For the past eleven years, Reverend J. Amanda King served as an anointed and powerful leader for the women's ministry of Faith Tabernacle Church. Though thousands of women have been blessed by her leadership, J. Amanda is most fond of the ministry she built with five of her sorority sisters. To them she is more than a spiritual leader and counselor. She is their sister and true friend.
The bond of the sisterhood is tested when J. Amanda's old flame, "Hunky" Crawford, resurfaces and pleasant memories of their life together seem more appealing than the one she shares with her husband, David. In time, J. Amanda remembers why she ultimately chose David over Hunky, but is she too late? Hunky exposes secrets that threaten to destroy J. Amanda's relationship with her husband and line sisters forever and lead to a startling death.
Will J. Amanda salvage her relationships and get her life back on track, or will she give up on God and accept the consequences for turning her back on her faith?

A sisterhood of sorority sisters is tested in Tender To The Touch by Nicole Rouse. J. Amanda, Jasmine, Tionna and Zora are dealing with different issues that will test all of their friendships. J. Amanda is the leader of her women’s ministry at her church. J. Amanda is supposed to lead by example but this is proven harder than it seems. When an old boyfriend comes into the picture, J. Amanda starts questioning everything about her marriage and life. She also has to worry about losing the respect of her sorority sisters.

Jasmine has tried to mend the friendship with Tionna after sleeping with her boyfriend. Jasmine is now married to that boyfriend, Brian and regret is starting to set in. Brian had changed and Jasmine does not know how long she will be able to stay. After an altercation in front of her children occurred, Jasmine will have to get the courage to stay enough is enough. Will she make that decision?

Tionna has moved past Jasmine’s betrayal and is focusing on her daughter with ex-boyfriend, Brian. At Brianna’s party, Tionna realizes there is dysfunction in Jasmine and Brian’s marriage. When her daughter informs her of an incident between Brian and Jasmine, Tionna becomes concerned and decides to be there to support her friend.

Dr. Zora Thomas is working on her first novel. To the average outsider, Zora’s life is perfect. Zora is dealing with issues of starting a family. Reggie, Zora’s husband wants to start a family as soon as possible but Zora doesn’t believe they are ready. The battle is wearing Zora out and she knows it is hurting their marriage. Will Zora give in to Reggie’s demands?

Tender To The Touch is about secrets, family, forgiveness and friendships. The author does a wonderful job expressing what is done in the dark will be brought to light. These characters are ones that readers can relate to as well as their issues. This book had drama, secrets, a little suspense but also had a message of how powerful friendship and relationships can be. I recommend this book to others.

The back cover copy of Nicole Rouse’s Tender To The Touch promises a fast-paced thrill ride of epic proportions, filled with shocks and secrets: it did not disappoint.

Reverend J. Amanda King lives for women’s ministry, both as head of the women’s ministry at her church and for her five Eta Omicron Pi line sisters. She is the glue that holds them together; when her life begins to unravel, all of them feel the effects.

Each woman has her own family related issues, woven together around the backdrop of J. Amanda’s struggles with her public image vs. her private issues. The strong bond of sisterhood between J. Amanda and her line sisters is built on love and friendship, but also on long-hidden secrets. As a member of a Greek letter organization myself, I understand and appreciate the depth of the bond between these six women, and the hurt they can potentially cause one another when they allow their personal issues (ranging from marital infidelity to domestic abuse to strained marriages to fear of loving again) to drive a wedge between them and to threaten their twenty-plus years bond of friendship.

I enjoyed following this saga from new revelation to new revelation. My only complaint with this book is that there was not enough room within these pages to fully develop all of these compelling characters. I hope to see a sequel to this book in due time, and look forward to reading more by this author.

Nicole Rouse has truly captured the bonds of sisters through sorority life in her book. It's a great bond especially when you have women who don't have sisters of their own. She also touches on so many other topics that affects us in our everyday lives in this Christian novel. Who hasn't been in a (grass is greener) scenario or know something who was in that situation before? This book shows how the past can come back in a way to bite you in the bum. The book is filled with secrets, betrayal, drama, lies, acts of support, friendships and much more. The ladies in this book really get tested and have their friendships put to the test. It's a great read and I would recommend it for a book club selection.

Great book that really explores all the intricate relationships among African American women and their partners. Although the story line is fairly predictable I appreciated the struggles that were brought out as women, mothers, Christians , wives and friends. Would recommend , easy fast read completed in two days.

To be honest I wasn't really win over by this book. The characters and plot didn't really align with what I like in a Christian novel. The ladies in this book seemed to lose sight of their faith and never really get it back.
