I'm an author, artist, and expert time-waster residing in South Mississippi. I've been writing and drawing for as long as I can remember. I am highly skilled at many things that have no practical use. My favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus. It's important that you know that. I'm terrible at marketing and self-promotion, so you should probably just go ahead and buy my books and save us both the embarrassment.

I totally got the good creeps from this book. Read it right around Halloween. The only horror I ever read is Stephen King, but I adored this book. You get a little bit of everything in here and I found it Kingish in the way he weaved some of the stories around. Looking forward to the novel. Great JOB!

Like any good anthology, this collection of stories gives you just enough to sink your teeth into (vampires, sink your teeth, get it??) without giving you as much as you would really want. It is an excellently written book with literally something for everybody in that it has stories in many different genres including horror, suspense and even sci-fi. The author does a great job of making all of the characters believable no matter the otherworldly locales or situations.

I immensely enjoyed all of the stories but my three favorites in the book are The Duel, The Drum and Apex Predator. My favorite character, Grant Mercer, who appears in Apex Predator left me desperately wanting to know more about what happens to him since he underwent such life-altering changes during the course of the story. I won't say anything else and give it away but I am glad to know that the author is currently working on a full length novel featuring Grant.

The author drew the cover himself which is a bonus you do not usually get in a book and there is also an afterward that tells a little more about the author, his stories and ideas. I always enjoy an afterward in a book because I always wonder about the process an author goes through in writing, motivations, inspirations and future projects.

If you enjoy Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft, this anthology is for you. I grew up on Stephen King and have always enjoyed horror and paranormal stories...these are wonderful ones. Excellent read!

This is the first work that I've read by this author and I truly enjoyed it. Nightmare Escapade is a quick read (I finished it on my kindle while traveling). One of it's many strengths is its variety. This book contains several stories of varying lengths; many are very brief - just enough to get your feet wet, so to speak, slightly creep you out, and leave you wanting more. Some of the stories reminded me of nightmares I had as a child, which gave me a sense of nostalgia and the chills! Other stories provided a unique twist on classic characters such as vampires. Still other stories were a blend of horror and fantasy. This book does have a little something for everyone. I especially recommend this book to anyone who enjoys horror and is looking for a quick and fun read. I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Nightmare Escapade is a collection of horror and dark fantasy short stories, personally I preferred the horror stories, but they were all an entertaining read. There's a reasonable mix of stories, but two of them stood out for me.

The first concerns a young boy who is convinced that something is stalking him, this story was written in a very immediate fashion that makes you part of the story. This reflects the author's style as the stories are generally quite punchy.

The other stand out story was the man camping in the woods with a mysterious drum in the dead of night. Again this had a very direct style that worked well.

Overall the stories satisfied, but I did feel that more could have been done with them. Bar a couple of exceptions they are all very short. While this shouldn't be surprising in a collection of short stories some of the stories deserved a bit more telling. The direct style of the author counts against him a little in this respect. Quite often they were over before I'd even settled into the scene.

So it's a fun read and won't take long to complete, but it would have been nice to see a bit more development within the stories, worth checking out though.
