This book sounded promising. The plot is good. The characters, by themselves, are relatable and in some cases understandable. When it came to each other, it didn't make sense. Scott seems like a smart guy. Why was he taken in? Why did he let her get so close? There were huge red flags. But I'm not quite sure why there was so much unnecessary detail, I felt the book could have been a lot shorter without compromising anything. Now, I enjoy a good story but this was too far-fetched even for me! The series probably gets better as it goes on but I'm going to stop with this book as it just wasn't for me.
I love this series! I had to read them all in one sitting cause I had to know what was going on, and then I couldn't sleep when I finished. Now I have to wait for the 5th episode due out in April. This is really old fashioned, heart stopping suspense.
I loved the whole storyline! Definitely a great message with the social media being such a big hit with a lot of people. I couldn't stop reading for I wanted to see Scott's fate.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR ALL PARTS OF FACEBOOK STALKER!!!!
This could have been really good had it not been for all the mistakes that went with it. I don't understand why Meany felt the need to constantly repeat people's full name and how they are related to Scott. Also I think after the third time of telling the reader that Scott was a best selling romance novelist, the reader may have just remembered that Scott was in fact a best selling romance novelist. I found this book to also be over descriptive. The mistakes outweighed the story unfortunately.
Honestly I would have given a better review/rating had there not been as many grammatical errors in this novel. I truly did like this book, perhaps this is one of the authors first few he has written. The story itself is quite good! But the missing words, typos, and other grammatical errors really bothered me. I won’t hold it against him, I’m definitely going to read more from him but for a published author, I guess I just expected more.
I like this story. It kept me entertained and wanting more!! I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!! I would recommend this to anyone who loves a fast paced read!!
Good start this woman is pyscho for sure can't wait to see what happens to her. I can see this happening in the real world with social media starting it all.
I thought the plot was great. But the story is unbelievable. It was a little too far fetched. Sadly I don't think I will be reading anymore in this series.
Title: Facebook Stalker Author: John Meany Series or Standalone: Novella Series (Facebook Stalker #1) Rating: 3 Stars ***
Review:
Facebook Stalker Episode One is the first installment in the three part Facebook Stalker novella series and follows the characters of Scott Howard (a bestselling author) and the stalker who loved him Lori Dalton.
I’ve been in a mood for something that reads a little different lately, so coming across this book randomly on Amazon, I picked it up. The blurb alone jumped out at me because as an author and one who uses social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter to connect with fans of my writing, this seemed like an interesting and original plot and I was eager to see where the author took it.
The idea of interacting with your fans and one day coming across one that believed themselves to be your biggest, interacting with them away from the others on a more personal level and having them take things too far until you’re caught up in a sick and twisted game of their own design….well count me in.
The problem for me with this story wasn’t the plot, it wasn’t even the flow and pacing. It was the lack of character consistency. They both came across hollow, though I will admit, I did seem to connect more with Lori than I did with Scott. I suppose in a way, her not being consistent worked better for me because of who she was and what she was attempting to do. The crazy person shouldn’t appear completely coherent of course, but I expected more from Scott. Having him go from doubting Lori’s sanity to a few pages later fooling around with her and taking her to bed, it just confused the hell out of me and at times made me want to stop reading.
But, forge ahead I did despite the issues I began to have while reading because if there’s one thing I know about a novella series, the first book is always going to be a hit or miss with readers. You want people to read the entire story, which means investing them just enough in continuing on and while I did have issues with the characters in this book, the pacing and the amount of information given at points kept me planted. The overall idea, I wanted to see it used to its potential and while that didn’t happen a lot in the first book, it did happen by the end of the third one, which you’ll see in subsequent reviews.
Overall this was a solid book. Based on the idea alone I wanted to love this more than I did, but I still did enjoy it and was invested enough by the end to go ahead and purchase and devour both other books because I needed to know how it ended.
This book won’t be for everyone, but if you like a little crazy in your reading, things that could easily be real (and in some cases are), yet are totally out of this world at the same time, well this is for you.
This review is for all three books in the Facebook Stalker series. Scott Howard is a best selling romance novelist. He meets Lori Dalton a fan on Facebook. A playful online relationship starts they are messenging each other via Face book. And even emailing . But Lori is taking this relationship more series than Scott, Scott had recently broken up with his long time live in girlfriend.Lori decides to travel too Scott,s home town to meet and visit him, with out letting him know she just shows up one day. Scott is surprised to say the least but he decides to give it a chance. When they run into Scott,s ex girlfriend on the boardwalk while they are riding bikes , he realizes he still love's her and he wants her back. He tells Lori the relationship is over, he just looked at the relationship with her as a friend with benefits type thing, Lori thought marriage. She begins to stalk him and when him and his ex decide to try again. Lori decides the ex must disappear for good. So when Scott's ex mysteriously disappears , of course all attencion is on Scott as he was the last to see her alive.A truly fascinating read, all the characters are well written. I truly felt bad for Scott all the mind games Lori played on hi. I just wish it could of had a happier ending.Stalking , murder you just never know what lengths an obsessed person will go to to get the person or the life that they want or feel they deserve.
Loved this series!!! It's short, but good enough to keep you reading and especially good enough to make you think you're going to sleep at night when all you want to do is keep reading!!
Another reason for not doing Facebook! Although I enjoyed this book I found myself getting irritated by the naivety of Scott. Two more books to read in the series will hopefully explain this.
