Worm
Teased and timid, William Randall Monro, Worm to everyone who knows him, can't even stand up for himself. Bullied since grade school, 17-year-old Worm is close to the breaking point. When his mom's latest boyfriend crosses the line, Worm decides to take a stand. He's finally realized he's got nothing to lose.
Worm's larger story is told in a series of three novellas (about 10-15k words each). At times stark and often jarring, this foray into the inner life of William Randall Monro adds a psychological layer to contemporary urban fiction and speaks to the harsh reality that many victims of sexual assault and bullying endure. (Adult content, including incidents of abuse, strong language, sexual themes, and violence.)

"He had nowhere to go and the rest of his life to get there."
"Worm" is a gritty, dark novella about William Randall Monro aka Worm. It is a too believable tale of abuse - physical, sexual, emotional - and of bullying.
Born to a 13 year old mother, Worm starts out in many foster homes before his mother turns 18 years old and finally gets custody of him. Abused by the people that should be taking care of him, Worm goes through life with a series of low life men his mother brings home until she finally marries one of the worst.
The story reads very true to life and because of that is difficult to read sometimes. NOTE: There is language, abusive situations, and violence in this book. I would definitely not recommend for younger readers.
Well written and compelling, I just wish "Worm 2 - Breakdown" and "Worm 3 - Break Even" were already published. They are mentioned by the author at the end of this novella. I want to know what happens to Worm.
