The prince made every woman in the kingdom try on the slipper until her found the woman in which it fit. Once Cinderella tried on the slipper and it fit the prince knew he found his bride to be. They marry and live happily ever after.
Response:I've always liked this story a lot. This is the first book I've read on an Ipad and I loved it! I like the 3D effect and how if you touch different pictures they make sounds. I also like how the Ipad gives you the option to have a narrator read the story to you. Having that option is great for beginner readers. Concept:Although I've always really liked this story it makes me sad to read how Cinderella was treated. In some cases these types of situations take place in real life. I really like the message it send to children. To never stop dreaming and believing and whatever you wish, will come true.
Classroom Connection:Having the Ipad app in the classroom would be great to introduce students to knew technology. Students can follow along with narrator to better improve their reading skills. The message that is sent through this story is important all children. To never stop believing and dreaming because anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
CCSS Range:According to lexile.com this book is a 410L. This story would be a great read-a-loud for preK-1 because the storyline and vocabulary are simple enough. If the child is struggling with trying to read on their own or don't have someone to read to them, they can have the Ipad narrator read-a-loud. I believe this book would be a good independent read for second grade and up.
Summary: Cinderella tells the story of a young girl who lives the life of kings and queens, however her life suddenly changes for the worst. Cinderella’s mom died when she was a young child and she lived with her dad for awhile, until her dad remarried and his new wife had 2 daughters from a previous marriage. Not too long after that her father died and was forced to live with her evil step mother and her 2 step sisters. Cinderella was forced to do all of the chores around the house and give up her room. One night there was a great ball and she was not allowed to go. However after her stepmother and step sisters left, a fairy godmother came along and made Cinderella pretty again and she went to the ball. However her spell was going to wear off at midnight. Cinderella hit it off with the prince however she had to abruptly leave because it was almost midnight, when she left she tripped and lost a shoe. The prince came up with a plan to find his long lost love after he found the shoe. There are many different versions of Cinderella out there; however this one compares very differently yet similar at the same time to the Grimm version. While the basic story line is the same, the version written by the brothers Grimm is not necessarily a child’s version of Cinderella. This story is gruesome and talks about the cutting off of body parts in order to try and fit the shoe. Response: I found it very interesting that there are so many different versions of Cinderella out there. I found it really interesting that there is such a gruesome version of this child’s story as well. I chose to give this a 5 star rating because of the different versions and how one can do so much with each different version even though the story line is very similar. Classroom Connection: Because there is so many different versions it could be used to teach the students that just because the stories are the same line that there is always going to versions of books out there. Also that books are forever changing, with the times. It could also be used to teach people to not give up on love. Text Complexity: I would suggest this book(s) for k-5
Summary Cinderella 3-D is read on the iPad. The story of Cinderella is a story about a young girl named Cinderella who lived like kings and queens! Sadly Cinderella’s mother died which left her father without a wife. Eventually he remarried to a woman with two daughters. The step mother and her children take over the house and make Cinderella a slave. They order her around and make her miserable. One day they received a letter to attend the grand ball where the prince will be looking for his future wife. Cinderella’s step sisters attend the ball but Cinderella was not allowed to go. As her step sisters and her step mothers were leaving without her Cinderella wished that she was able to go to the ball. With that said her fairy godmother appeared and granted her the wish! She attended the ball and danced with the prince all night, sadly though, she had to be back at midnight because that is when her fairy god mother’s magic wore off! Cinderella’s one glass slipper fell off as she was walking the stairwell for the prince to find. The prince searched the entire kingdom for the girl who lost her glass slipper. He finally after a long time of searching slipped her foot in and it was a perfect fit! The prince and Cinderella got married right away and lived happily after. Response I really liked this version especially on the iPad. I really enjoyed also that it stayed to the original version along with being very detailed and still unique. I thought though that it was different that Cinderella’s hair was orange, since when I think of Cinderella I think of a blonde haired girl. Classroom Connection The students can read different versions of Cinderella and compare and contrast them. There can also be movies watched and maybe even a play done! The students can also write up a story about what would they do if they had one wish and their magic lasted until midnight! Text Complexity I did not find any information but I think this would be grade appropriate for preK-2
This is a classic Cinderella fairy told told through a 3D adventure. Children will love playing out the story and watching on of their favorite princesses come to life. The story does actually look like it is 3D without using any type of glasses, which is pretty cool and I think children would enjoy it.
I like the feature that allows you to choose if you want to read the book yourself, or have it read to you. I think young children will enjoy using an electronic device to read this book and feel as if they are part of the story.
Classroom Connection: Students can make a venn diagram to compare a the similarities and differences between this version and another version of Cinderella they have read. The can compare it to the original Grimm version, the Disney one, or a non-European one like ones we read for this project. This requires students to pay a lot of attention to detail of the characters, the setting, and descriptions though out the stories.
