'Longing' is book two in the 'Orgasmic Texas Dawn' series and I was really looking forward to getting back to Kieran, Jubilee, and the whole cast of characters in the small town of Lone Trail, Texas. Kieran is an ex-undercover narcotics detective from Canada and Jubilee is a US Marshall, two hot, and exciting cops battling drug wars and their lust for each other. I loved that this book picked up, literally, right after book one ended. And, of course, as I'm beginning to realize is to be expected with these two authors, this story started off with a bang! Another dead alligator autopsy, more body parts, more deceit in the Marshal service, and a whole lot more of the crazy going on.

Seems that there are some people who suspect more than the marshals of being dirty, and Sheriff DePriest is suspended pending investigation and poor Kieran is made sheriff. *snort* Since Jubilee's boss is also suspended, he is put in charge of the district until everything can be sorted out. This, of course, throws these two smack into the middle of a giant mess with deputies disappearing, no clue whom they can trust, electronic bugs being found all over both of their offices, and still no idea what they're doing about their attraction. The fact that it would appear half of the law enforcement in the county is on the payroll of a major drug cartel out of Dallas with roots in Asia, isn't helping matters either.

For Kieran, discovering his dad, who left when he was a little boy, is the go-to guy for the cartel in the county, comes as really no big surprise. I felt bad for Kieran though to have to deal with his nasty dad knowing that one of them wasn't going to make it out alive. In the romance department, Kieran and Jubilee are scrambling to get some alone time together, while trying to each deal with the fact they might be in love. Kieran gets mad at himself because he really doesn't need to fall in love again and get his heart broken. Not to mention that Jubilee is never coming out of this closet in this little town. Whereas Jubilee is trying to understand why he's having such intense a reaction to Kieran, well, besides the obvious. *grins*

I think one of the main reasons I'm really enjoying these books is because the writing style reminds me of the old westerns and I was hooked on those as a little girl. There is so much action in these books, but everything is, pretty much, not a big deal, no muss no fuss. I like that! I like Kieran and Jubilee, too, a lot. This story had plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up until the end!

The continuing story of Jubilee and Kieran.
This book takes up where book 1 leaves off. They are still investigating the drug cartel and fighting the attraction between.
Kieran is out but Jubilee, coming from and living in Texas is in the closet and throughout the book Kieran has difficulties with Jubilee being in the closet. Both men love each other bu Jubilee is unwilling to open the doors.
I liked this second book. The mystery continued to grow and I liked the development of the relationship between the 2 men.
I will definitely read book 3.

2.5 Stars - Well... I wanted to like it more than I did. This story picks up immediately where book 1 left off, but it seems like feelings are stronger than they were. I love yous are thought far too soon and yet the actions don't match.

The women in this book are all criminals, whores, bitches or victims (other than Jubilee's sister), and half the police are corrupt or inept, except for the super cop Keiran and Marshal Jubilee. The plot is convoluted and I was confused with all the players at times.

On to of that the editing was poor, with prostrate in stead of prostate, names being mixed up, and words missing.

I love that it keeps me on my feet, but it's not too confusing (very important when your up reading at 2:30 in the a.m. cause you can't put the damn book down!). 3:00a.m...on to the next...(and yeah, I've gotta work tomorrow!).

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one. The mystery failed to intrigued me and I was struggling to like Kieran here. Jubilee on the other hand was too clingy for my comfort.

"Longing," the second installment in the "Orgasmic Texas Dawn" series by AJ Llewellyn and Dan Manly, is a thrilling continuation that dives deeper into the perilous world of Lone Trail, Texas. This audiobook, masterfully narrated by Michael Dean, enhances the gripping narrative with his rich and compelling voice work.

Canadian cop Kieran Fox and U.S. Marshal Jubilee Mason are back and face an escalating threat as they battle a cartel trafficking dangerous, home-brewed drugs. The plot thickens with Kieran's heart-wrenching discovery that his own father might be entangled in the cartel's operations. This revelation shakes Kieran to his core, creating a web of distrust that complicates his and Jubilee's mission.

The chemistry between Kieran and Jubilee continues to simmer, their mutual attraction intensifying despite the chaos surrounding them. The authors skillfully portray their emotional struggle, making the reader feel Kieran's internal conflict—whether to surrender to his feelings for Jubilee or to keep his distance to protect his heart.

Michael Dean's narration is a standout, capturing the essence of each character with precision. His performance adds depth to the suspenseful moments and brings out the emotional nuances in Kieran and Jubilee's relationship, making the audiobook a truly immersive experience.

The narrative is fast-paced and filled with twists, keeping the listener on the edge of their seat. The tension between personal and professional dilemmas adds layers of complexity to the storyline, making it a rich and engaging read.

"Longing" is a compelling follow-up that not only advances the overarching plot but also delves deeper into the characters' psyches. It’s a must-listen for fans of the series and anyone who enjoys a well-crafted mix of suspense, drama, and romance.

I am loving this series. The relationship between Kieran and Jubilee is hot and real and heartwrenching. They need to be together. The case they are trying to break became pretty complicated at one point and there were an awful lot of players and twists to keep track of. But it is a good story-line, exciting, full of action, and fast paced.

My two new favorite cops are back – and the ride is just as wild as in the first installment of their adventure. The combination of a Canadian ex-undercover cop who had an ill-advised affair with a drug lord and is now lying low in Texas, and an American US Marshal goes from strength to strength in this second book. Sure, they have their moments, but they are each good at what they do, so working a case together should not be too problematic – that is the theory, at least.

Jubilee has battles to fight both on the personal front and in his professional life. His ex-fiancée, Darlene, may be a marshal, but she doesn’t get the message, or has "a thing for gay men", whichever one it is, she was a constant thorn in my side. Jubilee manages to fight her off as he is very clear about his preferences and the one for Kieran just keeps growing. Professionally, the situation with the drug cartel gets a lot worse, and Jubilee is more than grateful for Kieran's help. At least he can trust the man, which is more than he can say for some of his colleagues.

Kieran may have decided to take the assignment in Texas to get away from the mess he left behind after his affair with the drug lord, but becoming Lone Trail's sheriff is another matter. Or is it? In the end, whatever it takes to solve the case and get the bad guys is good enough for him, so he jumps into his newest adventure head first and finds he has energy to spare. He will need more than that to deal with the revelation that his long-lost father may be one of the criminals…

The amazing cast of supporting characters is back as well. Ranging from hilarious to so annoying I wanted to strangle them, they add a unique flavor to Jubilee and Kieran's story. The highly entertaining banter between Kieran and Jubilee is as wonderful as their more tender moments. If you're looking for the hot continuation of the first volume, more unique characters, a new mystery to solve, and new criminals to catch, then this might be the book for you.

I received a copy of this book from the authors for a donation I made to a charitable project they worked on. I got to choose two books and I chose this one and the sequel. There was no expectation for any kind of review, let alone a positive one.

This is a difficult review. I loved this story and the sequel, which have to be read together because this ends on a cliffhanger. I loved the book and yet it wasn't very well written. (The sequel was FAR better.) The writing was choppy and inconsistent throughout. There were massive info dumps, especially at the beginning. The plot was confusing and difficult to follow as it starts within hours of the first book ending with almost nothing explained except what was obvious and didn't need explaining.

I love the interactions between the MCs and I really felt their pain, but Jubilee was a little too intense, almost simpering. It didn't fit his character at all, especially how closeted he is. (Oh, and even though it's pitch dark in that closet of his, their not very careful at all. People overhear things and this is a tiny town, but they're surprised if anyone figures them out.

It's cool that the authors are up on the latest drugs (at the time the book was written). Bath Salts are just hell and kids are dying using them because they're so inconsistently made, but for such a tiny town, there sure is a lot of cartel action. Are cartels at all involved with bath salts? they were never directly implicated here for that but people who worked with the cartels also dealt bath salts.

Anyway, the book wasn't very good at all, but I loved it. I would give it four stars for enjoyment, one and a half for writing, and then there was that evil cliffhanger. Thank goodness I had the next one since they're out of print right now due to the whole Silver Publishing debacle. So three stars. The next one is four stars though. So don't let my less than stellar review of a less than stellar book keep you from reading.
