She refuses to be owned.

Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four, where the O’Kanes rule with a hedonistic but iron fist. Lex has been at the top for years, and there’s almost nothing she wouldn’t do for the gang…and for its leader. Lie, steal, kill—but she bows to no one, not even Dallas O’Kane.

He’ll settle for nothing less.

Dallas fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. Dangers both large and small threaten his people, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. His liquor business is flourishing, and new opportunities fuel his ambition. Lex could help him expand his empire, something he wants almost as much as he wants her. And no one says no to the king of Sector Four.

Falling into bed is easy, but their sexual games are anything but casual. Attraction quickly turns to obsession, and their careful dance of heady dominance and sweet submission uncovers a need so deep, so strong, it could crush them both.

Once upon a time, two best friends decided to write paranormal romance. And while that was awesome, they also sometimes wanted to write insanely dirty stuff that wasn’t paranormal at all. This is that stuff.

Kit Rocha is the dystopian-erotic-romance writing alter-ego of writing duo Moira Rogers.

EDIT (29/3/2020): So, I was feeling a bit unwell the last couple of days, and I was not in the mood to start reading something new. Instead, I went through my e-reader looking at things I read a couple of years ago.
And while yesterday I was pleasantly surprised that I still enjoyed the first book, I have to say that this one was a bit disappointing. I realised that I prefer most of the characters in the first book. Especially Lex. And I cannot say that I really enjoyed the drama between Dallas and Lex.
Plus the "End drama" sort of did not have the impact? It just felt like a terrible decision without much thinking being involved.
So, while I left the rating for the first book the same, I have to take one star away here.

Original:
Don't know if I like Beyond Shame more that this book... But, I'm pleased about getting more of Dallas. ;) But I preferred Lex in the first book... :)

EDIT: Re-read time. (2/24/2017)
So much fun to have a female character which is more badass than all the men characters put together without sounding obnoxious and getting on my nerves non-stop.

"Matching ink, you and me. Something fitting for a king and queen. For Dallas and Lex."

Of course I loved it, was there ever any doubt?!? this book was all about the balance of power, and we all know how much I love a good power play especially when the two main characters are as strong as Dallas and Lex. I'm a sucker for a fucked up world where the powerful rules and lives by a code. Dallas and Lex both had the power to strip each other bare and bring each other to their knees.

Dallas is the King of Sector 4 and for six years Lex has helped him build up his empire earning her a spot as the "unofficial" queen. Lex decides it's finally time, she want's him to be hers and the only way to bait him and was to claim him. With the help of Ace she got Dallas's name inked, permanent proof of who she belonged too
"If keeping me off your dick wasn't punishment, what was it?"

"Foreplay."

"We've had six years of that. Do we really need more?"

With Lex's bold new ink, Dallas finally had the opportunity to collar her and make a statement however dangerous that may be, with Dallas openly claiming her as his, he's painted a bigger target on Lex's back for anyone who want's to hurt him. As much as it pains Dallas she is more than capable of taking care of herself, but that doesn't mean he has to like it
"I was Cery's best pupil, but only in certain subjects. Oral sex and improvised weaponry, for example, though rarely in conjunction."

Dallas and Lex works their way into their new life as king and queen, dealing with politics, greed of power and money, and all the bullshit that comes with running sector four.

This series as I have grown to love comes complete with my smut fix, from the moment Dallas takes Lex for the first time to Dallas making Lex's fantasies come true. Sector four the place where debauchery is alive in all it's glory
"Noelle and Jasper licking her pussy, Mad and Ace sucking her nipples to aching points. Panting, Lex lifted her head far enough to see Dallas.

He smiled and pressed one hand against his fly, where his cock strained his jeans. "They can lick you, darling. They can stroke you and suck you and pet you, but they can't have you. The only question now is how many times I'm gonna watch you come before I get my cock in you."

No matter how explosive they are together, it's never easy, there are things they have to learn about each other and about themselves
"I'll be any man you want. A king or a beggar or a farmer or a killer. But I'll never be the man who can let you walk away"

Dallas was ever the alpha male, possessive and powerful while Lex as badass as she presents herself, she is ever the big mama bear, with these two you never really know who is in charge; only to later realize that they are equals in every way.

Beyond Pain comes out later this year, and I have to say I'm a bit scared, how could they top this one ??? But I'm ready to see them try, with Bren and Six it can only be explosive once they use the aggression they have on something else besides fighting...

3 star story with a 5 star sex scene.

...and that's okay. Beyond Control was not great for me, but since it was sandwiched in between two books that I really liked, I'll forgive this for not hooking me on the same level as books 1 and 3.

I've just never felt the Dallas/Lex dynamic, which is why I waited so long to continue the series. But hey, I won't complain too much...remember how I mentioned a 5 star sex scene? Oh yeah. That.

Public sex coupled with the fantasy of having multiple people tend to your every need kind of really rings my bell. And I don't get to read it like this very often. Let's see, we have pages and pages of one female being the center of attention for multiple people who live in that moment to make sure that all of her needs and fantasies are met through direct orders from one hot man in charge? SIGN ME UP. Yes, I'm a bad, bad, bad girl. #sorrynotsorry

Getting back to the Dallas/Lex thing...while they are probably my least favorite couple, there were some good teases for future books within their story, so I enjoyed most of the outside dynamic, which helped save the book for me.

“If keeping me off your dick wasn’t punishment, what was it?”
“Foreplay.”
“We’ve had six years of that. Do we really need more?”
Dallas grinned.”

This quote is perfect to describe their relationship. 6 years of disfunctional my friends. They both wanted it and neither one of them knew how to go about getting it. They had sex on regular basis, they were possessive, they were hurt by each other but it took them 6 years and 2 books to work their shit out.

The first 2/3 of the book were... uneventful. Dallas had just collared Lex and everything seemed to work fine between them. They dealed with their shit, they acquired power, they had lots and lots and LOTS of sex. And it was boring. After 6 years it took Lex less than a week to come to trust Dallas and the only thing that had changed was that instead of fucking each other silly just with fingers and mouths, they had intercorse as well. So as you can imagine Dallas took that trust and pissed all over it pretty quickly. And that's when the fun began.

The reason I gave this book almost 4 stars was because the "fall out" between Lex and Dallas wasn't some ridiculous misunderstanding. It was a real, believable, relatable problem. Dallas couldn't understand Lex at all. He was power hungry and projected his lust for power on her. He put his "empire" before her and for that reason Lex left him. It was a legitimate reason and not some half assed attempt to create conflict just to fill pages. And when Dallas took his head out of his ass it was all the more satisfying because I wasn't rolling my eyes at their fight in the first place.

PS. I don't get Dallas' hang up with intercorse. Sex is sex whether you use you mouth, your hands or you cock. Why did he have to collar her before going all the way?

Actual Story is a 3 but BEST DIRTIEST SEX SCENE EVER (my favorite out of any I've read) is a 5 so 4 stars it is.

First let’s just say that I thought Beyond Shame had my favorite sex scene ever. Well move over because that one has been bumped to the #2 position to be replaced by one of the sex scenes in this book which now claims the #1 position of Best and Dirtiest Sex Scene I’ve read. I really didn’t think that Kit Rocha could outdo it and then WOW my world was rocked.
#1 – Lex’s fantasy come true in Beyond Control
#2 - Noelle’s and Jasper’s couple interlude with Lex and Dallas in Beyond Shame
#3 – Nora/Soren/Kingsley threesome in The Mistress (The Original Sinners #4)

There was nothing hotter in this book than Dallas taking control and giving Lex her fantasy. Directing all the people that touched her and how and when. Making sure that it was all about Lex and her pleasure, reading everything she wanted out of the situation and then ensuring that she got that and more. It was illicit, naughty, dirty and OMG so HOT I melted.

melting

Besides that there is Lex who most of the time I love. I mean she is strong, feisty and doesn’t take smack from almost anyone. Plus she owns her sexuality, there is never any shame in her game and she is up for pretty much anything. Also she says stuff like…
”I was Cery's best pupil, but only in certain subjects. Oral sex and improvised weaponry, for example, though rarely in conjunction.”

She is so busy being a badass and saying cool things that sometimes you miss how totally broken she is. She is totally messed up and might be able to share her body and pleasure with almost anyone but she definitely doesn’t know how to share her heart or control.

Dallas who is a control freak and just as messed up in his own ways. I mean these two have been circling each other for six years and have done just about everything you can think of sexually except actual intercourse. Because Dallas has rules and one of them is unless he has collared you and you are his alone he will not put his dick in you. He has met his match with Lex who pushes back and doesn’t let him get away with anything.
What can I say. We like our women only mostly tamed. Where’s the fun in a woman who’d never stab you just a little, if you pissed her off bad enough?”

Lex and Dallas together are a force to be reckoned with and there will be some bumps and bruises along the way as Dallas tries to figure out how to keep a woman he has collared and balance an empire. Lex spends her time coming to terms with her new role, her past and how to be in someone else’s control on a permanent basis.

The story wasn’t as good as the first book. It is still interesting as Dallas works out how to get sector 3 under control and rebuild it without compromising his own empire in sector 4. He has to decide what is more important to him, the drive for power or his need for Lex. But let’s be honest the story is really secondary to the sex and there was a lot of hot dirty sex had by all.

Warning: This is not for the faint of smut. There are threesomes, foursomes, sexsomes and gender is pretty irrelevant. But I love that I never feel like at any time a woman is being disrespected or abused. It is all consensual and done in a caring and loving mannor.

I’m going to give you a review soundtrack for this one. Nothing quite sums up Dallas and Lex like this song – Kiss With A Fist by Florence & The Machine. PLAY IT LOUD!!

"All I wanted was you." Her voice broke on the confession. "To be as important to you as you were to me."

I was blown away when I read Beyond Shame and described it as like The Hunger Games on crack and I still stand by that statement. This is all kinds of crazy but I totally LOVE it!!

We’re immersed straight back into the gritty and surreal world of Sector Four right from the first page. The atmosphere came vividly back to life in my imagination, I could see it, I could almost smell it – it was like I’d never been away.

This is the story of Dallas O’Kane, King of Sector Four and Alexa Parrino who has long been a thorn in his side. The attraction is undeniable but he wants her submission and he wants it for the right reasons and we’re going to have an almighty battle on our hands as the power switches between the two of them constantly throughout the book.

I loved Dallas and couldn’t wait to read his story and Beyond Control doesn’t disappoint. He can be a bit of a fuckwit sometimes but I think his heart is in the right place and he completely adores Lex. He’s lean, mean, heavily inked and he’s carved a semblance of order out of the chaos that is the post-flares apocalyptic world outside of the privileged capital Eden. He’s earned the respect of everyone around him and his people would die for him and he for them.

Lex has dragged herself out of a world of servitude and enforced submission to make a life for herself in Sector Four. She’s lied, she’s stolen, she’s even killed but she’s a tart with a heart despite her badass demeanour and she cares deeply for those around her and her reputation has grown with her confidence and she has now become one of the most trusted and influential people in the O’Kane gang. Dallas wants her for himself, he wants to collar her and ink her, but ownership is a difficult concept for Lex and these two are going to make things very hard for themselves.

Reading this was almost like watching a championship fight _ I could almost hear the announcer……………..Aaaaaaand in the red corner, all the way from Sector Two, we have Alexa Parrinoooooo………. with Dallas sizing her up all the time from the blue corner! They hissed and snarled at each other like a pair of alley cats and sometimes I hard a bit of a hard time working out just what they were mad at! They were never going to take the easy route and, with the leaders of the other Sectors scheming against them, we’re in for an angsty, gritty, edgy journey.

I really enjoyed losing myself in Kit Rocha’s crazy world again – it’s dark, raw, unrelentingly uncivilised, dangerously uncultured and seriously violent and we’re once again treated to supernova hot sex scenes in the Broken Circle where nearly everyone gets a chance to play and we get to catch up with Noelle and Jasper, Ace and that chair everyone wants to get a tattoo in, the mysterious Six, Rachel, Bren and everyone else we first met back in Beyond Shame.

Favorite Quote: “Dallas O’Kane didn’t chase after women who ran. Dallas O’Kane lifted a finger and women came running.”

Last year I read the first book in this series, Beyond Shame and was blown away by the story and the alpha men who get matched with fierce women. And the sex was just dirty and so well done. When I heard Beyond Control would feature Dallas and Lex, two characters I fell in love with in book one, my anticipation grew. I was so excited I convinced myself the book wouldn’t live up to my expectations. I was wrong. This book is even better.

Beyond Control not only has a great story line where we get introduced to each sector more and learn their individual flavor, but the characters and their development and relationships with each other really shine in this series. Dallas O’Kane is the king of Sector four. He is in charge and everyone knows it. He plays hard, he fights hard, and for a long while now, Lex and him have done a dance. They are basically in love, but Lex has a stubborn streak in her that brings even Dallas to his knees. But early on in this book, he makes Lex his Queen and we get to see how this new power struggle between them plays out. While exhibitionism is a common occurrence in Sector 4 – Dallas has his own plans for Lex.

The first time he buried his cock in her, no one else would be watching. He’d been waiting to long to share any part of that first time, even the of sight her coming for him. “No,” he murmured, pulling her hair hard enough to edge her chin up. “But being collared means you get my dick when I give it to you.”

“Oh.” Her hands stilled. “So that’s how it’s gonna be.”

They are such a fun pair to watch unfold. Dallas demands obedience and has those alpha tendencies just overflowing and dripping from him, and while this definitely gets Lex off, in the end, as in every good extreme alpha hero relationship, it is her that is in control. It is Lex that ultimately wins the prize.

The erotic scenes in this book are so intense and well done, that I almost needed to take a break between scenes to compose myself. There is sex between Dallas and Lex, between Lex and Noelle (heroine from book one) there is even one sex scene with six people. (yes, six people. And it’s sexalicious). Each scene felt organic to Dallas and Lex’s relationship. It didn’t seem excessive or put in there just to fill the pages. Each one furthers and explores their relationship. It’s dirty y’all. No really – I’ve read a lot of sex scenes. We all have. These will stick with you.

It’s not all sex though. As I mentioned, we meet some of the other big players from the other sectors and things move forward in the world building. Each book in this series has a new hero and heroine, but the supporting characters play very big roles in each book. The world builds upon itself so I highly recommend you read them in order although this can stand alone.

The characters are large, vibrant and oh so sexy. The world is gritty and intense. If there is one erotic series you should be reading, it’s this one.

4.5 stars...Sex, Politics, Kink, and Power reign in Sector Four
After an endless silence, Dallas traced her jaw and put the tip of his finger under her chin. “I’m feeling possessive tonight, Lexie love, so here’s your choice. I can untie you and we can have a little tease and cuddle…or you can stand up and go into the bedroom. If you do that, I’m going to play with you until you think you can’t take it anymore, and then I’m going to ride you so hard your legs won’t work in the morning. Pick one.”

“Just cuddling?” She managed to climb to her feet. “Don’t be such a girl, Declan.”

Beyond Control is Kit Rocha’s second ‘Beyond’ book, which left me with a positively languorous feeling. In this wickedly erotic dystopian romance book, Dallas, the leader/King of Sector Four, and Lex battle each other’s will, and surrendering each other’s heart, body, and soul proves a stimulating and agonizing mission to the coup de grace. It's “All or Nothing,” with a lot going on in-between.

This Beyond book covers more territory - sectors, leaders, Lex’s past, and secondary characters – as Eden takes a backseat. Within the sectors, leaders do not strive to create ideal little worlds, they rule personal empires or fiefdoms. They strive to survive, enforce, prosper, and gain and/or maintain their power. With Lex by his side, Dallas has made his sector prosperous, but their partnership is volatile. Their needs are complex, demanding. At first, their obstacle wasn’t as obvious to me as Beyond Shame’s heroine Noelle. (Noelle craved sexual freedom and discarded Eden’s ingrained sense of shame, which made for many stimulating encounters with O’Kane members.) In this story, Lex and Dallas endure a prolonged sexual, emotional and political power struggle with internal and external forces. It’s an engaging process, for sure!

Kit Rocha’s writing is a smooth and luscious ride! My face is firmly pressed against the window and I’m ready for the next journey! Is this book love or lust? Does it matter? I think not. I definitely recommend Beyond Control to erotic romance fans. The writing, characterization, and plot show expert skill. Be aware that ‘anything goes’ in Sector Four, Ace’s chair, the stage, the dance floor, the Cage, etc… Now for the long wait until the next book! Beyond Pain will feature two characters I’ve been fascinated with since book one – Bren and Six! Bring it on, Team Rocha!

4 DALLAS & LEX STARS

I don't know why it took me so long to come back to the post-apocalyptic world of Sector Four and the O'Kanes because I really enjoyed Beyond Shame but, I'm so glad I did.

The power struggle in and out of bed between Dallas O'Kane, leader of Sector Four and Alexa Parrino, the heart of Sector Four, was thrilling.

 photo beyondcontrol_zps92f57790.jpg

While the action and anarchy was titillating, the sex was beyond hot and raw! It's more than just kink and group sex...anything goes. Let's just say there were moments that made me blush ;)

My favourite excerpt:

“Does it scare you, love? Knowing you're stuck with me?" His hand tightened suddenly, hauling her head back. "Does it scare you to know I'd burn it all to the ground if that'd make you happy?"

Pleasure clashed with satisfaction. "Hell, no." Nothing less would be enough.

He thrust harder, angling to hit all the right spots. "It should. I couldn't let you go. I knew I had to, and I couldn't. I'll be any man you want. A king or a beggar or a farmer or a killer. But I'll never be the man who can let you walk away.”

Welcome to Kink Central, round two people!

This was just as wrong and nasty as the first one - perhaps even more so, I am just used to it now. Bring. It. On.

Miss Alexa is one horny biatch and Declan Dallas O'Kane is the kink kingly yin to her queenly yang.

Again, I loved the world building in this one and we also got to know new characters and subplots as well as refining already existing ones. I really liked Lex and Dallas and I thought that their connection was super heated and palpable. IMO, they put Noelle and Jasper to SHAME. (Haha, get it? Yes, behold my lame pun.)

The grand conflict toward the end of this book was better than in book one and I am looking forward to Bren/Six and Rachel/Ace/Cruz' story lines.

Oh Dallas! Dallas, Dallas, Dallas, you dirty boy! *looks around* Oh, sorry! Got a little distracted there. That’s what the kingpin, Dallas O’Kane does to me. If you haven’t read the Beyond series by Kit Rocha, you are SERIOUSLY missing out on some of the hottest men on the planet! A friend of mine called this book a “buffet of bad boys” and that is exactly what Dallas, Jas, Ace, Mad, Bren and Cruz are. Think the ultimate bad boys – all tatt’d up with brawn and brains. And the most important thing? Their willingness to do anything and everything and of course, their stamina

I read this book for many, many reasons. The first thing that caught my eye was the cover. Beautiful in its simplicity, the cover stands out amongst a sea of others. Both sensual and erotic, it aptly describes the series without any words, painting a picture that helps me as a reader bring the world and its characters to life.

The second thing is the writer. Kit Rocha is the other pen name of kickass writing duo of Moira Rogers. I’ve enjoyed many of their other books but this series has to be my favorite of theirs. I will admit that I was hesitant about the dystopian aspect of the series just because it isn’t my favorite genre to read. However, I took a leap and wow, did it pay off! I absolutely fell in love with the world that Rocha had introduced in the first book, BEYOND SHAME. Furthermore, I felt like this book added onto that, creating more and more layers to an intricate world. That’s all Rocha and their writing skill.

The authorial voice is strong and poignant, capturing my attention from the very first page until the very end. I read this book in half a day and was pining for more afterwards.

What sets this series apart from other works by these two authors is the focus on the sex. Sometimes, when you think erotica, you think sex, sex, sex. This series has plenty of sex to go around, you can bet on that, but Rocha manages to infuse the sex scenes with vulnerability, trust, total devotion and love. That alone is tough to do between a hero and a heroine, but Rocha manages to do it while involving other characters as well.

As I mentioned before, there’s plenty of no-holds-barred sex. The six-way is ample proof of that but through it all, Rocha is able to make it also about Dallas and Lex and their connection. Dallas’ need for control is their greatest obstacle and taming Lex is both a challenge and a game. Amongst the warm bodies and the hotter-than-hell sex, it’s still really all about Dallas and Lex. I’m impressed that any author can accomplish that amongst sex that could incinerate you on the spot.
I’ve been looking for a new erotic romance author like Lorelei James and Cherise Sinclair. Kit Rocha has made that short list.

BEYOND CONTROL is too hot for words! Sizzling, sensual, singe-your-eyebrows-hot doesn’t cover it. Read it for its worldbuilding, read it for its great characters, read it for its stellar writing. Whatever you do, just READ IT! You don’t be disappointed.

P.S. I AM CLAIMING DALLAS O’KANE FOR MY HAREM! Better yet, I’m claiming Jas, Ace, Mad, Bren and Cruz too!!

Favorite Quote:
“Do you trust me?”
Her eyes locked with his – for once, clear and unguarded. “Yes.”
Finally.
His blood pumped fire through his veins as he splayed his fingers across her chest, his thumb canted toward one shoulder and his pinky brushing the other. She looked deceptively delicate in moments like this, small under his hand, but there was nothing fragile about the heart beating under his palm.
And it belonged to him. “Ink,” he said, the word edged with all his desire. “O’Kane for life.”
“For life,” she echoed, covering his hands with hers.

"I can't do this without you. I can't be Dallas without Lex."

Another exciting instalment in Beyond series by Kit Rocha.
In this world gone wrong, the Sectors are not a nice place to grow up. Declan "Dallas" O'Kane is the King of Sector Four. He has a fierce need to protect what is his, there is not a thing he can't control and look after...well maybe one thing.
Alexa Parrino.

A desperately, passionate affair ensues throughout this book between a man used to controlling everything in his domain and a woman who refuses to be a possession to anyone.
I have been absolutely dying to get my hands on Lex and Dallas's story since I finished the last page of Beyond Shame on September 21st 2012. I have just finished this one and I am already itching to get my hands on the next one!

Kit Rocha has done a fabulous job of building a dark, raunchy futuristic world and making it work as an erotic book.
Sexy as hell, this book will not disappoint you in the steam department. In the Sectors where sexual freedom is something that is celebrated, the O'Kanes sure know how to "party"! Bloody, violent, dirty, sweaty and sexy!
This is not just a one dimensional love story, or erotic book.
The futuristic, dystopian world sucks you in with its sectors battling for power. The author paints a bleak picture of society and what happens when we are stripped down to our baser instincts of survival.

In saying all that though this is still a love story, passionate and full of angst. When feelings finally get out in the open they are touching, tender and sincere. I was blown away by Dallas and Lex, I am however a sucker for when the big, tough men fall.

"I'll be any man you want. A king or a beggar or a farmer or a killer. But I'll never be the man who can let you walk away."

All in all I am completely satisfied with this book. I got more of O'Kanes and not just the main characters, the POV's are shared between many of the gang members, each with their different personalities and stories, I felt a deeper connection to them all because of this. They all touched my heart and I will be waiting for their books longingly. I got more of the dark, gritty world that I came to love in the first one with their, tattoos, cage fighting and raunchy parties. I got more of Kit Rocha's fabulous writing.
I am now at a loss as what I am going to do until the next one comes out ....Six and Bren... their story is going to be awesome.

This review is posted on Way Too Hot Books.

Sex. Sex. Sex. Sex everywhere.
Sex on the floor. Sex on the table. Sex against the wall.
Sex in the shower. Sex in front of everyone. Sex with everyone.

That pretty much sums up the plot of this book.

What's weird is that I actually liked more those rare parts of the book where they actually talked and where we found out more about the politics of the Sectors and their leaders. Don't get me wrong, the sex scenes were hot, a bit over-exaggerated, but hot no matter, BUT after the first half of the book I was like: dude, not again!-.-

Dallas & Lex were one of my favorite characters in the 1st book, so I was looking forward to reading this book, and I thought that it would definitely be better than Noelle's and Jas' story, but in the end all the cheesy lines, sex all over the place, Lex showing more of her submissive side and Dallas being over-possessive jackass kind of ruined it for me.

IMO the author should focus more on developing the story in the next book and reduce the sex scenes, because no matter how hot they are, after awhile they get boring. My favorite characters in this one were Bren & Six, their book is next and I hope that it won't disappoint.

Whatever we do, we do it together.

Alexa and Declan AKA Lex and Dallas (because he’s from Texas) have and will probably continue to have huge communication issues. I guess if they didn’t there wouldn’t be a story but...it was very bad. I honestly feel like one of the biggest issue is the world they live in. As the King of all the debauchery going on in sector four Dallas has to also be a kinky mofo. And if Lex and him were just monogamous and boring there wouldn’t be so many problems. They're expected to play a role. But also love the world they live in??? I guess I just didn’t really care for them. And I knew this coming in, but I was still surprised because I was bored. All the sex in book one was new and freaky. All the sex in this book was excessive and lame. I just didn’t care for them. Was it freaky, yes. Was it interesting, not really. and that’s where you lost me. At least give me good sex scenes. I already knew I didn’t care for the MCs but at least make me want to read it. Sadly that wasn’t the case. I did however love, love, love the small chapters with Bren and Six and also Ace. What the hell happened in the cage with Ace and Cruz?!?!? I want more of that!!! Please, I need more of Ace and Cruz and possibly Rachel in the mix. Also all the new girls. Trix and Jade are new and from other sectors. I would love them to get a HEA. I’m invested in this series.

Spoilers ahead , 3.5*

This is a post apocalyptic series where people are divided, we have perfect Eden where there are rules, law and law enforcement. Then we have the sectors run by different leaders and lacking the electricity and technology of Eden. Sector Four is run by Dallas O'Kane the barbarian who rules over a hedonistic empire. Now moves are in place and power is at end and Dallas' greatest weakness is his need for power.....and Lex
Lex is the unofficial queen of sector Four, she's been there for years and though she's helped Dallas along the way the two have never claimed each other, they've been intimate but never had sex yet everyone knows if you harm Lex Dallas will go HAM
Lex makes a move that finally brings them together but will she ever be as important to him as his need for power

I honestly really enjoy this series but babyyyyyyyyyy it's not for the faint of heart. Safety lovers look away this isn't the series for us😭 I love Dallas and Lex but they've both spent years fucking other ppl when it's clear they love each other
Lots of drama as Dallas is appointed to oversee sector three after he killed the old leader for trying to double cross him
The O'Kane family is also expanding

This was pretty similar to book 1 with lots of unnecessary and uninteresting fucking. The actual politics of the sectors and the moments between Dallas and Lex were the best parts. As much as I liked Lex her being with almost every man and some women in the inner circle was a bit much. She and Dallas have wanted each other all those years but they never actually had sex. Lots of oral and group but not actual sex with each other though they did have it with OP. These books are not for everyone with all the friendly fucking going on but it had it's moments. The scenes with Dallas and Lex as they broke up then got back together were my favorite.

4 solid Dallas stars!!

I'll be very brief...

Beyond Control is definitely way better than Beyond Shame. I loved Dallas and Lex. I'd say the sex is still still graphic and raunchy but there's actually a decent story here. Their love story is complicated but their HEA is definitely satisfying.

This story isn't for the faint of heart though. There's a lot of kink involved here and this is in a dystopian world. If those two turns you off, then this story might not work for you.

There needs to be more than 5 stars for this book! Hot. Awesome. Makes you feel like you are there living in the sectors outside Eden. Lex and Declan ... FINALLY! And more Jas and Noelle... OMG!

OH HELL YEAH, Dalas ans Lex! This book was amazing, f*cking brilliant! And damn hot! Oh God, haven't read a better erotic romance in a while!
Review to come after I calm down. Until then...

"He was rough, hard and unforgiving. A force of nature.
And, like a storm, he had no mercy."

"He could do anything to her, anything, and she'd let him. Maybe even love it, as long as it got him off.
It was ridiculous. It was humbling.
It was the hottest fucking realization of his life."

"See, Six? This is what makes life worth living. Men who
don't know if they wanna fight or fuck, but will climb into a cage to figure it out in front of everyone in the
sector."

(Oh my God, I need Ace's book! It has to be a menage, this quote set me on fire!)

description

"This was it. This was where fear overcame him, fear of losing the person he needed more than air, more than the blood in his veins. Fear of letting her slip away only to find that nothing would satisfy him ever again.
This was the moment he would close his hands around the one thing he should have cherished and crush the light out of it, because he was too selfish to let something beautiful escape."

"I can't do this without you. I can't be Dallas without Lex...I've always loved you." A shudder worked through him, and he pulled her closer. "I've always wanted you. They don't have a word for how much I need you. Everything good I am, everything good I've ever done...it's all you. You make me a king. Without you, I'm just another psychotic thug."

"Never," he promised, riding her faster. "I'll never stop fucking you. Never stop needing you. Loving you.
Never stop."

More salacious not-safe plot ;)

But. Wow. This one left me so torn, I don't know what to make of the series. It seems once again there's a plot with an h where I just can't wrap my head around her issues/logic/actions. They either seem ridiculous cuz it's mostly in her head and not borne by the activities of the H, or, so convoluted I don't see the reason to her logic.

The first book (not primarily about this H/h) made me think this couple was just too fucked up to get their BS together. After reading it, I'm not sure the h made lots of sense on her reasoning for her issues with the H's behavior. The H, for the most part, was either transparently bad at hiding shit or ONE FUCKING CLARIFYING question would have, I don't know, clarified shit.

So...#LogicFail

This H was more possessive, in that certain men could touch the h, just no fucking. Though the h's BFF, he was all about watching that f/f action. Almost WTF as the last H sending his h to discover sex with others before he'd fuck her (*o.O*)

The plot took a back seat to the sex, though it did advance the world building. I really don't care about the amount of sex, I just found myself skimming a chunk of the book because there's only so many orgies I can process in one sitting.

I think the H/h got their HEA. It certainly felt more stable than the first couple's HFN. And I'm saying that with the broadest perspective possible in mind.

I also am not sure how the H/h will comfortably deal with their sexuality and different desires in sexual partners. He wants one, she seems to like plentiful.

My biggest fear is that sex is going to overshadow plot from here on out and I'd really like a little more plot with that sex to invest my interest in the series. I've read reviews of the 3rd book stating it's better, but the dynamic I want to see work itself out is the 4th book and that one reviews as a possible miss as well :(

Triggers: BDSM, orgies, f/f, m/f/f/m, m/m, m/m/m/f, not all of those combos are explicit, but they're going on ;)

This was a pretty good story. I liked Lex and Dallas and their story was good, actually better than I expected considering how they got along in book #1, Beyond Shame.

Lex was born in Sector 2 and sold by her parents to the "Orchid House". This place is where pretty young girls are sold and turned in to the equivalent of high class prostitutes. Lex wasn't willing to be one so she ran away and lived on the streets for years. She happened to get caught trying to steal from Dallas and got taken under him protection. Lex eventually convinced Dallas to include women in the gang and became a member.

Dallas didn't start out in a good life and has had to struggle for everything he's gotten. He claimed his sector and built his gang up through hard work and smarts, although he tries to convince his enemies that he's a brainless barbarian. Dallas has wanted Lex for years but he won't have sex (actual intercourse) with her because of his rules. Dallas won't have sex with a woman unless she's collared by him because Dallas won't share his women. He doesn't want to collar Lex because he's worried that if things don't work out between them it would cause issues within the gang.

When the story begins, Dallas has made a comment to Lex that pissed her off big time and she decides to do something in response that she knows will goad Dallas big time. I wonder what she was planning to goad him in to because what she does prompts Dallas to collar her as his. Lex doesn't really fight it but yet she makes sure Dallas knows she won't let him in easily. They come to a tentative peace together and start trying to figure out how to deal with each other in a relationship. Dallas is all for having Lex by his side. She's always been sort of the female leader (if unofficially) of the gang and now that they're together he likes the idea of her being a partner that will help with gang business and stand at his side. Lex is willing to take up the part and is happy when Dallas seems willing to give her some power as she'd been afraid that he'd just want to own her without giving her anything more.

Soon after Lex and Dallas start their relationship, a meeting is called in sector 2 for all the sector leaders. In book #1, the leader of sector 3 had attacked Dallas and company and got killed for his troubles and now the sector is out of control and the trouble could soon leak out to the other sectors. Dallas asks Lex to go along with him for the meeting to show a united front. This brings some interesting situations since the leader of sector 2 is also the owner of Orchid house and the woman Lex had fled years before. There is intrigue, backstabbing, alliances, threats and even an assassination attempt during the summit between the leaders. Dallas and Lex come out of it with mixed feelings but some good opportunities available to them. Unfortunately, some people try playing some games and those games cause a rift between Lex and Dallas. To be honest, I don't think that Dallas was trying to be mean or even act badly, I think he just said the wrong thing at the wrong time and Lex took it badly. There's some bad times as things are strained between Lex and Dallas and look to be heading south. Thankfully, they manage to save their relationship before all is lost and end the story starting their HEA together.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked both Lex and Dallas. They're both rather hard characters but they both have good hearts and you can see that...I'm just glad they were able to work things out. Overall the story was a nice romance with lots of sex and a good action plot that kept things interesting outside of the romance and sex. I'm sure I'll probably read more of the series in the future. I'd recommend this story. :)

* note _ I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a good job.

The futuristic dystopian world that Kit Rocha (also known as writing duo Donna & Bree) has created for this series is gritty and dark, gangs rule the sectors and there are ongoing battles and wars as they fight over boarders, for supplies, and against the city of Eden. Life is harsh, violence is common place and the O'Kane men are all leather clad, tattoo covered, intense alphas who will need equally strong willed women to bring them to their knees. As much as the gang work hard they play harder, the guys have a lot of steam to let off and they do that through fighting and sex. The parties are wild and anything goes but nobody would ever be forced into something that they didn't want. It's all about mutual pleasure and attraction but if rough sex, group play and exhibitionism aren't the kind of thing you want to read about then this isn't the series for you. If you're prepared to go in with an open mind though I guarantee you'll love every minute of it!

We already saw the fierce attraction between Dallas and Lex in Beyond Shame but the stakes have been raised and things get inferno hot as we delve deeper into their story in Beyond Control. Lex is determined to never submit to a man again and no matter how much she wants Dallas she knows it would be easy to let him take complete control over her in every way. Dallas has been waiting a long time to claim Lex as his queen and he isn't above playing dirty to persuade her that life with him will be worth it. What follows is a battle of wills between two very strong individuals who are both determined to come out on top.

Lex knows how to push Dallas's buttons but no matter how much she winds him up he won't take their relationship further until she agrees to his demands. He isn't prepared to settle for anything less than 100% when it comes to Lex, he knows just how special she is and he won't let her go without a fight. Lex has been half in love with Dallas for years but is afraid to take that extra step with him even if a part of her thrills at the idea of submitting to his will in the bedroom. It's the rest of her life she is worried about giving him complete control over and she worries that he will end up overtaking everything she does. Neither of these characters are perfect, they both have flaws but that is what makes them all the more realistic. These characters are so real that I wouldn't be surprised to find out they were based on real people. They both make mistakes along the way and it isn't easy for them to learn how to compromise and find an in between that they are both able to live with but I spent every second of the book willing them to work things out. I wanted them to end up together, they both needed each other and together they are so much stronger than they are when they're apart.

As much as I love Dallas and Lex it was also great to catch up with Jas and Noelle as well as spend more time with the other gang members. I still have a crush on all of the O'Kanes but I really, really can't wait to get to know Ace better! I just have a feeling he's going to be my favourite. This is the kind of story that consumes you, it takes over your life and doesn't let you go until you've finished reading. Even then you'll find yourself thinking of the characters and the world and just waiting for your chance to dive right back into it.

5/03/24 - Reread. Not a fan of Lex. Second time around 2 stars.

03/08/13 - 3 stars. This was okay for a sequel. I Liked Beyond Shame a little bit more.
In the first book, Beyond Shame, I really liked the characters Lex and Dallas. So I was excited that Beyond Control was their story.

I loved the start of the book and I loved the last 25% of the book as well. However, some parts in the middle of the book I felt got off "track". I loved the general plot in the book, but the middle was masked with all the unnecessary sex. It got a little crazy.

When Lex and Dallas were thrown into the “mix” with Noelle and Jasper, I started to think that there were no real feelings for each other. That is why I was glad that Dallas and Lex had some of their intimate moments in private. I had no problem when they liked to “play” with others, but sometimes, it got a little too much.

I love the fact that the author added the POVs of Bren, Six, Rachel, Ace and Cruz. To be honest, those characters’ POVs were my favorite parts of the book. I can not wait to read about Bren and Six in the next book.

In general, you have to be in the mood for this book. There is a lot of menage so if you are looking for a chik lit book, this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for a decent erotica, Dallas and Lex are a hot couple. I did enjoy reading their story.

Thank you to Net Galley for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This was the second book in the Beyond series. Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four the sector that the O'Kanes rule. Dallas O’Kane fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. This book picks up where the first book left off with everything in chaos since Dallas took out Sector Three's leader, Wilson Trent. Now they all have to deal with the fallout. Decide what's going to happen with Sector Three, otherwise those that be in Eden will take it over. And no one wants that. In this book you get to learn how to survive in the Sector through Dallas and Lex. I really liked Lex she is tough and compassionate, she is fiercely loyal to the gang especially the women. She's a woman's woman. She fought to get women into the gang and she continues to fight for them. She yearns to submit and she yearns for someone to force her into it and Dallas is just the man for the job he likes to conquer and dominate. These two had some really good hot sex scenes these two where passionate. This book was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I've been holding this book in case of emergency - my break glass book - and I needed it after the last couple of weeks.

It gave me everything I was hoping for. I love Lex with a wild passion. This book was worthy of her. And those subtle subversions that I saw in the first book? Those things that I hoped to see - this story bore them out. It made me so happy at the end. Thankfully, because it put me through the wringer for a bit.

Now, book 3, is my next break glass book. But I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hold out as long as I did with this one.

This was pretty stupid to be honest. It's been a while since I read the first book in this series, and the characters in this one (Lex and Dallas) are far more interesting and less annoying than in that first installment, but god. The plot is so thin in this and character motivations are really quite confusing at times. The sex scenes also completely overshadow any story building there could have been - I honestly lost count of them!

I will read the next book because it's the last one of the three book bindup of the first part of this series, but then I'm done. The world of Eden and the Sectors needs to become a lot better developed for me to care enough to buy future books.

*buddy reading with my beautiful soul sister Glass*

This book was really good, but...also a little predictable and similar to Noelle´s story, maybe a bit cheesy, but very funy and worthwhile. I honestly had fun reading Beyond Control, but I can´t wait for Ace´s book.
He´s my favorite guy in this series.
