A woman embraces death and finds the unforseen. The Moon was Watching is a dark tale of lost love & death that blurrs the edges of reality and dream into shades of imagination.
Annelie Wendeberg likes to throw morally grey heroines into impossible situations just to watch disaster unfold. Her books have sold nearly a million copies worldwide in multiple languages through both independent and traditional publishing. When she's not writing, you can find her herding goats, making cheese, and saving owls and kangaroos from peril.
Eloquently written short story. I suppose the underlying theme is love conquers all but without a spoiler I must leave it as....I found the female main character lacking but it is a short story so who knows where she would've ended up if given expansion.
Though I am not a big fan of reading stories with a suicidal context, this was turning somehow into an erotic rescue event, by none other than the man who was thought to be dead.
I loved this short story. And have tried for an hour to write a spoiler free review. All I can say is I have been in a similar situation and heed it's lesson. B
