Though she was one of the hottest new models in the country, Maybelline Anderson was suspicious when her agent informed her that she was wanted for the cover of a successful new men's magazine. She was scheduled for a meeting with the magazine's publisher Teegan James but first, May wanted to know if her face was the only thing he wanted on the cover. Teegan thought May was far more beautiful in person and she was just as captivated by the young publisher. If only he weren't a painful reminder of someone from her past, she could've easily been swept away. Still, there was a mutual attraction neither could deny. The more they were together the stronger it became until their best intentions to avoid the inevitable quickly became reality.

SPOILER ALERT. Teegan James, a successful workaholic, who’s wealthy and sexy as hell. Oh yeah, he’s conceited and arrogant, too. Maybelline Anderson, a beautiful model who came from a modest upbringing. She is stubborn as a mule and damaged. Erykah Badu would call her a bag lady. Can an alpha male and bag lady make a love connection? Altonya Washington provided an author’s note. “This is my second romantic effort.” With that being stated, it’s safe to assume this is one of her earlier works that she decided to publish via Kindle. In my honest opinion, this short story was GOOD for a second writing effort. A little off review, but that’s what I liked most about this short story. The author took her back log and published it instead of letting it sit on her computer. GENIUS . Overall, it was a good short story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. It was very well written and grammatically error free. Most of the story, I found myself wondering if Teegan and Maybelline were going to make a love connection or kill each other. There was way too much tension between the lovers. The chemistry was forced. Teegan kept me reading because I loved his persistence. This dude. I loved the overall premise of the story. A previous relationship keeps Maybelline from moving into a new relationship with Teegan. The two get there in the end, rather quickly, but Teegan proposed.
