I have worked from home as a freelancer for more than 16 years, but I'm always leery of talk of jobs that allow employees to telecommute. So when I saw the subtitle claiming to list 200 jobs Fortune 500 and other companies, I was a little skeptical. However, when I started reading, my skepticism disappeared, and I became enthusiastic.

The book is broken down into categories by type of work, then within the categories, individual companies are listed with information of their telecommuting jobs and policies. One company can be listed in several categories, in which case the primary category lists detailed information, and the listings in the other categories refer back to the main entry.

The author is careful to emphasize that the listings are for companies that hire employees to work from home in the categories. However, the listing does not indicate a current job opening.

She does give detailed information on how to find job listings. She describes if jobs are listed on the company website or an external job site, and if so, which one. The descriptions include such details as what link to click on a page to get to the right category. In some cases, she explains that the companies don't advertise work from home positions, but that they do offer employees the opportunity to work from home under certain circumstances. And she gives suggestions on how you can approach a manager to negotiate the opportunity to work from home. If employees are required to work in the office on certain days or to attend meetings, that information is included in the listing. In many cases, the listings include the qualifications required and the pay range.

The author invites readers to contact her if the information in the book is inaccurate. Obviously, things are constantly changing. She strives to keep the information current, but if she hasn't made an update and a reader finds erroneous or outdated information, she asks them to contact her so she can correct the listing.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a full-time or part-time job working from home.

Like many of the other reviewers, I was initially skeptical of this subject, due to all the schemes and scams out there.
However, this book isn't a get rich quick scheme. Evans carefully and thoroughly outlines the best work from home businesses that are legit.
For example she examines the company's track record, their current assets(cash) and a very important factor-where they're headquartered. In other words if they're located in say Nigeria, that's an obvious red flag.
Due to changing economic and labor conditions, more and more people are choosing or have come to the realization that telecommuting- working from home make sense both monetarily and psychologically.
All the links to home based businesses have been verified by the author and she even lets you contact her, if a URL becomes outdated. The types of businesses are categorized since some may prefer a call center type of environment in their home as opposed to say bookkeeping or data entry. Many of the firms will have familiar names, such as Amex,Walgreens and Met Life- yet many people including myself didn't realize that they hire home based independent contractors to deal with many customer service issues.
So if you're apprehensive of ordering this e-book. Don't be,you won't be steered to sites asking you for money, nor be directed to companies with no history or assets behind them. The book is a comprehensive directory with a short description of the their sector and the type of work they outsource to people who prefer to work on their own schedule from the comforts of their home.

Killer Work from Home Jobs does a fine job of outlining the benefits of working from home for both employee and employer. Lee Evans provides an extensive list of reputable companies that MAY provide work-at-home opportunities and also gives the reader a good deal of information about those companies. (Of course, jobs come and go, so there are no promises regarding current openings at these companies.) Depending on the skills you possess, you may be able to find your niche in one of these companies...at least this book will get you thinking. Accounting, customer service, sales, insurance, transcription, data entry, tutoring, editing, and marketing are among the many skills that can be successfully delivered from your at-home office.

Having worked from home for the past 6 to 7 years, I read this book with the an eye on giving some pointers to a much younger brother. I think he makes some relevant points, not quite sure why he needed to sell the concept so extensively. The book certainly offers some good pointers and looking up a few of the listed companies gave me a good idea where to look and what businesses are looking for.

Evans explains the advantages and pitfalls of working at home, then gives an extensive list of businesses that use work- at-home employees. Categorized to make your search simpler. Every business researched for you ahead of time. A very nice resource.

I was seeing double

The book had some great resources. However the author kept repeating some of the same companies in different categories. That annoyed me more than anything. I saw the same company listed 3 times.
