Mostly interested in Lawrence. His first short story in this anthology made me very sad and uncomfortable. It's about a Captain who becomes abusive toward his orderly. The orderly ends up murdering the bastard.

This is a college level textbook so there are introductions and a section at the end of authors discussing their craft. nothing to get in your way of appreciating this solid selection of short stories.
The authors are well chosen as are the stories chosen to represent their work.

It is a good compilation. Perhaps Eudora Welty's stories could have been better picks, but it in its entirety, a nice Anthology.
