From the author of the Otherworld Trilogy . . . Three scenes from Faelorehn, told from Cade’s point of view.
A Single Thread of Magic
Cade MacRoich is Ehríad, a faelah bounty hunter. When he is compelled to deal with a collection of particularly nasty monsters in the mortal world, he stumbles upon a stream of Faelorehn magic that leads him to something astonishing.
The Morrigan’s Game
The children of the Weald are protected by the forest’s ancient magic, but when the Morrigan’s faelah manage to break through that barrier, Cade’s sister calls upon him for help.
Broken Geis
Cade has tried in vain to forget about the alluring Meghan Elam. Unfortunately, the Morrigan’s interest in the young Faelorehn girl puts her in danger and makes Cade realize he is willing to risk everything to keep her safe.
Fantasy Author. Swordswoman. Chicken Mama. These are just a few of the titles Jenna Elizabeth Johnson proudly goes by. She is the author of over a dozen novels, novellas, and short stories, including the award-winning Legend of Oescienne series, the Otherworld series, and the Draghans of Firiehn novella series.
Besides writing fantasy adventures featuring domineering dragons, headstrong heroines, brooding Celtic warriors, and all the magical creatures in between, she is a competitive HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) practitioner, participating in longsword tournaments whenever she gets the chance.
During her down time, Jenna can be found exploring the open spaces of California’s Central Coast, camping in Yosemite National Park, reading books and webcomics, or hanging out with her flock of overly-affectionate lap chickens.
I really liked that it was from Cade's point of view. I don't know how many times I'd wanted to know the other side of the story of a book. I would have loved it if it had been the length of the full novel. The only thing which held me back a little was how quickly he fell for her. I think in my head reading it, I had expected him to have taken longer to grow into an attraction. Perhaps if it had been longer, than this story would have had the same emotional impact as the others. I think rationally he felt attracted because he was so lonely, but it still felt too easy, especially given that he's a lot older. He does act and think like a twenty-something guy though, so it makes me wonder how the faelehn age. If they're immortal, do they take longer to mature? Or, because of his being ostracized by his peers (whole society?), was his mental growth hindered because of that. He's intelligent, of course, but not very skilled socially. I'd also really like to get to know his sister better, she seems to have an interesting story.
This novella was an absolute treat and a wonderful addition to The Otherworld Trilogy.
Ehriad gives us a whole new point of view on The Otherworld books as we follow Cade from his first encounter with Meghan to his realization that he will do anything to keep her safe and, ultimately, by his side.
I loved Cade in the first two books, and this novella has only made me love him more. This book really gave his character depth. His elusive personality makes so much more sense, and at times I found myself wishing I could reach out and tell him it would all work out. However, even with his hardships, he was strong, loveable, and protective of the things he cares about. *Sigh* He might just be the perfect man.
This series just keeps getting better and better, and I cannot wait to read the last book to see how it will all unfold. If you haven’t picked up The Otherworld Trilogy by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson yet, then what are you waiting for? They are definitely worth a read.
***** I really enjoyed Ehriad, its a fantastic read and leaves you wanting more,
With some Lively & interesting characters and a few that you would never wanna come across :-)
Im kinda looking forward to finding out what happens between cade and meghan after cade recovers. would certainly recommend to anyone who loves a good book.
Was finished too quick because I enjoyed it so much lol.
I got this novella during the June 2024 Stuff your Kindle Day event and it was really nice to have the break between ARCs.
This was a really good intro into the Otherworld series. This novella were scenes taken from the point of view from the character Cade MacRoich, a Eheiah, which is a faelah bounty hunter. He is duty bound to deal with particularly nasty demons that make their way to the mortal world. One of the other things about Cade is that is also has a geis, basically like a curse, which ties him to the Morrigan, the Celtic goddess of war. The Morrigan does not play nice with Cade nor does she play favorites so she sends him out on this hunts.
When Cafe discovers a stream of Faelorehn magic coming from a mortal girl named Meghan, he does everything possible to hide it from the goddess. Only problem is that she already knows and that’s when troubles truly begins.
This was a nice change of pace from what I’ve been reading for my arc work and it made me want to check out the series. I liked the fact you got to see the character’s POV and understand why he did what he did and felt. Granted, I didn’t read the main books to see the full scope of what was going on. But, I had enough of what was happening to know that Cade is someone that had a moral obligation and choice to make when it came to Meghan. And she plays an important part later on in the story so now I have to go get the rest of the books to see from the beginning how it all started and how it all ends! Well played!
It has been a long time since I have read the Otherworld Series, and particularly Faelorehn. I wish I would have known about this book after I read the first one. There were things I didn't quite remember. However, I remember having questions after reading that one, and several of those questions were answered in this book. I probably would have given this 4 stars if it had been a little longer. There were lots of things left out that I would have been very interested in.
Excellent novella Ehriad (book 5 of the Otherworld Series) is a very well written novella with interesting well developed characters. The story line is fast moving with lots of twist and turns. The relationship of the characters is complex. I would recommend this novella for anyone looking for a quick read. Enjoy reading.
After reading the first 3 books I’m glad that I read this one. It gave me a glimpse of what Cade was doing and going through when I was reading about Meghan. Puts more depth to what is going on.
I started this book without realizing it was a series. That explains why I was kinda confused. It was really detailed and interesting! 100% recommend reading it! BRB while I go read the first series now! 😌❤️
This closely follows the story line of the first book in the series but from Cade's point of view. A Fantasy action adventure that he wants to turn into a romance.
This is my second time reading Ehriad and I love it just as much this time around! It's a great quick read. I originally read Ehriad when I read the other books in the Otherworld series.
The characters and world that Jenna has created in the Otherworld series is wonderful! I have really enjoyed this series including this novella! The world and characters just pull you in and keep you reading wanting to know more and more about them, their world, and what will happen next. The creatures and places of the Otherworld are described well, I could picture everything as I was reading. This book takes you through three "scenes" from Faelorehn (Otherworld series #1)but from Cade's perspective. I think it's a great addition to the storyline and let you see his side of things, what he's thinking, and some of the things he was doing that didn't involve Meghan. I wish there was more from Cade's perspecitve, even though you're going through some of the same story again I like seeing the different perspective and hope Jenna Elizabeth Johnson writes more from Cade.
In all honesty you should really read Faelorehn first before reading Ehriad as it would probably make more sense that way. But if you haven't read Faelorehn don't let that stop you from reading this book as it's still a great read and worth the time and introduces you to the wonderful Otherworld and characters Jenna has created. Or if you're already read all the Otherworld books but missed this one it's still worth the read. The first time I read Ehriad it was after I had read at least the first two Otherworld books, maybe all three and I still enjoyed it then and now. I highly recommend Ehriad and all the Otherworld books!
The book is part of The Otherworld series. It's three short stories from Cade's point of view that parallel book 1. But leaves out a lot of detail about the different characters. This is definitely not a good book to start the series with.
I didn't read this book till I was done with the series. Because of that, there were times I thought Cade was kind of a Jerk for disappearing for months at a time. Specially when Meghan had so many questions about who she was and where she came from.
In this book you learn why Cade was gone for so long. What other creatures he was battling in the otherworld. The different tortures that the Morrigan put him through that he never shared with Meghan.
To be honest, at first I felt a little nosy for wanting to know why Cade was gone for so long, since he obviously cared about Meghan. This story completely clears up any doubts that you may have about him. This book shows how he could be even more amazing than he already was.
This is about Cade's view at the very beginning of the Otherworld series.. where he discovers Meghan the girl from the moral world that is fae... and he is an Ehriad, a bounty hunter for the Morrigan and must report ALL creatures or capture and or kill them, but he finds himself at a crossroads with her..unlike any other fae, she posses a different aura, ONE that he is drawn to, and he slowly finds himself falling...totally awesome only as Ms. Johnson can do... she puts YOU in the drivers seat once again!! Great story in addition to Ghalien, the second part of Cade's view...
I really enjoyed this book. It is well written, smooth flowing, and easy to read. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Cade. Knowing he has the title of Ehriad, the only time we see him in action is when he was protecting Meghan. In this book, we get to see him in action, knowing what he did/does before Meghan came into the picture. Getting to see his perspective of the way things happened in previous books helped to understand the whole situation.
I recommend reading the books in order so you understand everything that is going on
I probably should have read book 1 first but I didn't realize this was part of a series. This book is from Cade's point of view.
I have a lot of questions but as I said the confusion is probably from reading the series out of order. I am intrigued enough to want to go back and read the other books (I actually do own book 1 but didn't realize it). My recommendation is to read book 1 and work your way up to this book. It isn't bad but I feel like I am missing a chunk of the story and I probably am.
I loved being able to see from Cade's point of view. This novella shows us precisely how and when he fell in love with Meghan as well as insights into his job (which for some reason I always thought was a lie). There's three different parts to this and I think they show Cade perfectly. His interactions with his sister, the Morrigan and Meghan all demonstrate the type of person he is. This book is an excellent way to see inside Cade head. I strongly suggest anyone who has read and enjoyed Faelorehn should read this book too.
Novellas are so great because you learn all those little things you wondered about during the story. I loved seeing things through Cade's eyes. He loves Meghan from the first and hides so much from her. Most of what Meghan thought about Cade was true accept when she thought he didn't like her. I highly remcommend this novella to anyone who loves Cade and wants to get into his head and heart.
I've always loved Cade's character. He is a simple guy with a complicated past. It was interesting to hear his side thoughts and then what he actually says. I do wish this could be a full novel, but after reading this story and the full novel it still filled in a lot of blanks. And yeah, made me swoon for this loveable, sexy guy that Cade is.
It was very fresh to see the version of the story from our Cade. I'd always wondered how Cade saw Meghan and what exactly had transpired from cade's point of view.
I also enjoyed the conversation between Cade and Fergus. I had wondered about fergus's personality and how the spirit guide viewed Meghan as well.

I liked the POV change to Cade, it's really great to get the other side of a story. This novella was really great, same plot but with a different perspective. I really enjoyed it and hope she writes another!
