learn much more about them than we know after the first few chapters. No, I’m wrong, as I think about it now, this is not really true. Because Kate, Everett's sister, tells us a lot about him. But I'd rather find out all this either from his actions or from Everett himself. And it would be wonderful if Joy could discover Everett's character on her own. Likewise, I don't think Everett learns anything about Joy. She is a mystery to him all the time. I would like the characters to be much more developed.

This is also part of my biggest problem with this book. Joy's behavior is not well explained in my opinion. That is, her behavior can be explained to some extent by the fact that she is in fact much more similar to her father, although the suggestion never appears in the book even once. Her psychology could be much better developed. Because of this underdeveloped personality, Joy's behavior is irritating.

And so, Joy is a mystery not only for us but also for Everett. And here, in my opinion, another problem arises. Why Everett is so madly in love with Joy? A woman he doesn't know and doesn't understand. With which he spent only a few days. I don't understand it at all. That is why their love seems very unreliable to me. I will agree that they feel desire, that they are fascinated with each other, but that they love each other? I doubt it. Everything happens too quickly for such deep feelings to have time to develop.

This is not a bad book, only very average. This is a story that you will quickly forget with its not-so-interesting characters. Unintentionally I discovered that I have several other books by this author on my TBR pile. Probably one day I will read them and I will be very surprised that I have already read something by this author.

The "One Night of Passion" Series is one of the most well written, enjoyable, erotic series out there. If you haven't read it yet, and you enjoy contemporary erotic romance, get yourself in gear and start this series. Beth Kery is an excellent author.

This particular story starts out with a blush-worthy erotic scene so hot, you don't want to be reading it in the grocery store line or while waiting in the pickup line at your child's school. Give it your full attention. It is HOT.

Joy Hightower is an artist, and as a favor to her Uncle Seth, a Hollywood special effects guy, is painting one of his stars for a scene. Earlier in the day she found out she had cancer, so her day has a surreal quality to it. During the body tattoo paint scene, the subject, a very attractive "marine man" character" gets some involuntary wood from having this woman so close to his junk, breathing on and painting his abdomen. Completely out of character, Joy helps him "resolve" his problem in a highly erotic way, with her mouth.

Unbeknownst to her, the marine man is big-time star Everett Hughes, who wants to meet and get to know Joy. He is sincerely attracted to her and persistent. Be still my heart, what a hot man!

Months go by before Everett tracks her down. Joy is attracted to him but is on guard because of the cancer, which has been successfully treated. She has done her best to keep her illness to herself, but can she let her guard down to let love in?

If you or anyone you know has ever been seriously ill, you will understand Joy's emotional distancing/isolation. Beth Kery did and outstanding job of depicting the pain of both sides- the sick and/or in remission person and the family. This real-life part of the story is what makes this highly erotic romance so outstanding. Because, while I enjoy my escapism erotic romance reads, real life is messy and it's nice to see an author incorporate those realities so astutely in their writing.

I’ve been a big fan of Beth Kery for years. She writes some awesome steamy and erotic romance. Her soon to be release, Exposed to You, part of her One Night of Passion series is an excellent romance with a too good to be true hero, and a heroine, who against all odds overcomes a deadly illness and lives life on her terms. But she doesn’t expect the handsome, Hollywood rising star to break down her defenses and sneak his way into her heart. Exposed to You is one of the best books I’ve read to date by Beth. Her writing really shines here with wonderful dialogue, very dimensional characters and some of the best love scenes I’ve read all year. Any fan of contemporary romance with more than enough spice between the main couple will want to check this one out.

Joy Hightower is a talented art teacher. Joy is also a cancer survivor. She's had experience with the disease in the past. Her father couldn’t deal with her mother’s illness and up and left them both. Her father's rejection and mother's death has shaped Joy, although she has a lot of support and love from her Uncle Seth, who is a successful makeup artist in Hollywood. Seth asks Joy to help him on the set of what will be a big underwater motion picture called Maritime (think Kevin Costner’s Waterworld, but this one won’t bomb). Joy will help with the body art end of things and that’s where she comes in contact with the superstar of tomorrow, Everett Hughes. Joy has no idea who Everett is, but there’s a big attraction between both, so much so that she ends up giving him a blowjob, no questions asks. Afterward Everett asks to meet Joy after both their workdays are done, but because of a miscommunication issue on where to meet (they really should have exchanged phone numbers), they both think the other has bailed out on each other and go their separate ways.

Fourteen months later, Joy is living in Chicago and teaching. She's moved from Los Angeles after her treatments and wanted to start anew where no one knows about her illness. She gets the biggest surprise of her life when Everett walks into a coffee shop she’s at and the sparks fly between them once again. Everett is in town for the premiere of Maritime and he wants Joy to go as his date. He plans on finding out why she shafted him, which she really didn’t, and after they talk, he decides to court Joy. Everett may have a reputation as a player, but he’s more of a one woman type of guy, and he wants Joy. He has to figure out a way to prove to her that they belong together. She takes the chance and goes away with him for a long weekend where she gets to know his sister and her husband, as well as her Uncle Seth who tags along, but keeps a close eye on Everett for reasons Everett doesn’t understand. He would never hurt Joy in a million years and only wants to love her. And loving Joy is Everett’s goal. Joy gives into her passion for Everett and is more than willing to do some sexual acts she would have never been open to if not for Everett who is kind, understand and wonderful. But Joy continues to keep her distance and will only give Everett her body because she can’t take the chance she could get sick again and Everett could leave her just like her father did to her mother.

Exposed To You had my every emotion engaged while I read. Everett is as close to perfect as you can get. Can I haz a Everett? Joy is one lucky woman because she's THE ONE for Everett. He falls hard for her and doesn’t care if the entire world knows. He’s also a gentleman and courts Joy as well as seduces her. Everett’s seduction techniques would make any women swoon. He’s into tantric sex, and the first time he does that with Joy, she’s so overwhelmed that she has a violent reaction (orgasm of the century) to Everett and what he shares with her. Everett is the ultimate giver and doesn’t expect anything in return.

The love scenes smolder and there are many sexual positions and acts shared between the two. I’m not a big fan of butt butt love, but the way Beth has written Everett’s fun times with Joy’s butt is hot to trot. Scorching is the perfect word, including some kink Everett introduces to Joy, who is very open to trying everything and anything. Even when they commune with nature among the trees and mud, it’s really sexy.

Exposed to You gets high marks for me. It’s one of the best contemporary romances I’ve read this year. Spicy, emotional and vroom-vroom love making that makes me want more.

Like a lot of people I found this one when I read the excerpt. I believe I caught it when Dear Author wrote a post, and it was hot damn hot. I'm a sucker (hm) for when a writer can honestly write a sexy sex scene. There's a kinetic, steal your breath sort of energy to it like any intense moment, and when it's done well I'm bound to break a kindle.

But this was the book that showed me that sex isn't enough for me anymore.

Not that it ever really was, but I'm getting to this weird point where I'm skimming. I'm exhausted by these stories where sex is a means to explore the other's feelings and emotions in a detailed manner that runs on for pages. For me, the sexy fades and gives way to a manual of descriptions. I'm being told that he's sliding lower, he's kissing everywhere, he's here, he's there, and I'm wondering if I took the trash out.

I need drama. I need plot. And that isn't to say that it wasn't here. The hollywood setup is one I enjoy sometimes because I like the drama of paparazzi and getting in and out of places and pretending for the media. The magic of movie making. There's potential in the set up. And here Everett is The Actor of the moment, but he's a genuine guy who was bowled over by the makeup artist who applied his magic Avatar-like makeup for his last movie. Oh, and she blew him. It was a crazy moment, where she'd just found out her cancer had returned, and he's a beautiful dude and things just happened. And it was written with Oh No, They Didn't and so much fire and you just need to know. But now it's a year later, and they've run into each other again, and he wants, and she's holding back, and what will happen?

Sex. Lots and lots of Let Me Push Your Buttons In Order To Bring Down Your Walls sex. I get exhausted by it, to be honest, and I'd rather them get into a fight or I don't know maybe go to a party where they have quick, angry sex in the bathroom. I want dialogue beyond moans. The dragged out pushing boundaries sex isn't working for me. It's taking up too much of the story. I want out of the red rooms of pain and just put away your handcuffs, guys. I love sex, but the erotic stuff just isn't working for me. I'm out.

Joy doesn't know what came over her when it came to the irresistible pull she felt towards a model she was painting a body tattoo on. What transpires is an erotic moment with the potential for something more, but a misinterpreted meeting ends up with both frustrated and feeling empty, they are left with only the memory of the intimate moment they shared.

Months later Hollywood star Everett Hughes walks into a coffee shop and sees Joy. He wants answers and his dominant personalty intends to get them. Joy had no clue the man she shared that moment with was Everett, now that both have a second chance she begrudgingly agrees to a date. Joy's insecurities about her life have her wondering what he will do when he finds out about her life, not wanting to explore the pain of losing him she knows she will have to let him go. Everett, however, has no intentions of leaving Joy and comes up with an erotic and intense plan to break down her carefully guarded walls.

I could kick myself for not picking this up sooner, what a wonderful story. I was completely enthralled with both Everett and Joy. You want Joy to open up to Everett and she does, even though at times she is scared about the emotions he manages to draw out of her. Everett is intense, dynamic, and easily one of my favorite characters. Would reread this again in a heartbeat, excellent read.

Exposed to You is so wildly erotic and intriguing I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see how great erotica is written. The rest of the book, however, does not live up to the promise of the first twenty-one pages.

The book opens with Joy Hightower, a rather private young woman who teaches art to gifted high school students, walking on to the movie set of an upcoming blockbuster fantasy film, Maritime. She's come at the call of her uncle Seth who heads the makeup department. He's understaffed and needs Joy, a talented makeup artist in her own right, to finish a tattoo for him. Joy listens to his request in a bit of a daze. She's just come from a doctor's appointment where she's been told she has metastatic B-cell lymphoma. Joy agrees to help out and finds herself painting on the torso of a gorgeous creature - the top half of his face is completely covered by a mask and more makeup. The man's body is stunning, and as Joy begins to paint his abdomen, she becomes aroused. He, only wearing very minimal stretchy briefs, does too. The atmosphere between the two of them becomes saturated with desire and by the time she finishes the tattoo, Joy longs to touch him intimately. She does - with his permission; she doesn't know his name - and the two share the most erotic experience of their lives. They agree to meet at the end of the shoot but the man - the reader knows he is Everett Hughes, the star of the film - doesn't show and Joy walks off the set and into "the reality of a harsh world."

Fourteen months later, Joy has left LA, moved to Chicago, gotten over her cancer, and is teaching at a new school. One day, she's having coffee with two of her colleagues, Max and Sarah, when Sarah gasps. The world's most famous movie star - Everett Hughes - has just walked into the cafe. He's in town for the Chicago screening of Maritime. It's not until he walks straight up to Joy, calling her name, and reminding her that they've met before - "You gave me the starburst tattoo." - that Joy realizes she'd gone down on Everett Hughes. ("I thought he was an extra," she tells her friends as he stares at her.) Everett asks Joy if he can speak with her alone and asks her why she never met him. The two realize they both waited for hours at different places on the set. Everett asks her to be his date at the Chicago premiere of his movie - it's the number one film in the country - and Joy, despite thinking he is literally out of her world, agrees.

The two begin sexual relationship almost immediately, one in which Everett calls the shots. Joy keeps her cancer diagnosis a secret from Everett - she's told almost no one about her past illness - a choice that allows her to keep a part of herself separate from the tsunami of desire and need that Everett overwhelms her with. Everett is obsessed with Joy; she brings something to his world that his fame, looks, money, and talent do not. He's not even sure what that is, he just knows he wants Joy more than he's ever wanted anything. I found his focus on her somewhat unbelievable and at times, a little creepy. He knows Joy has put up barriers against him, and for most of the book, he uses his sexual power, talent, and dominance to break down her defenses. This trade-off could have been interesting - Joy has the power in the emotional part of their relationship while Everett has the power in bed - but it didn't quite work for me. Joy's power comes from a stubborn refusal to let anyone get close to her because she rationalizes, if her cancer comes back and she dies, it would be too painful for those who care for her. This frustrated me because it is clear her distance is just as painful for those around her - her Uncle, her friends, and Everett. She's not strong as much as she is fortified by fear.

I also found Everett hard to connect to. He's the world's biggest star, handsome beyond belief, a perfect brother, Tantrically fantastic in bed, lovely to all - I just didn't buy him as remotely real. He is the stuff of fantasies and seemed out of place in this love story which is grounded in Joy's every day life. He and Joy, well, that relationship would only ever exist in fiction.

As I think back on reading  Exposed to You , what I recall the most is being impatient. There's lots of sex, but with the exception of the fabulous blowjob, the sex scenes seem slow and almost too clinically described. Outside of the sex, not much happens. Joy pulls away, Everett uses sex to pull her close, the reader keeps wondering when on earth she's going to tell this man she'll let do anything to her that, hey, she's a recent cancer survivor and still a little freaked out from the whole "I realized I could die" experience. I appreciated her fear, but couldn't become invested in her happiness or future with Everett.

I have enjoyed Ms. Kerry's other works - Sweet Restraint is one of my favorite erotic novels.  Exposed to You  didn't engage me or arouse me in the way that other Kerry works have. Except for that first chapter. That is worth reading. I give  Exposed to You  a C.

erotic, angsty and binge worthy ..

CW for Cancer

I picked this up as I was on a celebrity hero book binge but this was unexpected.

I didn’t expect the level of angst. I didn’t expect the level of kink. I didn’t expect to be absolutely engrossed in Joy and Everett’s love story, willing her to be honest with him about why she viewed their burgeoning relationship as temporary.

Everett is intense by the way. Like all in intense from page one but I loved him. He is very domineering between the sheets and the on page sex are bondage-lite.

This book will be read again as it brought me joy, sadness and everything in between. My first Beth Kery and it will not be the last

My rating is : 3.5 to 4 stars

I have to start by saying I truly enjoyed this book. I was grabbed immediately in the first chapter. I don't think I have read a book with this much sex in it. Everett and Joy literally have sex throughout the whole book, starting in chapter 1 and going through to the epilogue. I have to say by the end I was a little tired of all the sex. While reading this i couldn't get rid of the feeling that this book reminded me a little of Love Unscripted. I say that because it was an actor who falls for a teacher. I did enjoy that fact that this book showed the reader that just because you are an actor, you are still a real person on the inside. This book, I felt, was very refreshing in the respect that there wasn't any real drama. Yes Joy had a small bout of jealousy but she got over it pretty quickly. Any other drama was totally self inflicted. I liked that there weren't any outside factors that caused a misunderstanding, like you see in so many books.

I think the reason I deducted stars was because I didn't love the book. I have to say that at first I really enjoyed Joy as the heroine but as the book continued she started to aggravate me. She has a life issue that stops her from trusting and truly opening herself up to people. I understand being a little skittish in the beginning of a relationship but over time Everett proved he really cared about her. Still she had to go through something major for her to finally be able to open up to Everett about it. I also didn't like that it took til the last chapter for it to finally come out. I think it should have come out sooner and then continued on with how Everett and Joy handled everything together. I also had a problem with a part of the book which was in the last few chapters.

This was really good. It starts off with a bang, mellows out a bit, and then gets angsty toward the end, but it was a satisfying end, so it's all good.

This is a Beth Kery story, so there's lots of sex, and Everett has dominant tendencies, so there's lots of tying up and such, but it worked for me.

Joy is an artist and teacher, and she sometimes helps her uncle, a special effects makeup extraordinaire, on his movie shoots. When we start out, she's been asked to touch up a tattoo on what she thinks is one of the extras. She's just found out she has cancer (her mother died of cancer), and she's unsure of her future, but she's concentrating on her work when she realizes her subject has become aroused by what she's doing. He tells her he's sorry and to ignore it, but the work takes a sensual turn for her at that point. Once the tattoo is complete, she asks if he "minds", and he can only shake his head while she frees his erection from his pants and sucks him off. It's completely out of character for her, but she felt an instant connection, and she doesn't know what the future brings, so she's taking what she wants right now. They were to meet up later, but they weren't specific about where, so each thinks the other decided against meeting.

Fourteen months later, the movie premiere is happening in Chicago, where Joy moved after her treatments. I'm not sure why the premiere is in Chicago, but it was convenient to the story. :-) A chance meeting with Everett and his sister, Katie, allows them to be reintroduced. Remember, Joy didn't know it was Everett under all that makeup, so she's a bit flabbergasted when he knows her name and reveals he was the stranger. Now that he's found her, he's not anywhere near ready to let her go again.

The problem is two-fold: Everett is super down-to-earth, but Joy can't imagine fitting into his world, long-term, so she's just going with the flow, expecting it to end. Plus, she's petrified of a relapse, and she doesn't want anyone to have to watch her go through what she watched her mother go through. Thankfully, Everett is not easy to shake off. He's sweetly (sexily) persistent, and in the end, Joy finally gives in to the inevitable. Sweet, sexy story.

hard to rate for me. but i think im going to go with a 3.5

This book centers around a painter in her late twenties named joy. She lends a hand to her uncle by body-painting an extra on the set of a new movie. Little did she know, this "extra" was actually the star of the movie and overall A-list celebrity , everett. A personal hardship and year and half-later, Joy meets everett again when he's in town for the movie premiere. However, everett has never forgotten the sad beauty who turned his world upside down for one day and he's determined to not let her out of his sight again, despite joy's best tries.

I really enjoyed this book but i felt more should have happened. I understand they had a strong physical chemistry but i felt that they moved faster than someone with Joy's hangups would have.

The sex scenes were where i think this book really shone. where the said relationship may have lacked, their sexual interactions did not. It had very slight bdsm qualities which was surprise but a welcome one. it made each scene new and refreshing, hardly repetitive which was a relief.

all in all, i didn't give it a full 4 stars because well though i may have enjoyed it, it's not a book that will have me thinking about it past this review or considered a potential re-read. I'm happy it's in my "read" shelf though.

This book is part of a series called One Night of Passion.
They are stand alone books but you get more of couples you have read about.
I read the first chapter at the end of Captured by you and was hooked.
I was a bit disappointed in Joy's description or should I say lack of, I couldn't get a mental picture of her however Everett she was throughly described down to his skin. Besides my sad vision of Joy it really is a hot steamy juicy book. Joy is so guarded and I could totally see where she was coming from as I think I may be the same way if I was in her shoes. It's a sad lonely road that Joy is on and Everett is just the man to break thru to her and
change her mind on the path she has chosen.
Will she listen? well you have to read it I can't spoil it for you.
Definintly a page turned with a lot of Hot Sex throughout!
Ending was Fabulous!

I would love to hear your thoughts about the ending however.
There is a statement made by Everett that makes be believe a seed was planted. He also makes another statement at the very end but nothing is confirmed so I am not sure Arggh.
I don't want to give it away but pay attention!

Had to to think about how I felt about this book. I liked it, but I still feel like a lot was missing from the narrative that, in the end, made it unsatisfactory as a whole. Not to get into the whole argument about the definition of "romance" and "erotica" but in my personal opinion this book falls firmly into the later category. I never felt like I got a grip on the relationship itself because most of their milestone moments came during sex. I'm really not even sure that their HEA will work since we rarely saw them outside the bedroom. Didn't really get why the two were attracted to each other to begin with except for the sex. Yeah, it was a nice read and I understood where the author was going, but in the end I just didn't connect with it. I did like how the author explored a serious cancer plot line in a way I haven't seen it before in modern romantic fiction though.

TLDR: More sex than character arc, but still a good read.

I'm new to Beth Kery's books - Exposed to You is only the second I've read - but thankfully she has a tremendous backlist for me to read through.

I absolutely loved Exposed to You. The characters are very well established, so they feel like actual people - something that's critical for me to enjoy erotic romance. The heroine has battled terrible health issues on her own (her choice, as she didn't want her loved ones to suffer with her), and her fear of her illness returning leads her to act in ways with the hero that she otherwise can't imagine.

The hero, a famous movie star, is one of the kindest, most devoted and down-to-earth alpha heroes I've ever read - again, something I really love. The emotion between them cranks up the heat. The sex scenes are erotic because of the intense emotional tension.

Really recommend this novel. I read the digital version, and I'll be buying the print version as soon as it comes out in the UK.

Just wasted my time…

If you think, that “Exposed to You” is centered on Everett being big movie star, then you are wrong. He could have been a plumber for all that matters and the plot would still be the same.
The plot is build on Joy’s problems .

This is how the book went:
1st chapter – Joy and Everett first meeting
2nd chapter – Joy and Everett second meeting

Last chapter – mild drama, Joy and Everett solved their problem, happy end.

What was in the middle of this book? I can’t really answer this. And not because I don’t remember, but because nothing important for the plot happened (except for some sex scenes).

I didn’t care for the characters, I didn’t care for the story and most of the time I was bored out of my mind.

Holy Hell, the BJ scene in the first chapter was HOTTT!!!

For a moment, she just stared.

It was like holding life in her hand....

...She abandoned herself to the voluptuous, eternal moment, escaping into it like a fugitive from a harsh meaningless world.

and if it were on this chapter alone, I'd rate it 4.5 stars.

I don't know, but the book felt to me as a lot of filler with a couple gratuitous sex events thrown in-- it was just ok. I found it predictable and unbelievable, even in a fantasy world that features a regular girl who gets with the movie star.

Good book with great steamy, sensual love scenes. However, not sure it was par with some of the other offerings by Ms. Kery. Just really did like or dislike the H/h . Just kind of muhhh whatever.

Oh and just a side note get out your thesaurus because your going to need it. IMO this book was a bit heavy on 25¢ words.
