Love is in the air! Mrs. Jenkins asks her class to celebrate Valentine's Day the nice way -- by making special valentines for everyone. There's plenty of red-hot zingers, Mount Fuji drops, peppermint hearts, and glitter to go around, making this the best Valentine's Day ever.

Rosemary Wells is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She often uses animal characters to address real human issues. Some of her most well-known characters are Max & Ruby and Timothy from Timothy Goes To School (both were later adapted into Canadian-animated preschool television series, the former’s airing on Nickelodeon (part of the Nick Jr. block) and the latter’s as part of PBS Kids on PBS).
As this is a Well's book for beginning readers I'd say its not quite up to her normally very clever and funny style. Fans of her books and characters would enjoy the story in any case.
It's Valentine's Day at Timothy's school, and he made a special Valentine for Yoko with candy hearts on it. His friend Charles made a Valentine for Lily with red-hot zingers on it. They're afraid that the girls won't like their Valentines, though. Will they? Rosemary Wells also wrote Max and Ruby, so if you enjoy that twosome, you'll definitely enjoy this book. Read this to my students for a reading after dark zoom call and ill be honest... I don't think they enjoyed it. There was nothing to grab onto. No plot line. No problem to be solved. Just a bunch of kids making valentines and each taking turns opening them. I will probably not read this to my kids again next year.
Four friends who have gifts for one another on Valentine's day but want them to be from secret admirers.
A simple story for Valentine's Day. It was less intertwining then I had expected but was simple enough for those wanting to start reading chapter books but aren't quite ready.
