This novel "living life out loud" written by Kay Douglas is 22 short stories about 22 New Zealand women who have done incredible, inspiring things to benefit society. I chose to read this book because it was recommended to me from my Mum who had read it recently. I chose the three most interesting stories from the book. these stories were about Sonja Davies, Judi Grace and Barbara Koziarski. This novel falls into the category of three poems or short stories from one anthology.

Each of these short stories contain the life of an incredible women. After reading what they have experienced i have learnt how important staying positive is. For example Sonja Davies during a very busy part of her life she got told she was diagnosed with cancer. Sonja kept telling her self that she was going to make it and that everything was going to be alright."i think it's true that if you believe you're going to be alright you will be!" Sure enough after two successful operations she came through as healthy as ever. This story was one of the many throughout the book and it is so inspiring to read about. After reading about these amazing women i have decided that staying positive is the key to success.

My favorite quote was said by Judi Grace at the beginning of her story "if you give out energy and warmth and generosity it comes back to you." i think i like this quote so much because it is what i was told when q was a child. Treat people how you want to be treated.people now days tend to forget how little things like this can make such a big impact on friendship.

This anthology is a great novel filled with stories of 22 role models. Each of these women showed courage and perseverance. After reading this i am proud to be called a New Zealander.

A very interesting book. I love the conversational style of this book. But I did find at times I was thinking "so you have to cone from a difficult background where you think fuck you I will succeed if you are going to achieve something." I know this isn't true and isn't what people were trying to say. But it did seem to be a recurring theme. Anyway. Overall great. Simple. And useful.
