Rachel Daniels made it out of the cursed canyon alive. But she was forced to leave behind the man... vampire... who saved her and the one friend she still has hope survived the car wreck that took two others.
Now, back in the real world, Rachel has a choice to make. Does she go back to life as she knew it, forgetting everything she thinks she learned in that canyon, or does she accept that the impossible is true – that vampires are real and she is in love with one?
Cameron Renault knows Rachel doesn’t belong in his world and to keep her safe he’s willing to walk away, but will the rogue werewolf pack that has taken over Crystal City let him?
Claimed is the third short story in the Lost series of vampire romances. If in print it would be about 75 pages long.
Lori Devoti grew up in southern Missouri and attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism. She, however, made it clear to anyone who asked, she was not a writer; she worked for the dark sideadvertising. Now twenty years later, shes proud to declare herself a writer and visit her dark side occasionally by writing dark, sensual paranormal romance, urban fantasy and young adult novels.
Lori lives in Wisconsin with her husband, daughter, son, Siberian husky and shepherd/puggle cross.
Claimed is book three in the Lost series of novellas by Lori Devoti. Every one of these just keeps getting better and better. I am loving them.
Rachel has safely made it back to campus. The authorities have retrieved the two dead sorority sisters that died in the crash but Nancy is still missing. Rachel has no idea if she is alive or dead. She isn’t sure what to believe of what she experienced when Cameron saved her in the canyon. Was he really a vampire or was it just her mind playing tricks on her? Could she have imagined what she saw?
Cameron wants to keep his promise to find Rachel and let her know that Nancy is safe. But how will Rachel react to seeing him again now that she knows what he is? Will what they felt in the canyon still be there or will she be afraid of him?
“He’d never believed his destiny included happiness or love before. He shouldn’t have let her words in the canyon, when she was stressed and desperate, change that. But he had, idiot that he was.”
We are introduced to a new character. Bryce, who is a werewolf. I hope we get to see more of him. Once again, Rachel, Cameron, Nancy and Dorian are forced to fight for their lives. And something happens that will again change Rachel’s future forever. Will Rachel and Cameron be strong enough to overcome all the obstacles they are forced to face? I can’t wait to find out in book four.
Good series. Hope there's more. 3/2014: Just re-read since i discovered theres a book #4. Rachel is "safe" & back at school but her 2 soroity sisters died in the forest & Nancy is still missing. Cameron returns,as promised, to let her know Nancy survived & is with his brother. Then a stranger arrives and chaos seems to return. Rachel is forced to acknowledge that vampires & werewolves exist...in a not so happy reality check.
This is book 3, I felt that it needed more, once I read book 4 I realised that what this needed was fulfilled within book 4. The Lost books to date are best read in pairs. Excellent books, excellent story. Loved it.
I gave the entire series five stars! Character development, though simplistic, fit perfectly. The story moved quickly and flowed beautifully from book to book - I should say from short story to short story, which these are. There was the prerequisite conflicts between vampire and werewolf, between brothers, then father and son, and of course the internal emotional conflict. The 'romance' wasn't over-the-top, more love story rather than graphic/soft porn as so many in this genre seem to be. I truly hope the author will continue this series.
