Stone Cold Charade 22nd January 2013 A Stone Family Novel By Kathleen Royce
I highly recommend Stone Cold Charade, by Kathleen Royce to everyone who loves a good romance! I couldn’t put it down! It drew me in from the start! All Max wants to do is go fishing, but running Maximillion Enterprises he doesn’t have the time! So he comes up with a plan to get his granddaughters involved! The first granddaughter Max has plans for is Alexandra! Alexandra goes to her sisters ranch for a break as her career keeps her busy! Max has hired an ex-marine to help Samantha with security on the ranch, due to rustlers taking her cattle! What Alexandra doesn’t know is the ex-marine is Ty Phillips, her teenage crush that not only hurt her feelings, but that she is still in love with him! Something happens to Alex & Ty says he will stay with her to look after her & is told not to close the door or there will be consequences? The next morning the door is kicked open which wakes Alex & Ty up & standing in the room is Max with some other people to Alex & Ty’s surprise? They are then forced into a marriage Alexandra doesn’t want! Alexandra doesn’t want Ty to find out her secret so she leaves the ranch! Will Ty be able to find her or will Max stop him? I Love these types of Romance stories! I can’t wait for the next book in this series to find out which Granddaughter is next on Max’s list!
There are a few things that turns a story into a book that I treasure. Something I want to read more than once. The first is humor with romance. The kind of humor that isn’t forced and just simply falls into step with the story. The second is when you are touched by what the character is feeling …the good, the bad and the heart felt emotions. I want to get swept up in a book. I want to feel Alexandria protecting her heart. I want to be surprised by Max’s scamming. I want to see Ty grow into the man he wants to be! This book has it all. The storyline is pretty much young lovers reunited after both of them have grown up and worked to achieve goals. There is the right mix of influence from their family. And you are given enough background of family and friends to build upon the next book in the series. This book is a good read (all in one sitting too!) and I too am looking forward to the next book in this series. Please! Don’t make me wait too long!
There are not enough words for me to be able to tell you just how much I enjoyed this book. The characters are outrageously funny. They were like enjoyable friends & family members you ask into your home. Alex falls in love with Ty, at 9, Ty is 15 he becomes our hero hen he rescues her. When she is 15 she's really in love with him but can't tell him. When she's 17 he's in love with her but knows nothing can come of it due to their ages & he has nothing to offer her. So, words are spoken & actions taken that crush a young heart forever. Yet, from that growth can come from the smallest of hope & this author brings it all out. The cast of characters & the storyline is fast pace, exciting, well thought out & always heart felt. I highly recommend.
Fast paced. Good character development. A few misspelled words, but a lot less than most books I have read lately, and only 1 was distracting from the storyline.
Sometimes some of the characters where a little over the top, and some characters not well developed. I liked the story line, chapters were way too long though.
Alexandria Stone just wanted a quiet, peaceful vacation. But her grandfather, Max, is already driving her crazy with his pestering phone calls about her taking over his production company. She has enough on her plate with her band and her on stage persona, Fire. Her sister has asked for her help with setting up security for the ranch she runs and when Alex finds out that the security company owner is none other than Ty, the man who broke her heart 6 years ago, she wants nothing more than to run.
Ty can not believe that Alex is here. He wasn't sure if he would ever see her again after their last encounter. He knows that he hurt her badly when all he was doing was trying to protect her. Now she is all grown up and he wants nothing more than to make her his. If only he could teach her to trust him again.
Review: This is book one in A Stone Family Novels. The author does a great job of giving us the story of Alex and Ty and still giving us small glimpses of the other sisters' lives to set up for the other books. The grandfather, Max, is so very out of control with his manipulations, it was easy to feel sorry for Alex, her sisters and Ty. The relationship between Alex and Ty is intense and full of strong emotions. It was a great book and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, which should be out with the next week :)
I enjoyed this story; The patriarch of the family Max, was a hoot, meddling in his granddaughters lives was top of his list. This story was about Alex and Ty, who were close as kids, Ty was older then Alex and tried to be her protector and her best friend when his feelings for her turned from friendly to love and he wanted to date/marry her when her grandfather told him no way he would disown her if that happened so Ty walked away from her knowing he could not provide her the lifestyle she grew up in causing her to feel rejected by him. It took 6 years before they are reunited and all the misinformation between them keeps them from coming back together, leaving both of them miserable. I was starting to get frustrated with the lies and secrecy between the two especially when Alex abruptly leaves without talking to Ty first. The author gave us a redeeming hero when Ty goes in search of her to win her back, that was awesome. There are 5 granddaughters in this family so I look forward to reading all of their stories.
This is such a good book! The characters are exciting, deep individuals with relateable obstacles and humorous dilemas. The author's take on romance is funny, fresh, and unpredictable. I felt like I knew the characters personally and was somehow invested in their lives. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. I recommend this read to anyone, guy, gal, old, or young...it's that good. To the author: Keep them coming!
