Musician, Author, Web Designer...but of all those thing the most important is FATHER!
This book was very badly edited. It was very hard to follow the story because apparently the chapters were all scrambled up. In one chapter a character was killed by zombies but two chapters later he was alive again. Another character finds herself with her infant brother and 2 other characters in a gun shop then in the very next chapter the baby is found by a completely different character, in a car alone in his car seat. What???!!! There is no continuity at all and I stopped trying to follow the story line half way through. Unless this is drastically changed and re-edited, I wouldn't recommend it.
The theme of this book is "unoriginal and trying too hard". A good author is able to create a sense of place without needing to constantly remind you; in this book Towle had a bad habit of restating "Green Bay, Wisconsin" with an unnecessary and annoying frequency. We get it, part of the book takes place in Green Bay. If you want to remind your readers of a location there are less annoying ways to do it.
The plot of this book wasn't copy and paste from anything else I've read but it was just plain dull. I didn't feel connected to the characters, there were multiple plot threads which were all left without any sense of closure, and if this book had been any longer I doubt I would have finished it.
